21st-century education must emphasize the development of the 4Cs as essential competencies for elementary school students in remote areas, such as those at elementary school. This study aims to identify and analyze the learning models used by teachers and to examine their contribution to the development of critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. This research method with a descriptive approach. The research subjects consisted of 3 teachers and 30 fourth- and fifth-grade students at elementary school, who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification, with validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the Cooperative Learning and Problem-Based Learning models contribute positively to the development of students’ communication and collaboration skills through group discussions, teamwork, and collaborative problem-solving. However, critical thinking skills and creativity still need to be improved. In addition, challenges were identified, including limited facilities and teachers’ lack of competence in implementing 4C-based learning.  The implications of this study highlight the importance of enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competence and providing equate learning resources to optimize the implementation of 4C-based learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomena of language interference that naturally arise when lower secondary school pupils use Indonesian as a second language in writing activities. The aim of this study is to identify various forms of language interference occurring at the phonological and morphological levels in descriptive texts written by pupils, whilst also analysing the factors that cause such interference to occur. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method employing a comparative analysis technique between Indonesian language structures that conform to linguistic norms and the language system commonly used by students in their daily lives as their first language. The results of the study indicate that the most dominant interference is found in the phonological aspect, for example, the change of the sound /p/ to /b/, /u/ to /o/, and /a/ to /e/. Furthermore, interference is also evident in the morphological aspect, such as the use of the suffix -an, the use of reduplication forms, and the combination of words that do not conform to the rules of word formation in Indonesian. The emergence of this phenomenon is influenced by the widespread use of Javanese in everyday communication, oral language habits, and students’ still limited mastery of the written rules of Indonesian.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the kinship between Javanese and Banjarese spoken in Central Kalimantan using a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach. The quantitative method is applied through lexicostatistical techniques, while the qualitative method focuses on analyzing linguistic similarities between the two languages. The main problem addressed in this study is the limited number of comparative studies that specifically examine the lexical relationship between Javanese and Banjarese. This research contributes by offering a detailed mapping of lexical similarities and sound change patterns, as well as providing recent empirical data from a region that has not been widely studied. The research data consist of 207 basic vocabulary items from the Swadesh list collected through observation and conversational methods. Four informants participated, including two native speakers of Javanese and two native speakers of Banjarese. The analysis was conducted by grouping vocabulary into categories, identifying pairs of words with similar forms and cognates, and describing phonemic correspondence patterns. The results show 44 pairs of related words. Identical pairs are the most frequent, totaling 26 word pairs, while the remaining pairs exhibit sound change patterns. These include phonemic correspondences between /a/ and /e/, /a/ and /o/, /u/ and /o/, the omission of the phoneme /h/, and the change of the phoneme /b/ to /w/. The percentage of relatedness is 21%, placing Javanese and Banjarese in the language stoch category according to Swadesh’s classification. These findings indicate regular and historically explainable phonemic similarities and differences, contributing to the study of language relatedness in Central Kalimantan.
