Abstract

Due to low levels of student engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic, elementary school students suffered significant learning losses, which served as the driving force behind this research. Teachers should be the key to solving problems. This research aims to measure how much influence the competence of professional elementary school teachers has on student engagement in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design and survey method. Data collection was carried out through teacher professional competency and student involvement questionnaires, with data sources coming from elementary school teachers and students in the western, eastern, and central regions of Indonesia. Samples were taken using the cluster random sampling technique. Quantitative data analysis was used with descriptive statistical stages, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and comparative analysis. The results of the hypothesis test also show that professional competence in the aspect of understanding content and understanding the curriculum has a significant influence on student engagement, while in the aspect of understanding student character, it does not have a significant influence. These results make an important contribution to teachers' ongoing professional development. Aspects of content development and curriculum development are recommended as priorities for self-development.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the cultural, social, and contextual factors that influence the practices of transformational leaders in Islamic-based schools, focusing on how these factors shape leadership styles and decision-making processes. Utilizing qualitative methods and NVivo software for data analysis, the study examines the roles of cultural values, social awareness, and community involvement in shaping the leadership practices of school principals. NVivo was employed to analyze and visualize key themes through tools such as word clouds, project map diagrams, and hierarchy charts, which helped identify and organize the most frequently mentioned concepts and relationships within the data. The findings highlight the significant impact of Islamic teachings, such as discipline, respect, cooperation, and transparency, in guiding leadership behaviors and decision-making. Culturally, leadership is deeply rooted in Islamic principles, fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment. Socially, leadership practices emphasize empathy, solidarity, and mutual aid, influencing leaders’ decisions in favor of the collective good. Contextually, routine religious practices and active community involvement contribute to the holistic development of students and staff, reinforcing the principles of collaboration and shared responsibility. Overall, this study underscores the importance of cultural, social, and contextual factors in shaping transformational leadership in Islamic-based schools, illustrating how these elements guide both leadership styles and decision-making processes toward achieving educational and spiritual goals.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the readiness of elementary school teachers in implementing diagnostic assessment as part of differentiated learning. This study will describe teachers' understanding of the concept of diagnostic assessment, teacher skills in implementing it, obstacles, and efforts to overcome obstacles in implementing the assessment. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research involving interviews. The study shows that teachers understand the concept, purpose, and time of diagnostic assessment well. Teachers realize how important diagnostic assessment is to identify students' learning needs and design appropriate learning approaches. However, teachers still face several challenges when starting to implement diagnostic assessment, such as difficulty in compiling assessment materials, determining sentences that are easy to understand, and problems with assessment mapping and time constraints. To overcome this problem, teachers make various efforts, such as seeking further information. Further research should focus on developing and evaluating training programs specifically designed to improve teachers’ ability to develop and implement diagnostic assessments, examining the use of technology to assist teachers in developing, mapping, and administering diagnostic assessments, or conducting comparative studies with schools in other regions or schools with different contexts to gain a broader understanding of variation in diagnostic assessment implementation and factors that influence teacher readiness.

Abstract

The problem raised in this research is that there are no studies that measure the influence of technology readiness on student acceptance of the Learning Management System. This research aims to analyze the influence of technology readiness on acceptance of the Learning Management System among students. This research uses a quantitative approach with an ex post facto type. The research method uses associative research to determine the causal relationship between technological readiness and the Learning Management System. The data collection technique uses a technology readiness questionnaire and the Learning Management System which is then analyzed using simple linear regression analysis with t-test hypothesis testing. The questionnaire consists of 27 valid statements representing indicators, optimism, innovation, discomfort, insecurity, usefulness, ease of use, and interest in using. Questionnaires were distributed to students via WhatsApp using accidental sampling technique and obtained 152 respondents. The results show that 66.8% of acceptance of the Learning Management System is influenced by technology readiness. Meanwhile, 33.2% is influenced by other variables. The results of this research indicate that there is a positive influence of technology readiness on acceptance of the Learning Management System. This means that the higher the technological readiness, the higher the acceptance of the Learning Management System. The implication is that technological readiness must be improved to optimize the use of the Learning Management System. High acceptance of the Learning Management System can provide support for the success of the online learning process.

Abstract

The low level of science literacy and student motivation demands innovative, relevant, and engaging learning media. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of a contextual-based plant encyclopedia in improving science literacy and student motivation in elementary schools. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research population consists of 4th-grade students from SD Kotagede 3, Yogyakarta, with a sample of 20 students selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments include pretest-posttest questions to measure science literacy, Guttman scale questionnaires for learning motivation, as well as observation sheets and interviews to support qualitative data. We analyzed the data using descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Wilcoxon test, as the assumption test results indicated that the data did not meet the criteria for normality and homogeneity. The research results show a significant increase in students' science literacy (p < 0.001), although there was no significant increase in learning motivation (p = 0.492). These findings indicate that context-based encyclopedias are highly effective in supporting students' understanding of science concepts through the presentation of engaging and structured information. However, the minimal impact on learning motivation indicates the need for additional strategies, such as teacher guidance and increased media interactivity. The implications of this research include the integration of context-based encyclopedias as effective learning media and the need for supporting strategies, such as longer intervention durations and teacher guidance for more optimal results.
