Abstract

This study examines the role of work-life balance in employees’ psychological well-being, with job satisfaction as a potential mediating variable. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 284 active employees through convenience sampling using the Work-Life Balance Scale (WLBS), the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWB-18), and the Job Satisfaction Measurement: the Alternative Method. Data were analyzed using regression and bootstrapping mediation analysis with PROCESS Hayes Model 4. The results indicate that work-life balance has a significant positive effect on psychological well-being. However, work-life balance does not significantly influence job satisfaction, and job satisfaction does not significantly predict psychological well-being; therefore, job satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between work-life balance and psychological well-being. These findings suggest that employees’ psychological well-being is primarily shaped by the direct effect of work-life balance, highlighting the importance of organizational policies that support work-life balance to promote employee well-being.Top of Form

Abstract

Abstract

Human resources are a strategic asset that must be managed effectively to sustain organizational performance. Strengthening employee engagement requires not only productivity and motivation but also the provision of adequate job resources. Yet, global evidence shows persistent challenges, with engagement levels remaining low and employees reporting limited vigor, dedication, and absorption. This study investigates the influence of job resources on work engagement, with job satisfaction as a mediating factor. A quantitative approach was employed using convenience sampling, involving 350 employees in Indonesia. Data were collected through an online survey using validated instruments for measuring work engagement, job resources, and job satisfaction. The findings reveal that job resources significantly and positively affect work engagement, and job satisfaction partially mediates this relationship. These results highlight the importance of organizational strategies that prioritize job satisfaction as a pathway to strengthening employee engagement and sustaining long-term performance.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve English learning autonomy and digital literacy skills of 11th-grade students of SMA IT Imam Syafi’i Cendikia Pekanbaru through the use of Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning applications. This issue was raised due to the low level of independence in learning English and digital literacy among Year 11 students at Imam Syafi'i Cendikia Islamic High School in Pekanbaru. The English learning process still tends to rely on teacher explanations and textbooks, so students are not accustomed to learning independently and utilising digital technology optimally. The activity was conducted through three stages: preparation, implementation, and continuous mentoring. The preparation stage involved needs analysis, interviews with English teachers, and material development based on the school curriculum. The implementation phase was carried out through digital media socialization, demonstration, and direct practice using AR applications to support vocabulary mastery, pronunciation, and daily communication. A total of 30 students participated actively in the training and were guided to operate the digital learning applications independently. The final stage involved online mentoring through WhatsApp, email, and phone communication to ensure learning sustainability. This implementation proves that reality ‘enhanced’ through AR is not merely a tool, but a new ecosystem that improves the quality of language education. This technology is considered highly feasible, with a feasibility rating of 93.13% from media experts. Although this simulation is hyperrealistic, its educational impact on students' motivation, confidence, and linguistic mastery is very real.

Abstract

As individuals age, they often experience physical, psychological, and social changes that can reduce their quality of life, including decreased independence, limited social participation, loneliness, and a lack of meaningful daily activities. These challenges are commonly associated with retirement, reduced social interaction, and monotonous routines, which may negatively affect emotional well-being and overall life satisfaction. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of occupational therapy in improving the quality of life of elderly individuals. An experimental approach was applied using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving seven participants aged 66–89 years. The intervention consisted of seven group therapy sessions in which participants engaged in structured occupational activities by creating beaded brooches. Quality of life was assessed using the WHOQoL instrument before and after the intervention. The results demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants’ quality of life, with the mean WHOQoL score increasing by 36 points, from 56 to 92. Statistical analysis using a paired-samples t-test indicated that this improvement was significant, t(6) = 20.67, p < .001. These findings suggest that occupational therapy is effective in enhancing the quality of life of elderly individuals. Structured, craft-based group activities can promote active engagement, social interaction, and a sense of personal accomplishment. Practically, such low-cost interventions can be integrated into routine elderly care programs in community centers or nursing homes to reduce social isolation and support meaningful daily engagement.

Abstract

Abstract

The contrast between the global acclaim of Gayo Arabica coffee and the ongoing impoverishment of its growers in Bener Meriah Regency, Indonesia, underscores a significant deficiency in policy execution. This study seeks to evaluate the implementation of the local coffee farmer empowerment policy, based on Qanun No. 16 of 2016 and executed by the Department of Agriculture and Food. Data were gathered utilizing a qualitative case study methodology, employing in-depth interviews and document analysis. Thematic analysis was performed utilizing George C. Edwards III’s policy implementation model, concentrating on four variables: communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The findings indicate that although government implementers have exhibited significant dedication and human resource competence, the program faced obstacles due to inconsistent communication, insufficient physical infrastructure, limited farmer engagement, and poor coordination with village-level organizations. The limitations constrained the policy’s efficacy in converting conventional coffee processes into more lucrative post-harvest processing. The persistence of structural and contextual constraints reduced the program’s capacity to improve farmers’ welfare and contributed to the continuation of existing disparities. Recommendations encompass enhancing localized communication, investing in critical infrastructure, offering transitional incentives, and facilitating more adaptive and participatory implementation frameworks.
