Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on learning, especially student learning motivation, which also has an impact on the Arabic language competence of high school students when they turn into university students. Students are not only required to be able to learn independently but also have to answer the challenges of the 21st century, especially to communicate using Arabic. The purpose of this article is to explore university students' motivation in learning Arabic after online learning and its correlation with their Arabic language competence. A quantitative approach was used with a bivariate correlation research method. The population of this study was students at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang with a sample of 1213 people with diverse scientific specifications. The research analysis was conducted with prerequisite test followed by correlation test and univariate test. The results showed that the motivation to learn Arabic language of students of Arabic language education study program has a positive and significant correlation with the level of Arabic language competence despite having gone through online learning for several years when students are in secondary education. Therefore, it is important for Arabic teachers to continue to innovate in learning by using digital learning media to increase motivation in Arabic. Learning should also be based on digital literacy, so that students can become agents of change by breaking the shackles of the lack of infrastructure in schools and replacing them with media that are ready to access and fill content related to Arabic language learning.

Abstract

Arabic language proficiency is a vital outcome of pesantren (Islamic boarding school) education, as these institutions are expected to produce graduates who are not only capable of understanding Arabic texts but also able to communicate effectively in the global context. In line with this expectation, Arabic language instruction within pesantren often places disproportionate emphasis on grammatical rules (nahwu), while overlooking the importance of active usage and linguistic discipline. However, it is precisely these aspects, active engagement and disciplined usage, that serve as the foundation for strong language performance among students. This article examined the key determinants of Arabic language proficiency among students at Pesantren Aishwa Nahla by examining their mastery of grammar (nahwu), level of active engagement, and consistency in linguistic discipline. A correlational research method was employed to collect and analyze data from a randomly selected sample of students at the pesantren. The instruments used included written tests and questionnaires. The findings revealed that most students demonstrate a solid understanding of Arabic grammar and show a relatively high level of active language use. Notably, linguistic discipline emerged as the most influential factor contributing to students’ Arabic language competence. These results underscored the need for an instructional approach that emphasized the habitual and integrated use of Arabic, enabling students to maintain focus and discipline throughout the language acquisition process within the pesantren environment. This research contributes to the development of effective Arabic language teaching strategies in Islamic educational institutions within the pesantren system.

Abstract

XXI Century Education experienced a paradigm change because it was influenced by the response of the world of education to the Industrial Revolution 4.0. On the other hand, the Industrial Revolution 4.0 helped encourage the birth of the Educational 4.0 era which was perceived by many parties as an era of the use of digital technology in the learning process, or known as the cyber system) which was able to make the learning process continuously without limit of space and time. The Indonesian government's policy to implement the 2013 curriculum (K-13) in learning is the answer to various expectations for various skills that must be possessed by learners in the XXI century. Learning is termed with 4C (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Creativity and Innovation) which is the real ability to go to the K-13 learning. This goal is certainly only able to be realized if the learning is done at school using high-level thinking skills (Higher Order Thingking Skills/HOTS) which is defined as the wider use of thoughts to find new challenges.

Abstract

The doctrine of essentialism, one of the traditional schools of educational philosophy, states that values in education must be based on distinct and enduring values in order for education in a country to remain stable and purposeful. The purpose of this research is to examine the implications of the philosophy of essentialism education in character education. The research method used is a literature study based on content analysis. The results show that the purpose of essentialism education philosophy is to improve the character of society through the cultural heritage that still exists, so that students in the future can contribute to the improvement of people's lives in the face of changing times that can erode students' morals. Abstract

Abstract

Maharah kitabah (writing skills) is an important component in Arabic language learning that requires an innovative approach. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and scrabble media in improving Arabic writing skills of students at SDIT Al Hidayah Palembang. This study uses a combination research method (mix method) with a sequential explanatory model, involving 23 fifth grade students who became the experimental class. The research instruments include observation, interviews, documentation, pre-test and post-test. The results showed that the application of PBL and scrabble media significantly improved Arabic writing skills, with an average increase in post-test scores reaching 85.87 compared to the average pre-test of only 65.00. The findings of the study revealed that the combination of the PBL model and scrabble media was effective in optimizing maharah kitabah, increasing active participation, learning motivation, and students' creativity in writing Arabic. This study provides theoretical and practical contributions to the development of innovative and interactive Arabic language learning strategies.
