Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the optimum level of Zinc (Zn) enrichment in Artemia sp. nauplii as a live feed to improve bone formation and growth of climbing perch Anabas testudinieus larvae. The study consisted of four different Zn enrichment levels (0.0, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 mg/mL) in Artemia sp.nauplii. The enrichment was performed for 12 hours with the nauplii density of 1 ind/mL. Climbing perch larvae with an average initial length of 1.65 ± 0.15 mm were fed four times daily with the enriched nauplii. For the first 5 days, all larvae were fed with rotifer followed by feeding with enriched Artemia nauplii ad libitum. The results showed that the application of Artemia sp. enrichment at 0.1 mg Zn/mL influenced the bone formation, increased the growth, and improved the fish survival of climbing perch larvae. Feeding with 0.1 mg/mL Zn enriched Artemia nauplii could be recommended as a strategy to improve the bone formation and growth performance of climbing perch larvae. Keywords: Anabas testudineus, Artemia sp., climbing perch, live feed, zinc ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan dosis optimum pengayaan seng (Zn) pada naupli Artemia sp. terhadap pembentukan tulang dan peningkatan pertumbuhan larva ikan betok. Penelitian dilakukan selama 18 hari dengan empat dosis pengayaan Zn yang berbeda (0, 0,05, 0,1, dan 0,15 mg/mL) pada naupli Artemia. Pengayaan dilakukan selama 12 jam dengan kepadatan naupli 1 ind/mL. Larva ikan betok dengan ukuran panjang awal rata-rata 1.65 ± 0.15 mm diberi pakan naupli yang diperkaya sebanyak 4 kali sehari. Pada lima hari pertama, semua larva diberi pakan rotifer, diikuti dengan pemberian naupli Artemia yang diperkaya secara ad libitum. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pengayaan naupli Artemia sp. dengan Zn 0,1 mg/mL berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan tulang belakang dan dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan serta meningkatkan kelangsungan hidup larva ikan betok. Pemberian naupli Artemia dengan Zn sebanyak 0.1 mg Zn/mL dapat direkomendasikan untuk perbaikan pembentukan tulang dan pertumbuhan larva ikan betok. Abstract

Cultivation of Moina sp is still constrained by its quality, productivity, and sustainability. The alternative solution is the use of cultivation media materials that have high nutritional content and easily available in large quantities to support the quality and productivity of Moina sp. and meet the needs of live feed. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of various culture medium on the productivity and nutritional quality of Moina sp.. Five culture media were tested in laboratory scale, i.e. organic ingredient (BO), Chlorella sp. (Ch), Chlorella sp. + organic ingredients (ChBO), biofloc (BF) and biofloc + organic ingredients (BFBO). While in mass scale, four culture media were tested, i.e. Chlorella sp. (Ch), Chlorella sp. + Organic Ingredients (ChBO), Biofloc (BF) and Biofloc + Organic Ingredients (BFBO). The peaks of Moina sp. density in different treatments were achieved in different days. ChBO treatments significantly had higher productivity (P<0.05). The highest protein content was found in Moina sp. cultured with ChBO media, even higher than artemia. Moina sp. cultured with Chlorella sp. (Ch) showed the highest PUFA (Poly Unsaturated Fatty Acids) contents, while the highest MUFA (mono unsaturated fatty acids) contents was obtained from Moina sp. cultured with BFBO media lower than artemia. The study results indicates that different culture media produces different productivity and nutrient quality of Moina sp. The organic material combination of Chlorella sp. + organic material (ChBO) was the best media to improve the productivity and protein quality of Moina sp. Keywords : Biofloc, Chlorella sp., Moina sp., organic matter, productivity, quality ABSTRAK Budidaya Moina sp. masih terkendala pada kualitas, produktivitas dan kestabilan dalam ketersediaannya. Untuk itu diperlukan penggunaan bahan media budidaya yang memiliki kandungan nutrisi tinggi dan mudah didapat dalam jumlah banyak untuk mendukung kualitas dan produktivitas Moina sp. demi memenuhi kebutuhan pakan hidup. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengevaluasi pengaruh berbagai media budidaya terhadap produktivitas dan kualitas nutrisi Moina sp. Lima media kultur yang diuji dalam penelitian laboratorium yaitu Bahan Organik (BO), Chlorella sp. (Ch), Chlorella sp. + Bahan Organik (ChBO), Bioflok (BF) dan Bioflok + Bahan Organik (BFBO). Sedangkan pada penelitian skala massal diuji empat media kultur yaitu Chlorella sp. (Ch), Chlorella sp. + Bahan Organik (ChBO), Bioflok (BF) dan Bioflok + Bahan Organik (BFBO). Puncak kepadatan Moina sp. pada tiap perlakuan dicapai pada hari yang berbeda. Perlakuan ChBO memiliki produktivitas yang lebih tinggi (P<0,05). Kandungan protein Moina sp. tertinggi ditemukan pada media ChBO dan bahkan lebih tinggi dari pada artemia. Moina sp. yang dibudidayakan dengan Chlorella sp. (Ch), menunjukkan kandungan PUFA tertinggi, sedangkan kandungan MUFA yang tertinggi terdapat pada Moina sp. yang dibudidayakan dengan bahan media BFBO namun masih lebih rendah jika dibandingkan dengan kandungan pada artemia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan media kultur yang berbeda menghasilkan produktivitas dan kualitas nutrisi moina yang berbeda. Kombinasi bahan organik Chlorella + bahan organik (ChBO) merupakan media terbaik dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas nutrisi terutama protein Moina sp. Abstract

Betaine plays some important roles in feed utilization and fish metabolism. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of dietary betaine supplementation on the growth performance and feed utilizationin hybrid grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus♂ × Epinephelus fuscoguttatus♀). A completely randomized experimental design with four dietary levels of betaine, i.e.0.0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, and 2.0% in quadruplicate was done.Hybrid grouper juvenile obtained from Brackishwater Aquaculture Development Center, Situbondo, with an initial body length and body weight of 5.89 ± 0.05 cm and 2.86 ± 0.09 g, respectively was used as the tested animal. The fish was maintained in 60 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm aquaria with 75 L working capacity with individual recirculating system with a fish density of 15 fish/aquarium for 50 days. Experimental diet was provided to apparent satiation twice a day. The results of this study demonstrated that dietary betaine at a level of 0.5% resulted in higher feed utilization efficiency, protein and methionine retentions, and growth performance and lower ammonia excretion than those of the control (P<0.05). Higher antioxidative status was indicated by the lower malondialdehyde (MDA) in the liver of fish fed with betaine supplemented diets at levels of 1 - 2%. In conclusion, betaine supplementation of 0.5% could increase feed utilization efficiency and growth performance of hybdrid grouper. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh suplementasi betain pada pakan terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan dan pemanfaatan pakan pada juvenil ikan kerapu hybrid cantang (Epinephelus lanceolatus♂ × Epinephelus fuscoguttatus♀). Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan pakan dengan tingkat suplementasi betain yang berbeda, yaitu 0.0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, dan 2.0% dengan empat ulangan. Juvenil ikan kerapu cantang yang berasal dari Balai Pengembangan Budidaya Laut Situbondo dengan panjang dan bobot awal masing-masing 5.89 ± 0.05 cm and 2.86 ± 0.09 g digunakan sebagai hewan uji dalam penelitian ini. Ikan dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 60 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm dengan kapasitas 75L yang dilengkapi dengan sistem resirkulasi individu dengan kepadatan 15 ekor per akuarium selama 50 hari. Pakan uji diberikan hingga sekenyangnya dua kali sehari. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi betain sebanyak 0.5% menghasilkan pemanfaatan pakan, retensi protein, retensi metionina, kinerja pertumbuhan dan ekskresi ammonia yang lebih baik daripada kontrol (P<0.05). Status antioksidasi yang lebih juga yang ditunjukkan dengan lebih rendahnya konsentrasi malondialdehid (MDA) pada hati ikan yang diberi pakan dengan suplementasi 1-2% betain. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa suplementasi betain sebanyak 0.5% dapat meningkatkan efisiensi pemanfaatan pakan dan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan kerapu cantang.

Abstract

Striped catfish Pangasianodon hypophthalamus is one of the intensive cultured commodities. Disease outbreak becomes inevitable to prevent in a fish culture. One of the most frequent disease occurred in striped catfish is the motile aeromonas septicemia (MAS) disease caused by Aeromonas hydrophila. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of 1% dietary cinnamon powder and 0.5% dietary cinnamon leaf extract on the immune response of striped catfish challenged with A. hydrophila. Striped catfish used in this study sizing of 5.80 ± 0.21 g. This study contained two phases, namely in vitro and in vivo tests. In vitro test contained inhibition zone and antibacterial tests, which demonstrates that 1% cinnamon powder and 0.5% cinnamon leaf extract are effective to inhibit A. hydrophila activity. In vivo test contained four treatments, i.e fish fed with 1% cinnamon leaf powder supplemented diet; 0.5% cinnamon leaf extract supplemented diet, positive control diet, and negative control diet. Each treatment was performed in three replications. The result showed that 1% cinnamon leaf powder supplemented diet obtained the best results to enhance the immune response of striped catfish higher survival rate value at 83.33% than the positive control diet (P<0.05). ABSTRAK Ikan patin Pangasianodon hypophthalamus termasuk komoditas yang banyak dibudidayakan secara intensif. Kendala budidaya seperti penyakit pun sulit untuk dihindari. Salah satu jenis penyakit yang kerap menyerang ikan patin yaitu penyakit MAS (motile aermomonad septicaemia) yang disebabkan oleh Aeromonas hydrophila. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas 1% (w/w) tepung dan 0,5% (w/w) ekstrak daun kayu manis dalam pakan sebagai upaya pencegahan infeksi bakteri A. hydrophila pada ikan patin. Ikan patin yang digunakan berukuran 5,80 ± 0,21 g. Penelitian ini terdiri dua tahap yaitu uji in vitro dan uji in vivo. Hasil uji in vitro terhadap aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan bahwa dosis 1% (w/w) tepung daun kayu manis dan 0.5% (w/w) ekstrak daun kayu manis efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan A. hydrophila. Uji in vivo terdiri atas empat perlakuan yaitu pemberian pakan dengan penambahan tepung daun kayu manis 1% (w/w), pemberian pakan dengan penambahan ekstrak daun kayu manis 0,5% (w/w), kontrol positif, dan kontrol negatif dengan masing-masing perlakuan terdiri atas tiga ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan 1% (w/w) tepung daun kayu manis dalam pakan memberikan hasil terbaik dalam meningkatkan respons imun ikan patin dengan tingkat kelangsungan hidup sebesar 83,33% lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol positif (P<0,05). Abstract

ABSTRACT Cultivation of Panulirus homarus lobster is now carried out with sub-mersible net cage system at a certain depth in order to obtain optimal temperature, light and water pressure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the health status of the sand lobster P. homarus which was kept in sub-mersible net cage system measuring 250 cm × 272 cm × 135 cm with a depth of 6 m and 8 m in the waters of Semak Daun Island, Seribu Islands, DKI Jakarta. The average size of lobster seeds used was 93.23 ± 0.99 g/head with a density of 4 lobsters/m2. Lobsters were fed trash fish, molluscs and crustaceans, with a frequency of twice a day at 07.00 WIB 30% and 17.00 WIB 70% of the lobster biomass weight. This study used a completely randomized design with the two depth treatments mentioned above and three replications. Observations of total haemocyte count, differential haemocyte count, phenoloxidase activity, respiratory burst phagocytic activity and histology of lobster hepatopancreas were performed twice every 14 days. Based on the above observations, the depth does not affect the immune response, there is no visible damage to the cells and tissues of the lobster hepatopancreas. Abstract

Vibrio alginolyticus which becomes the main cause of vibriosis disease in grouper culture and causes great economic loss in Asian aquaculture industries. This study investigated the antibacterial activity of clove extract and the effect of adding clove powder to the diet on survival cantang grouper infected with V. alginolyticus. The clove extraction used a maceration method. Two dose levels of clove powder were used, namely 10 and 15 g kg−1. The control treatments without clove powder supplementation contained positive control (CP) and negative control treatment (CN). The results found that the clove extract contained five major compounds. The highest compound was phenol, 2-methoxy-4-(2-propenyl)-Eugenol (64.07%). Phytochemical analysis of clove extract contained phenolics, flavonoids, and tannins at (28.53 ± 0.00) mg/g, (0.38 ± 0.00) mg/g, and (0.15 ± 0.00) %, respectively. The diameter of the clove extract inhibition zone was significantly different (P < 0.05) in all treatments. The Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) result presents that the clove extract can alter the V. alginolyticus cell morphology. The dietary supplementation of clove powder improves the survival rate significantly higher (P<0.05) post-challenge test. The conclusion of this research is that clove extract has antibacterial activity that can inhibit growth and cause cell morphological damage to V. alginolyticus. The application of clove powder at a dose of 15g kg-1 was able to improve the survival value which was a higher post-challenge test. Abstract

Coffee by-products can be used as a feed additive for red Nile tilapia. This study aimed to evaluate the utilization of different dietary coffee husk supplementation dosages on the growth and antioxidative activity of red Nile tilapia (Oreochromis sp.). This study was designed following the completely randomized design experimental method, containing five dietary supplementation treatments, namely P0 (control, 0%), P1 (1%), P2 (2%), P3 (3%), and P4 (4%). Fish were reared for 8 weeks and fed three times a day. Parameters observed contained growth performance and antioxidative activity. The results showed that dietary coffee husk powder supplementation treatments provide higher growth than control treatment. Based on blood chemicals, coffee husk-supplemented diets could enhance the HDL content and reduce cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL (P<0.05). Superoxide dismutase enzyme was also found higher in coffee husk supplemented diets than in control diet (P<0.05). The MDA level decreased on the coffee husk-supplemented diet treatment and was lower than the control treatment (P<0.05). Dietary supplementation of coffee husk could positively affect liver performance, based on hepatosomatic index and glycogen level. This study concludes that 4% coffee husk in the diet is considered the best treatment to improve the growth and antioxidation level of red Nile tilapia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pemanfaatan tepung kulit dengan dosis berbeda terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan dan antioksidan ikan nila merah (Oreochromis sp.). Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terdiri dari lima perlakuan pakan, yaitu P0 (Kontrol), P1 (1%), P2 (2%), P3 (3%) dan P4 (4%). Pemeliharaan dilakukan selama 60 hari dengan frekuensi pemberian pakan sebanyak 3 kali sehari. Parameter yang diamati adalah kinerja pertumbuhan dan antioksidan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pemberian tepung kulit kopi dalam pakan memberikan pertumbuhan yang lebih tinggi dari perlakuan kontrol. Profil biokimia darah menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung kulit kopi meningkatkan HDL dan menurunkan kolesterol, trigliserida dan LDL pada ikan yang diberi pakan perlakuan yang mengandung kulit kopi lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan control (P<0,05). Enzim SOD lebih tinggi pada ikan yang diberi pakan perlakuan kulit kopi dibandingkan control (P<0,05). Kadar MDA menurun pada perlakuan penambahan tepung kulit kopi dan lebih rendah dari perlakuan control (P<0,05). Suplementasi tepung kulit kopi berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja hati yang ditunjukkan pada nilai indeks hepatosomatik dan glikogen hati. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa, penggunaan tepung kulit sebesar 4% dalam pakan dianggap paling baik dalam meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan dan antioksidan pada ikan nila. Abstract

Eel (Anguilla bicolor) in the grow-out culture requires good fingerling seeds. Increasing the eel productivity can be done by increasing the stocking density, that should be balanced with good environmental and feed management. This study aimed to analyze the production and business performance of fingerlings in a recirculation system to increase the eel survival and growth rate. The study used a completely randomized design with three different stocking densities, namely 4 g/L (A), 5 g/L (B), and 6 g/L (C). The average weight of each fingerling was 20 ± 4.09 g, that was kept in a 1.5-m3 pond with a recirculation system. Feeding was performed two times a day using commercial feed with probiotic supplementation. The results showed that different stocking densities significantly affected feed conversion ratio, total biomass weight, and coefficient of variance. However, different stocking densities had no significant effect on survival rate, absolute weight growth rate, specific weight growth rate, and condition factor. The C treatment obtained the highest profit with an R/C ratio of 1.20 ± 0.03. The best production and cultivation performance of eel fingerling in a recirculation system with different stocking densities is found in treatment C (6 g/L). Keywords: Anguilla bicolor, business performance, production performance, recirculation system, stocking density ABSTRAK Budidaya ikan sidat (Anguilla bicolor) pada segmen pembesaran memerlukan benih yang baik khususnya untuk benih fingerling. Upaya peningkatan produksi benih ikan sidat dapat dilakukan dengan peningkatan padat tebar yang diiringi dengan manajemen lingkungan dan pakan yang baik. Tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis kinerja produksi dan kinerja usaha pada pemeliharaan fingerling dalam sistem resirkulasi sehingga meningkatkan kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri atas 3 perlakuan padat tebar dengan tiga ulangan, yaitu padat tebar 4 g/L (A), 5 g/L (B), dan 6 g/L (C). Fingerling ikan sidat yang digunakan berbobot awal 20 ± 4,09 g/ekor, yang dipelihara dalam bak 1,5 m3 dengan sistem resirkulasi. Pakan diberikan dua kali sehari berupa pakan buatan komersial yang diberi probiotik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa padat tebar berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter rasio konversi pakan, laju pertumbuhan mutlak biomassa, dan koefisien keragaman bobot tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup, laju pertumbuhan mutlak bobot, laju pertumbuhan spesifik bobot, dan faktor kondisi. Hasil analisis kinerja usaha budidaya fingerling dengan padat tebar berbeda menunjukkan berbeda nyata dan sebanding dengan kinerja produksi. Perlakuan C memberikan keuntungan tertinggi dengan rasio R/C sebesar 1,20 ± 0,03. Kinerja produksi dan kinerja usaha budidaya fingerling ikan sidat (Anguilla bicolor) dalam sistem resirkulasi dengan padat tebar berbeda terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan C (6 g/L). Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the growth performance and carbohydrate metabolism of Pacific whiteleg shrimp after feeding with different cinnamaldehyde concentrations and protein-energy ratios. The study used a completely randomized design with six treatments in triplicates. The treatments were S003213; treatment S053213; treatment S052814; treatment S102814; treatment S052815; and treatment S102815. The study was conducted for 56 days in a 76 L volume aquarium using shrimps with 1.38 ± 0.01 g at 200 individuals/m3. The results showed that the S053213 treatment was significantly different (P<0.05) compared to other treatments for the specific growth rate (SGR). Hexokinase (hk) and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (pepck) produced by the S053213 treatment were significantly different (P<0.05) from the S003213 treatment. The S052815 and S102815 treatments produced higher protein retention (PR) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) compared to other treatments (P<0.05) and also produced the same final average weight (FW) as the S003213 treatment. This research shows that vannamei fed by 0.10% supplementation dose of cinnamaldehyde with a decreased feed protein up to 28% and C/P ratio 14 and 15 are able to utilize feed as well as protein 32% without cinnamaldehyde. The addition of cinnamaldehyde with a higher C/P ratio requires a higher dose of cinnamaldehyde than the optimal dose. Keywords: Carbohydrate metabolism, cinnamaldehyde, growth, feed energy ratio, Pacific whiteleg shrimp ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja pertumbuhan dan metabolisme karbohidrat udang vaname Litopenaeus vannamei yang diberikan kadar sinamaldehid pada protein dan rasio energi pakan berbeda. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan enam perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Adapun perlakuan terdiri dari perlakuan kontrol S003213; perlakuan S053213; perlakuan S052814; perlakuan S102814; perlakuan S052815; dan perlakuan S102815. Penelitian dilakukan selama 56 hari pemeliharaan pada akuarium volume 76 L menggunakan udang vaname berukuran 1,38 ± 0,01 g dengan kepadatan 200 individuals/m3. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan S053213 berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya untuk parameter laju pertumbuhan spesifik (SGR). Parameter heksokinase (hk) dan phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (pepck) yang tertinggi dihasilkan oleh perlakuan S053213 dan berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dengan perlakuan S003213. Pada perlakuan S052815 dan S102815 menghasilkan retensi protein (PR) dan rasio efisiensi protein (PER) lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya (P<0,05) serta menghasilkan bobot rata-rata akhir (FW) sama dengan perlakuan S003213. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa udang vaname yang diberikan suplementasi sinamaldehid sebesar 0,10% dengan protein pakan 28% dan rasio C/P menjadi 14 dan 15 mampu pemanfaatan protein pakan yang sama dengan protein pakan 32% tanpa suplementasi sinamaldehid. Penambahan sinamaldehid dengan rasio C/P yang lebih tinggi membutuhkan dosis sinamaldehid yang lebih tinggi dari dosis optimal. Abstract

This study aimed to assess the impact of charcoal inclusion in feed on the physiological responses and growth of catfish. The experiment employed a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replicates. Charcoal doses in the feed were set at 0% (C0, control), 0.5% (C0.5), 1% (C1), 2% (C2), and 3% (C3). The catfish used weighed 3.95 ± 0.03 g and were kept in 20 hapa units (2×1×1 m³) with a stocking density of 70 fish/hapa for 60 days. The results indicated significant differences (p<0.05) in the hepatosomatic index between treatments, with the highest values recorded in C1 (2.15 ± 0.10b) and C0.5 (1.91 ± 0.19b). However, liver glycogen levels did not significantly vary across treatments (p>0.05). Charcoal supplementation enhanced blood mineral levels (calcium, phosphorus, manganese, and zinc) in the C2 and C3 groups. The highest blood glucose level was observed in C1 (p<0.05). Intestinal histological analysis showed that the highest villi height and surface area were recorded in the C2 group, with values of 540.0 ± 10.2 µm and 34.122 ± 1.311 µm², respectively. Additionally, 2% charcoal supplementation improved final weight, daily growth rate, and protein retention, while reducing feed consumption and the feed conversion ratio compared to the control. Overall, the inclusion of 2% charcoal positively influenced the intestinal histology of catfish, contributing to enhanced growth performance. The study also demonstrated that charcoal addition affected the hepatosomatic index, blood glucose, and blood mineral levels in catfish. Penelitian dirancang dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Perlakuan dosis charcoal yang yang berbeda yaitu 0 (C0, kontrol), 0.5 (C0,5), 1 (C1), 2 (C2), dan 3% (C3). Ikan lele yang digunakan berbobot 3,95 ± 0,03 g/ekor dipelihara di hapa berukuran 2×1×1 m³ sebanyak 20 unit dengan kepadatan 70 ekor/hapa selama 60 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hepatosomatik indeks beda nyata antar perlakuan (p<0,05) nilai tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan C1 2,15 ± 0,10b dan C0,5 1,91± 0,19b. Penambahan charcoal pada pakan tidak berbeda nyata terhadap glikogen hati (P>0,05). Penambahan charcoal dalam pakan dapat meningkatkan kandungan mineral darah ikan (kalsium, fosfor, mangan, dan zinc) pada perlakuan C2 dan C3. Nilai glukosa darah tertinggi pada pakan yang diberi pakan C1 (p<0,05). Hasil histologi usus menunjukkan nilai tertinggi pada tinggi vili dan luas permukaan vili usus terdapat pada perlakuan C2 (2% charcoal) dengan tinggi vili (540,0±10,2 µm) dan luas permukaan vili (34122 ± 1311 µm). Penambahan charcoal 2% pada pakan dapat meningkatkan bobot akhir, laju pertumbuhan harian, retensi protein, menurunkan konsumsi pakan dan feed convertion ratio dibandingkan kontrol. Pemberian charcoal 2% dalam pakan berpengaruh baik terhadap histologi usus ikan lele, sehingga dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan pada perlakuan C2. Pada penelitian ini juga di temukan bahwa penambahan charcoal dalam pakan berpengaruh terhadap indeks hepatosomatik, glukosa darah, serta mineral darah ikan lele.
