Abstract

This research was initiated due to concerns regarding the low employability skills among vocational education graduates. A number of contributing factors have been identified, such as limited exposure to industrial field experience, insufficient mental preparedness, and a lack of comprehensive understanding of the professional work environment. The aim of this study is to investigate the extent to which industrial field experience and mental readiness impact employability skills, with the understanding of the world of work serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative research design was employed, utilizing the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method, which is well-suited for analyzing complex relationships among latent variables, particularly when the data does not meet the assumption of normality and involves multiple indicators. The results demonstrate that industrial field experience (PLI), mental preparedness, and understanding of the world of work significantly affect the employability skills of students in the Cosmetology and Beauty Study Program. In addition, the understanding of the world of work was found to significantly mediate the effects of both industrial field experience and mental preparedness on students' employability outcomes

Abstract

Skin problems, especially on the face, are often considered to diminish appearance and require significant expense. However, caring for the face with natural ingredients is safer because they are free of chemicals. The natural ingredient in question is papaya seeds, which contain the enzyme papain, which can prevent wrinkles, minimize pores, and moisturize the skin. Besides being a food ingredient, black sticky rice can also benefit skin beauty by slowing premature aging, thanks to its high antioxidant and anthocyanin content, vitamin E, and fiber. This study aims to determine the physical properties of papaya seed and black sticky rice masks, including color, aroma, texture, and panelist preferences. This is an experimental study with papaya seed and black sticky rice masks as the subjects. This quantitative study used experimental methods. Data collection methods included observation and panelist preferences for color, aroma, texture, and adhesive power. Two cosmetology and beauty lecturers, along with 10 female students from the University of North Sumatra (UNP), studied the color, aroma, texture, and adhesiveness of the masks. The results of the study showed that using a papaya seed and black sticky rice mask effectively treated dry skin. The skin exhibited a gray color from the mixture of papaya seed powder and black sticky rice, a fragrant and pleasant aroma, a very smooth texture, and good elasticity, feeling firm and supple.

Abstract

Hair is an important part of head protection from exposure to outside air. The problem of hair loss is suffered by many people. Aloe vera is a natural ingredient that is traditionally used to overcome the problem of hair loss. Some studies show the use of aloe vera can be used as an alternative hair care that plays a role in treating dry hair, strengthening hair roots, and reducing hair loss. Lime is one of the medicinal plants that can be used to kill bacteria that cause dandruff. Objective: Knowing the effectiveness of aloe vera gel extract on hair growth so that hair does not fall out and the scalp is clean anti-dandruff. Method: Experimental research with 9 panelists, including 2 lecturers, 3 general public, and 5 students. Based on the results of this study shows the effect of the use of aloe vera and lime in scalp and hair care on increasing the results of reducing hair loss.Based on experimental results from several samples selected on color with panelists preferring Fr 3, which is attractive with a score of 44.44%. Abstract

This study aims to examine the various issues faced by elementary school (SD) students in solving problem-solving tasks in mathematics through a literature review approach. Problem-solving is one of the essential skills in mathematics learning, closely linked to higher-order thinking abilities. However, several research findings indicate that many elementary school students struggle to understand and solve problem-solving tasks. This study collects and analyzes various literature sources, including national journals, scientific articles, and relevant reference books. The findings reveal that common issues faced by students include: (1) insufficient understanding of basic mathematical concepts, (2) difficulties in reading and understanding word problems, (3) limitations in formulating problem-solving strategies, and (4) lack of reflection and evaluation skills regarding the obtained answers. In addition to the internal factors of students, external aspects such as less contextual teaching approaches, limited use of engaging learning media, and insufficient support from the learning environment also contribute to these problems. This study recommends strengthening a systematic and adaptive problem-solving-based learning approach from an early age to enhance students' critical thinking abilities in mathematics.
