Abstract

The present study aims at understanding how the use of Indonesian terms of address reflect social and cultural relation in the classroom. The data of the study were collected through participant observation and document study, field-notes and audio recording. The analysis shows that the teachers always use terms of address “kamu” to the students while students always use “Bapak or Ibu” to address them. Among the teachers they address “Bapak or Ibu” and among the students they always call each other using “kamu” symmetrically. The use of the terms of address “Bapak or Ibu” symmetrically indicate deference  to each other  But symmetrical usage of “kamu” indicates solidarity and intimacy. Asymmetrical usage of “Bapak or Ibu” by students and “kamu” by the teachers to the students reflect hierarchy. The user of “kamu” is the superordinate while the users of “Bapak or Ibu” subordinate.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to represent the jargon of the "Partai Wong Cilik" (Party of the Little People) in political discourse leading up to the 2024 political campaign and to examine the forms of hyperreality present in the discourse of the "Partai Wong Cilik" jargon. The research method employed is descriptive with a critical discourse analysis approach by Teun A. van Dijk. The primary data used is derived from discourse texts published on the media platforms kompas.com and detik.com during the period leading up to the political year. Subsequently, the data is analyzed using Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis to examine the representation, symbols and signs, as well as the power used to influence, control, and shape social reality.Discourse is understood as a political context action in the "wong cilik" jargon within the information media. The research results indicate that Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis reveals that the slogan, although directed towards positive representation, also serves as a symbolic power tool used to garner political support. The data shows that behind this identity narrative, there are political motives that emphasize party benefits and power, opening space for critical awareness of political identity dynamics and rhetorical strategies in a dynamic social context. This analysis illustrates that political discourse can create an exaggerated reality, inviting readers to question and seek further understanding related to the complexity and concrete reality and political symbols used.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of availability of LKPD that supports literacy activities to improve high-level thinking skills. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model development method. The discussion of the research is adjusted to the ADDIE research and development procedures, namely: analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were 24 students of grade V SDN 101867 Payagambar. Determination of the level of feasibility of LKPD or Student worksheets is based on expert validation tests and trials on students through student response questionnaires. The effectiveness of LKPD was obtained from the results of the pretest and posttest of grade V students. The results of this study indicate that the validation of material experts was 80% with a feasible category, validation of language experts was 85.41% with a very feasible category, validation of layout design experts was 90.47% with a very feasible category. The percentage results of the student response questionnaire were 86.70 which were categorized as very feasible, so it can be said that LKPD is feasible for use by grade V elementary school students. The results of the student pretest reached an average score of 69.3 with classical completeness reaching 42% with an incomplete category. While the results of the posttest after using LKPD reached an average of 84.50 with classical completeness reaching 100% and declared complete. Based on the pretest and posttest values, the gainscore value can be seen as 0.51 with a moderate effectiveness category. This shows that the use of literacy-based LKPD to improve high-level thinking skills has been effectively used by grade V students of SDN 101867 Payagambar, Batang Kuis District.

Abstract

Student brawls are one type of juvenile delinquency that is a problem in Indonesia. Provocative speech, which is widespread on social media and influences student behavior in the real world, is one of the causes of these brawls. Thus, forensic linguistic research tries to connect linguistics with the legal field. One of the objectives of the study is to determine the type of language used by students on social media and determine the legal consequences that arise from student brawls. This study uses a pragmatic approach. This means examining the linguistic meaning in speech or utterances by considering the type of speech. The research data comes from student texts on uploads and comments columns on their Instagram accounts. This study describes provocative expressions that cause student brawls. Therefore, students must be educated to be polite on social media and understand the negative effects of provocative speech. This is an effort to prevent student brawls and prevent children from committing criminal acts.
