Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive research aims to (1) describe and explain the structure of folklore of Purbalingga District, (2) to describe and explain the social care values contained in Purbalingga District folklore, (3) describe and explain the relevance of folklore as the character buildingand teaching material in Junior High School. Data and information are collected through informants and documents. Data collection is done through observation, recording, interview, and document analysis. Research sample is determined by purposive sampling technique. Validation of data is done by triangulation. The results of this research are:(1) the structure of folklore Purbalingga District, (2) social caring values contained in Purbalingga District folklore, (3) relevance of folklore as the character building and teaching material in Junior High School.

Abstract

This type of research includes qualitative descriptive research. The selected samples are class XII IPS 5, XII IPS 1 and XII IPS 4 with purposive sampling sampling technique. Source of data used in the form of document document analysis. Technique of data collecting used with technique of free libat captive, recording technique and technique of note. Data analysis technique used in this research is interactive analysis model. The result of this research is finding the form of internal code transfer: (1) switch code from Indonesian to Javanese (2) switch code from Java to Indonesian language. The form of external codes is found: (1) switch code from Indonesian to foreign (English) (2) switch code from Indonesian to foreign (Arabic). From the research results found: 1) mix the word tangible code, 2) mix the tangible code phrase, 3) mix the tangible code clause, 4) mixed tangible code of the word. Factors that influence the use of code transfers include: 1) speakers, 2) speaking partners, 3) presence of third persons, 4) subject, 5) to arouse sense of humor, 6) to be prestigious. Critical factors include: 1) speaker and personal speaker, 2) talk partner, 3) residence and time of conversation, 4) speech mode, 5) topic, 6) function and purpose, 7) variety and level speak the language. The functions of code transfer and code interfacing include: 1) clarifying and clarifying statements, 2) quoting other people's conversations, 3) avoiding rough and smooth forms.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the obstacles to learning Indonesian online and efforts to solve them at SMAIT Nur Hidayah Sukoharjo. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique was carried out by document analysis, observation and interviews. Data analysis used in this research is data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed that the obstacles experienced by teachers and students during online learning were supervision, learning applications, learning facilities and internet networks.

Abstract

The results shows that there are structure error and Indonesian language usage error on the persuasion text written by students at grade 8 of Junior High School in Surakarta. Those errors on the incomplete structure of persuasion text especially in the reaffirmation section. The Indonesian language usage errors include spelling error, diction error, and grammatical error. The most common errors of spelling comprises capital letters and punctuation marks usage particularly full stop and comma. The most-found errors of diction comprises improper diction selection and nonstandard diction. Grammatical error is mainly caused by ineffective sentence. Those errors are caused by some factors. The factors are (1) students do not understand the structure of persuasion text, (2) students have lack of spelling and diction knowledge, (3) the lack of examples given by teacher, (4) the lack of writing practice, and (5) student lack motivation within writing.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The sampling technique is done by using purposive sampling. Data validity using triangulation method. Data analysis techniques in this study using interactive analysis techniques: (1) data reduction; (2) data presentation; (3) drawing conclusions. The results of research: (1) The use of stylistic in an ontology of short stories Dilarang Mencintai Bunga Bunga, 12 types of dominant language stylistic are found and the most dominating is hyperbole stylistic; (2) The use of imagery in ontology of short stories Dilarang Mencintai Bunga-Bunga.  it is found 4 forms of imageries and the most dominating is vision; (3) it is found 5 values of character education building in an ontology of short stories Dilarang Mencintai Bunga-Bunga namely: a) religious; b) independent; c) integrity; d) community self-help; e) nationalist; and (4) The ontology of short stories Dilarang Mencintai Bunga Bunga has the suitability criteria that can be used as teaching materials that are: a) the language is light, easy to understand; b) suitable with age, interest, and psychological development; c) suitable with the socio-cultural environment of learners; d) enhance sense of curiosity. Implementation of research results. The ontology of short stories Dilarang Mencintai Bunga Bunga as literature materials in junior high school is relevant to Core Competence and Basic Competence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study isto increase motivation and ability writetext explanation on student class XI A P 1 SMK N 1 Surakarta with apply method group investigation. This is classrrom action research which carried out in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed that through the application of methods group investigationcan increase motivation and potentiality write explanatory texts in class XI A P 1 SMK N 1 Surakarta from action practice to the first cycle and from the first cycle to the second cycle. Motivation students and in ability to write explanation text increase although not optimal yet there are still some deficiencies both from the teacher and student factors and need to be improved by the second cycle. The conclusions are: (1) implementation method group investigation enhancing motivation on student, (2) application of group investigation methods enhancing the ability to write explanatory text on students with concrete steps taken.

Abstract

There are many strategies in the use of language for specific purposes by euphemisms and it found also in the newspaper Solopos primarily on the topic of politics. The purpose of this study is to describe and explain: (1) the form of the use of euphemisms in the daily newspaper Solopos Edition April 2018, (2) the function of the use of euphemisms in the news daily newspaper Solopos Edition April 2018, (3) its relevance text learning material against anecdote at the high school. This research is qualitative research with the source data comes from the text of the news on the news in the newspaper Solopos. This research uses sampling purposive sampling and analysis techniques using a flowing or flow model of analyzing in analyzing the data. The results of this research are (1) Found 8 forms a euphemism that is, a euphemism in the form of loan words, euphemism be unfamiliar terms, a euphemism in the form of metaphor, euphemism be figurative expressions, euphemisms in the form of an acronym, abbreviation, in the form of euphemism in the form of one word for another word, and euphemisms in the form of paraphrasing; (2) the function of the use of euphemisms in the daily newspaper Solopos April 2018 is for politeness, obscure meaning, not to offend or cause conflict, reducing shame, mentioning the title of education, mentioning religious terms, and to keep secret things.

Abstract

One of the obstacles in developing reading skills in students is that they are not trained in reading activities for specific purposes. Therefore, students read by giving equal attention to all parts of the reading. Thi study aims to improve the reading ability through thue use of  mind mapping. This study was an classroom  action research and conducted  in three cycles. The participants were students class 8D and Indonesian Language  teacher of SMP Negeri 8 Surakarta. The result showed that there was an improvement in the percentace of  formulating  the mind map,   reading activity and  ability. The effective learning procedure was as follows. The students surveyed the text, identified the main idea of the text with questions word 5W + 1 H, formulated mind map,  memorized the main idea of mind map, read the text intensively that they could use their maps as a review of information gained,  stated the conclusion about ideas in the mind map, and answered the questions (take a test.  The conclusion of this study is that the main ideas identified in the pre-reading activities to be developed into a mind band, not only allows the reading activities with a specific purpose, but also helps students to focus attention on the parts of the text.

Abstract

In writing pantun ‘Indonesian rhymes’ there are certain rules which become a source of difficulty for students, such as taxation, syllable numbers, number of words, number of sentences, so that not all students are interested and motivated to do the pantun writing task. For this reason, learning should be fun and motivating each other through chain writing. This research is a classroom action research to improve motivation and writing skills of students in class VIIA SMP Negeri 1 Kebakkramat. The research action was carried out in two cycles. To analyze the data used comparative descriptive statistical analysis techniques and critical analysis. The results showed that the application of the chain writing method increased motivation and pantun writing skills. This improvement can be done with the following learning procedures: (1) the class is divided into 8 groups, each consisting of 4 students; (2) students and teachers determine the theme of pantun; (3) students and group members make pantun, (4) students make the first row of pantun; (5) the second student makes one next line and the next line is continued by other students in the group until a complete pantun is formed; (6) at the end of each line students write the initials to mark the name of the author; (7) students and their groups make revisions; (8) rhymes are then read in turn by group members; and (9) teachers and other groups assess the pantun read.

Abstract

The research population was all tenth grade Social students of Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 6 Surakarta. The research method used was qualitative method using descriptive-qualitative approach. The participants of the research were one hundred thirty (130) Social students’ works. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection techniques were content analysis and in-depth interviewing. Data analyzing used was interactive analysis model. The followings are the conclusions of the research. First, three types of language errors in students’ exposition text are sentence error, diction error, and spelling error. Second, the most detected type of error is spelling error in which the use of comma has the highest percentage. Third, the casual factors of language error were as follow: the students know less about writing principles; the students have less motivation to read; the students tend to emphasize the idea rather than writing principle; the students tend to be lazy to do editing before submitting their works; the class condition is not supportive; and the students are demanded to write structurally correct. Fourth, some efforts done to minimize language error: teachers give clarification immediately when they notice language error; cross-reading among students before submitting their works; and more writing activities in class.
