Abstract

Learning in the twenty-first century places a strong emphasis on developing higher order thinking skills (HOTS), particularly critical thinking abilities, which are crucial for understanding physics. An essential part of preparing pupils is education with critical thinking skills through an active and planned learning process. In fact, in learning Physics, students have low critical thinking skills. This demonstrates that in order to solve this issue, the learning method must be innovative. One effective way is in the form of Learner Worksheets (LKPD) by applying creative and innovative learning models. LKPD helps facilitate the learning process through structured guidance, motivate students to learn actively, improve concept understanding and critical thinking skills. This study employs the 4D development model and the R&D approach. With an Aiken'V of 0.93, the validity analysis's findings demonstrated the validity of the Generative Learning LKPD Based on Cognitive Conflict on Fluid Material. The next stage of the practicality test produced by educators was very practical at 89%. The practicality test produced by the user is very practical at 90%. Based on the study's findings, it can be said that the LKPD generated has demonstrated a sufficient degree of validity and applicability. Thus, it is determined that the use of Cognitive Conflict-Based Generative Learning (LKPD) on Fluid Material is employed and is amenable to further testing.

Abstract

This meta-analysis investigates the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills in science education. A total of 42 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2024 were analyzed, covering diverse educational levels and scientific disciplines. The analysis revealed a large average effect size (ES = 0.798; 95% CI: 0.782–0.813), indicating a strong positive impact of PBL. The low standard error (SE = 0.043–0.060) reflects high estimation precision. Statistical tests, including funnel plot symmetry, Trim-and-Fill analysis (p = 0.991), and Egger’s regression test (p = 0.947), confirm the absence of significant publication bias. Moreover, residual heterogeneity was minimal (τ² = 0.000), validating the appropriateness of the fixed-effects model. These findings provide robust empirical evidence that PBL is consistently effective across various contexts in improving students’ 21st-century competencies. The study offers meaningful implications for educators and policymakers in designing science learning strategies that foster higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

In order to encourage students' creative thinking regarding static fluid material, this study aims to assess the need for physics e-modules based on the Dual Space Inquiry framework. This research employs a development (R&D) methodology using the Dick and Carey instructional design model. Descriptive quantitative data analysis was used in the study. The results showed that students’ creative thinking abilities were still categorized as low, with an average percentage of 24.22%. Observations revealed that the learning approach used had not effectively encouraged students’ creative thinking, and that teachers were still relying on print-based instructional resources. Furthermore, based on a questionnaire completed by students, static fluid was identified as a topic that is difficult for them to understand. In light of these issues, there is a need for teaching materials that are both technology-based and capable of stimulating students' creative thinking skills. Therefore, the researchers propose a physics e-module based on the Dual Space Inquiry framework as a solution to enhance students’ creative thinking in learning static fluid material.
