Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the junior high school students’ scientific literacy profile in integrated science learning on the environmental pollution theme. The subjects were the 7th grade of Junior High School in Bandung city. The method of this study was descriptive. Data was collected using a test of science literacy, attitude scales, performance assessment sheet, questionnaire sheet, and interview format. Integrated science learning using scientific approach. Average scientific literacy for all student was 69%, the attainment of student scientific competence in identifying scientific issues was 77%, in explaining phenomena scientifically was 72%, and in utilizing scientific evidence was 59%. The attainment of student scientific literacy in domain content science was 81% in air pollution and acid rain, 74% in soil pollution, 60% in global warming and 56% in water pollution. The attainment of student’s attitudes toward science in supporting scientific inquiry was very high category, responsibility toward resources and environment and interest in science was high category. The average of performance assessment when doing practicum was 80%, and on practicum report was 65%. Teacher and students responded positively to the integrated science learning and it’s assessment. Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian pengembangan telah dilakukan untuk menemukan model-model perkuliahan kimia berbasis hipeteks, dan dikembangkan dengan memperhatikan upaya peningkatan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Model perkuliahan dikembangkan interaktif dengan memanfaatkan software Swish Max2. Pengembangan model diawali dengan analisis konsep dan analisis keterampilan berpikir kritis yang potensial dikembangkan dalam perkuliahan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan sedikitnya ada lima pokok bahasan yang tingkat abstraksinya tinggi, yaitu elektrokimia, kesetimbangan kimia, larutan, energetika dan kinetika kimia. Jenis konsep yang teridentifikasi adalah konsep konkrit, konsep berdasarkan prinsip, konsep abstrak dengan contoh konkrit, dan konsep abstrak. Sementara itu, keterampilan berpikir kritis yang dapat dikembangkan dalam perkuliahan adalah (1) Mengidentifikasi/ merumuskan pertanyaan. (2) Mengidentifikasi kesimpulan, mengidentifikasi alasan yang dikemukakan, mengidentifikasi alasan yang tidak dikemukakan, menemukan persamaan dan perbedaan, mengidentifikasi hal yang relevan, menemukan struktur/rumus, merangkum. (3) Menjawab pertanyaan mengapa, menjawab pertanyaan tentang alasan utama, menjawab pertanyaan tentang fakta. (4) Menyesuaikan dengan sumber, memberikan alasan, kebiasaan berhati-hati. (5) Melaporkan berdasarkan pengamatan, melaporkan generalisasi eksperimen, mempertegas pemikiran, mengkondisikan cara yang baik. (6) Menginterpetasikan pertanyaan. (7) Menggeneralisasikan, meneliti. (8) Menerapkan prinsip/rumus, mempertimbangkan alternatif. (9) Menentukan strategi terdefinisi, menentukan definisi materi subyek. (10) Mengidentifikasi asumsi dari alasan yang tidak dikemukakan, mengkonstruksi pernyataan. (11) Merumuskan masalah, memilih kriteria untuk mempertimbangkan penyelesaian, merumuskan alternatif penyelesaian, menentukan hal yang dilakukan secara tentative, merangkum dengan mempertimbangkan situasi lalu memutuskan. (12) Menggunakan strategi logis Kata kunci: Model Pembelajaran Kimia, Teknologi Informasi, HiperteksABSTRACTThe research and development has been done to find models courses using hypertext model, and developed with attention to improve the mastery of concepts and critical thinking skills of students. The models were developed interactively on using Swish Max2 software. The development of models was begun with the concept analysis and critical thinking skills analysis those potentially developed in the course. The results of the analysis showed there were at least five subjects those had high level abstraction, namely electrochemistry, chemical equilibrium, solution, energetic and chemical kinetics. Types of concept those identified were concrete concept, concept based on principles, abstract concept with concrete examples and abstract concept. Meanwhile, critical thinking skills that can be developed in h course are 1) Identifying or formulating question; (2) Identifying conclusions, identifying reasons, seeing similarities and differences, identifying and handling irrelevance, seeing the structure of an argument and summarizing; (3) Answering the why question, primary reason question, and question with fact; (4) Judging the credibility of a source, ability to give reasons, careful habits; (5) Report by observer, report generalize experiment, and conditions of good access; (6) Question interpretation; (7) generalizing, researching; (8) Using principle/formula, considerate of alternative; (9) Determining define strategy, determining define subjects; (10) Identifying assume of not presented reason, construction of question; (11) Define the problem, select criteria to judge possible solutions, formulate alternative solutions, tentatively decide what to do, review, taking into account the total situations, and decide; (12) Using logical strategies.Key words: Chemistry models of teaching, Information Technology (IT), Hypertext

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh rubrik asesmen kinerja untuk mengukur kompetensi mahasiswa dalam melakukan praktikum kimia analitik dasar, khususnya analisis volumetri dengan validitas dan reliabilitas yang memadai. Pengembangan dimulai dari analisis kebutuhan, perumusan draf rubrik, revisi berdasarkan saran dan pertimbangan pakar dan mahasiswa, validasi dan uji coba lapangan  sehingga diketahui reliabilitasnya. Rubrik yang diperoleh mempunyai validitas dan reliabilitas yang sangat baik (excellent) dengan harga a =0,8935. Hampir seluruh mahasiswa berkompeten dalam melakukan praktikum analisis volumetri. Kata kunci : rubrik, asesmen, kompetensi ABSTRACT This study aims to obtain a performance assessment rubric to measure student competency in performing basic analytical chemistry practicum, especially volumetric analysis with adequate reliability and validity. Development starts from the needs analysis, formulation of the draft rubrics, revisions based on expert advice and consideration and students, validation and field trials so that the known reliability. Rubric validity and reliability have gained a excellent at a = 0.8935. Almost all students are competent in performing volumetric analysis practicum. Key words: the rubric, assessment, competency

Abstract

Information literacy is closely related to critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are related to exploring and evaluating information to make argumentation with relevant and appropriate information. It includes analyzing and synthesizing information to solve a problem where these activities are part of information literacy. Thus, information literacy-based learning should be able to enhance critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the correlation between critical thinking skills and student’s information literacy enhancement through learning chemistry with the PjBL-IL model on the biogas production context. This study used a pre-experimental method - one group pretest-posttest design involving 32 high school students. Students' critical thinking and information literacy skills were measured using tests. Critical thinking skills and information literacy enhancement on high and medium category with N-gain score are 72.90% and 66.20% respectively and show a low correlation with a correlation coefficient value of 0.144. Where the basic support indicator has a negative correlation (r = -0.105). Thus, critical thinking skills enhancement is not always in line with information literacy.

Abstract

Abstract Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan : (1) pandangan siswa terhadap internalisasi nilai tauhid melalui materi termokimia (INTMMK); (2) kesediaan siswa untuk menerima internalisasi nilai tauhid dalam materi pelajaran IPA (INTIPA). Penelitian melibatkan 18 subjek siswa SMA Plus Al-Azhar Medan semester 3. Setelah pembelajaran termokimia selesai siswa diminta untuk mengisi kuesioner yang terdiri dari 4 pernyataan untuk mengungkapkan pandangan siswa dan 3 pernyataan untuk mengungkapkan tingkat kesediaan siswa. Kuesioner dengan rubrik 5 skala, telah direview oleh 2 orang ahli dan diuji coba. Hasil menunjukkan : (1) pandangan siswa terhadap INTMMK sanga tpositif dengan skor rata-rata 87,2 (skala 100). Perolehan skor rata-rata untuk masing-masing pernyataan : 82,2; 85,6; 88,9; dan 92,9 berturut-turut untuk pernyataan bahwa INTMMK dapat memberikan : Pemahaman agama; Pemahaman yang lebih baik pada isi/materi termokimia dan pada nilai-nilai agama; Pemahaman bahwa materi termokimia merupakan bagian dari tanda-tanda kekuasaan Allah; Dorongan kesadaran untu kmeningkatkan ibadah kepada Allah. Rata-rata sebanyak 16 dari 18 siswa (88,89%) memiliki pandangan positif terhadap INTMMK dengan tingkat internalisasi “mendalam” dan “sangat mendalam”. (2) kesediaan siswa untuk menerima INTIPA sanga tpositif, perolehan skor rata-rata 90. Perolehan skor rata-rata untuk pernyataan “nilai tauhid perlu dijelaskan saat guru mengajar materi pelajaran” : kimia, fisika, dan biologi berturut-turut : 88,9; 86,7; dan 94,4. Rata-rata ada 16 dari 18 siswa (88,9%) menyatakan INT perlu dilakukan pada materi pelajaran IPA. Dengan kategori tingkat penerimaan “sangat perlu” dan “perlu”.

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to explore the evolving trend of research directions in the field of game in STEM learning. This research uses Scopus search analysis, Microsoft Excel software, and VOS viewer software. Based on 1489 articles (488 selected documents) selected from Scopus indexed journals, co-authorship, co-citation, co-occurrence, cluster, and content analysis were conducted. The results of the quantitative analysis showed that hugely important work on games of STEM education, namely computer game and digital game base learning. The literature on games in STEM education has explored fourteen hot themes during the last couple of decades: STEM, digital game, active learning, game based learning,  game, project based learning, serious game, creative self efficacy, teaching concept, learning content, industri 4.0, STEM activities, game element, and  interactive learning environment. The bibliometric study conducted gives a thorough and complete picture of STEM education research that may be valuable for scholars interested in furthering future understanding in this field.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the media in improving science process skills. The effectiveness of visual media was further investigated using the Quasi-Experimental method with a pre-post test control group design. Learning is carried out using a cooperative model of investigative group type. The population is all students of class VIII of one junior high school in West Java academic as many as 324 students. This study aims to develop GI type cooperative learning to improve students' process skills and concept mastery. Science was compiled using cooperative learning with group investigation, but non-visual media in the control class. The results showed that visual media can improve science process skills and mastery of vibration and wave material concepts. It can be seen that the N-Gain value is 55% for science process skills (medium category) and 67% (medium category) for concept mastery. Conclusion of the research can be seen that the use of visual media material vibrations and waves in cooperative learning investigative group type can improve skills, mastery of concepts and motivate students to be active in learning compared with investigative group type cooperative learning without the use of visual media.

Abstract

Paper ini memetakan berbagai perspektif tentang game edukasi dan pengaruhnya terhadap kreativitas serta menyatukan pemikiran terbaru di bidang ini. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan teknologi berupa educational game dapat meningkatkan kreativitas siswa dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Tinjauan Sistematis ini menggunakan 20 publikasi yang berasal indexed journal antara tahun 2011 hingga 2020 untuk menyoroti fokus bidang penelitian ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah systematic review dengan pedoman Kitchenham terhadap studi penggunaan educational game untuk meningkatkan kreativitas siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan educational game memiliki efek aktif dalam memperkuat pemikiran kreatif siswa. Studi ini memberikan saran tentang bagaimanakah metode untuk meningkatkan kreativitas, memotivasi, dan meningkatkan hasil belajar serta mendemonstrasikan pembelajaran dengan educational game. Studi ini memberikan sebuah pandangan untuk peneliti, desainer game, pengembang di bidang educational game dan kreativitas. Research trend on the educational game to improve students’ creativity: A systematic review of literature  AbstractThis paper maps different perspectives on educational games and their impact on creativity and brings together the latest thinking in this area. The main objective of this study was to determine whether the use of technology in the form of educational games could increase student creativity in classroom learning. This Systematic Review uses 20 publications from indexed journals between 2011 and 2020 to highlight the focus of this research area. The method used in this study is a systematic review of Kitchenham's guidelines on the study of the use of educational games to increase student creativity. The results of this study indicate that the use of educational games has an active effect in strengthening students' creative thinking. This study provides suggestions on how to increase creativity, motivate, and improve learning outcomes as well as demonstrate learning with educational games. This study provides a view for researchers, game designers, developers in the fields of educational games and creativity.

Abstract

Materi listrik (utamanya listrik dinamis) di SMP merupakan materi yang tergolong sulit. Kurangnya inovasi guru dalam membelajarkan materi ini merupakan salahsatu faktor penyebabnya. Demikian pula, kurangnya guru melatihkan kerja ilmiah sebagai ciri dari pembelajaran sains menyebabkan pemahaman siswa terhadap sains menjadi kurang bermakna. Dalam proyek ini telah dikembangkan pembelajaran berbasis kerja investigasi untuk membangun kerja ilmiah siswa, dan selanjutnya untuk meningkatkan literasi siswa secara utuh. Penelitian dengan metode kuasi eksperimen ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan satu kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas kontrol yang diasumsikan memiliki homogenitas yang sama. Kerja ilmiah siswa diukur dengan penilaian fortofolio keterampilan proses, menggunakan instrumen lembar observasi dan angket, serta format wawancara/lisan. Literasi sains diukur dengan menggunakan instrumen tes pilihan berganda beralasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kerja investigasi dapat mendorong siswa untuk belajar lebih bermakna dan menyebabkan keterampilan proses siswa terlatih. Lebih lanjut pembelajaran yang mengakomodasi belajar aktif siswa dapat meningkatkan literasi sains siswa. Do scientific inquiry within group investigation enhance scientific work and science literacy of student?AbstractDynamic electricity is one of the difficult topic of science for secondary school student. Lack of teacher innovation and less practicing scientific work to student make the learning is not something awaited and meaningless. The dynamic electricity learning based on group investigation on using scientific inquiry approach has developed to build students’ scientific work skills. By the project, it was also learnt the enhance of students’ science literacy as an impact of the treatment. The quasi experimental methods was used with the control group pre-posttest designed. The two groups of student were used, one group as a control class, and the other group was the experimental class. The two groups were choosen based on the homogenity of learning achievement. The scientific work skills were assessed on using portopolio of students’ process skills (observation sheet, questionaire, and interview). The science literacy was assessed on using multiple choice test elaborated with the description/reason. The research shows that group investigation with scientific inquiry drove student to learn meaningfull and it led to the enhancing of students’ science process skills. Moreover, students’ science literacy can be improved through the active student learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' environmental literacy levels through survey methods and determine the relations between each environmental literacy indicator. The research sample was 80 junior high school students in Bogor. The collection technique was carried out using environmental literacy instruments adapted from the Middle Schools Environmental Literacy Survey/Instrument (MSELS/I) questions by NELA with modifications to the context of environmental pollution. Data acquisition was transformed and interpreted using the NELA transformation method. The results showed that students' environmental literacy was still low; knowledge (23.2%) is in the medium category, cognitive skills (11.4%) are in the low category, environmental attitudes (40.8%) is in the medium category and environmental behavior (22.2%) is in the low category with the results of achieving the entire student literacy domain of 97.8 (low). The results of further research show that there is a relation between knowledge and attitudes, knowledge with behavior, and attitudes with behavior, and there is no relation between cognitive skills and knowledge, attitudes and behaviors. A considerable contribution from other factors that affect each indicator of environmental literacy will be a chance for follow up research.
