Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Think–Pair–Share (TPS) strategy integrated with online collaborative platforms in writing instruction and describes students’ responses and learning experiences related to writing skills. Using a qualitative case study design, the research involved 30 eighth-grade students and an English teacher in a public junior high school in Privat School at Sabak Timur. Data were collected through classroom observations, student and teacher interviews, document analysis of students’ drafts, and records of online collaborative activities. The findings reveal four major outcomes. First, online collaboration strengthened the TPS stages by enabling students to document ideas, revisit discussions, and refine their writing through digital archives. Second, students’ motivation and participation increased due to real-time interaction and peer appreciation. Third, students received more diverse feedback—from partners, groups, and the teacher which improved vocabulary use, coherence, and text length. Fourth, the teacher’s role shifted from a knowledge provider to a facilitator who guided discussions and supported reflective revision. The findings suggest that the use of Think–Pair–Share (TPS) in combination with platforms such as Google Docs facilitated collaborative writing experiences within the studied context, which can be interpreted as aligning with social constructivist principles. The study offers practical implications for English teachers and theoretical contributions to research on digital collaborative writing in secondary education.

Abstract

Inheritance distribution within families often triggers conflicts, particularly when differing legal principles intersect, such as customary law and Islamic law. This study investigates the inheritance distribution mechanism in Sidokerto Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency, focusing on the tension between customary law, which promotes equal distribution among heirs, and Islamic law, which applies a 2:1 ratio favoring male heirs. The research aims to identify the dominant factors influencing these inheritance patterns, including local traditions, legal awareness, and the socio-economic background of heirs.Using an empirical-juridical approach, the study combines a statute approach (analysis of legal texts), a case approach (review of inheritance-related disputes), and a sociological approach (examination of social practices). Primary data were collected through interviews with the village head and community leaders, while secondary data included national inheritance laws, the Compilation of Islamic Law, the Quran, and scholarly literature on inheritance practices. Findings reveal that most of the Sidokerto Village community adheres to customary inheritance law, emphasizing equal rights among heirs regardless of gender. However, a smaller portion of the population follows Islamic inheritance principles. This divergence often leads to disputes, especially when family members have differing interpretations of applicable legal norms. Factors influencing inheritance decisions include long-standing local customs, varying levels of legal knowledge, and the economic status of heirs. In most cases, inheritance issues are resolved through family deliberation, often mediated by village officials. The inheritance process typically begins with asset inventory and heir identification, serving as the foundation for distribution decisions.

Abstract

Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.) is a leguminous crop originating from North Africa, valued for its high protein and carbohydrate content, as well as its ability to adapt to marginal environments. These characteristics make it a promising candidate to support food and nutritional security, particularly in tropical regions. However, its cultivation and seed quality management remain limited, requiring strategies to improve germination and seedling establishment. Gibberellic acid (GA3) is a plant growth regulator widely known to stimulate seed germination and enhance vigor. This study aimed to assess the effect of GA3 on the germination performance of Bambara groundnut seeds stored for five years. Three genotypes (SS 3.4.2, BBL 1.1, and TVSU 8.6) were treated with GA3 at concentrations of 0, 75, 150, and 225 ppm, and germination and vigor parameters were evaluated. The results showed that GA3 application improved the performance of aged seeds, with 225 ppm identified as the most effective dose. Genotype SS 3.4.2 responded particularly well at this concentration, while BBL 1.1 consistently exhibited superior overall performance across treatments. These findings highlight the potential of GA3 to mitigate the adverse effects of seed aging and enhance seedling establishment. The application of GA3 represents a practical approach for improving the viability of stored seeds.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to critically analyze and validate the applicability of the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model within the framework of Islamic education. Specifically, it seeks to test, verify, and deepen theoretical understanding of the CIPP model by examining its relevance, strengths, and limitations when applied to a religiosity-based educational context. Methodology: Using a qualitative descriptive-evaluative design, data were collected through observations and semi-structured interviews with 15 participants the Director of KMI, 3 supervisors, 6 teachers, and 5 students selected via purposive sampling. Data were analyzed thematically based on the four CIPP components. Main Findings: The religiosity-based curriculum fundamentally contrasts with the liberal-humanistic paradigm, which places humans as the ultimate center and measure of all things while neglecting spiritual and divine values. From the perspective of Islamic education, such a humanistic-liberal model is inherently incompatible, as it disregards the transcendental relationship between humans and their Creator. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study presents a novel contribution by revealing that the conventional application of the CIPP evaluation model, though comprehensive in managerial and procedural aspects, remains insufficient to address the complex realities of educational practice particularly within the realm of Islamic education. The model’s limitation lies in its inability to capture the spiritual (ilahiyah) dimensions that are essential to a religiosity-based curriculum. To overcome this gap, the study proposes an integrative framework termed MHI, which stands for Management, Humanitarian, and Ilahiyah components.

Abstract

The constraints in the generative propagation of stevia include a limited supply of fertile seeds, suboptimal germination rates, and significant phenotypic variability, all of which hinder conventional breeding efforts. Vegetative propagation causes genetic uniformity but limits genetic diversity. Another method for breeding stevia is by inducing polyploidy with colchicine. The main goals of polyploidy induction are to enhance diversity, improve agronomic traits, and achieve ploidy higher than diploid. This study evaluated the ploidy levels and morphological responses of two accessions (SR16 and SR17) to five colchicine doses (0.05, 0.1, 0.15, and 0.2%) and three soaking periods (8, 16, and 24 hours). The accession SR16 showed the best response to 0.1% colchicine for 8 hours and to 0.15% for 12 hours, causing ploidy levels to shift from diploid to tetraploid and mixoploid. SR17, on the other hand, needed higher concentrations and longer immersion times (0.2% for 12 hours) to show the same range of variability. The changes in shape depended on the genotype. SR16 needed low to moderate levels of immersion for short periods, while SR17 needed high levels for long periods. These results endorse the utilization of polyploidy induction techniques in stevia breeding to enhance production and sweetness quality.
