Abstract

Abstract

The  purpose  of  the study. The purpose of this study was to analyze performance characteristics associated with in-possession, out-of-possession, and transition phases during the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup 2025. As the inaugural edition of this global tournament, the study aimed to establish baseline phase-of-play performance profiles at the highest level of women’s futsal competition. Materials and methods. A descriptive quantitative research design using a notational performance analysis approach was employed. The sample consisted of 64 team performances derived from all 32 matches of the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup 2025. Performance data were obtained from official match summary reports released by the tournament organizers. Performance indicators were categorized according to phases of play, including in-possession, out-of-possession, and transition actions. Descriptive statistics, including total counts, mean values with standard deviations, and relative frequencies, were calculated using SPSS statistical software. Results. Out-of-possession actions accounted for the largest proportion of total team actions (50.8%), followed by in-possession actions (41.0%), while transition actions represented a smaller share (8.2%). In-possession performance was dominated by set plays, which accounted for 55.3% of actions within the phase, indicating a strong reliance on structured offensive situations. Out-of-possession behaviors were primarily characterized by mid-block and low-block defensive organization, reflecting an emphasis on compact defensive structures. Transition phases were mainly composed of recovery and defensive transition actions, highlighting the importance of reorganization following possession changes. Conclusions. Performance at the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup 2025 was characterized by a high volume of out-of-possession activity, structured in-possession behaviors dominated by set plays, and transition phases focused primarily on recovery and defensive reorganization. These findings provide the first phase-of-play performance benchmarks at the world championship level in women’s futsal and offer valuable reference values for coaches, performance analysts, and researchers preparing for future international competitions.

Abstract

The 50 meter freestyle is a sprint event that requires explosive strength, efficient technique, and optimal body stability. Arm muscle strength contributes directly to propulsion, while core muscle strength supports stability and force transfer. This study aimed to analyze the influence of arm and abdominal muscle strength on 50-meter freestyle swimming performance among athletes of the Science Swimming Team (SST) Sidoarjo. A quantitative correlational design was employed with a sample of 10 athletes aged 10–12 years (5 males, 5 females). Arm muscle strength was measured using the pull-up test, abdominal strength with a 30-second sit-up test, and swimming performance with the best time in a 50-meter freestyle trial. Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation and multiple linear regression with a 0.05 significance level. Results indicated a significant correlation between arm strength and swimming performance (r = 0.773; p = 0.009), while abdominal strength showed a positive but non-significant correlation (r = 0.609; p = 0.062). Regression analysis revealed that both variables together explained 57.7% of the variance in swimming speed. It is concluded that arm muscle strength has a dominant influence on freestyle sprint performance, whereas core muscles serve as supporting factors for stability and efficiency. These findings highlight the importance of integrated training programs combining arm and core strengthening to optimize sprint performance in young swimmers.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the majority of residences continue to utilise traditional keys for door access.  Keys are essential for house security; nonetheless, numerous criminals can circumvent this protection.  A viable option to avert similar tragedies is to substitute the door security system with facial recognition technology.  This security system employs CNN programming and an Arduino application.  It utilises an ESP32 to autonomously open and close the door and engage a buzzer upon detecting a potential intruder.  This research examines facial recognition technology utilised for door unlocking.  The device exhibits a success rate of 71.4%, evaluated under various situations across five trials for each object.  Further upgrades to the gadget and system developed from this research can be achieved by incorporating more features and tools for detecting low light levels in a room.  Furthermore, the system might be engineered to detect from considerable distances, such as many kilometres away.

Abstract

Research Problems: This study addresses the low speed of roundhouse kicks among Cham Petarung Sang Juara Pencak Silat athletes, a condition that can reduce attack effectiveness because slower kicks are more easily anticipated by opponents during competition. This issue is important to investigate, as kick speed is a crucial physical component that significantly influences athletic performance and competitive outcomes in pencak silat. Research Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effect of resistance band training on improving roundhouse kick speed in pencak silat athletes. Methods: A pre-experimental research design using a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The participants consisted of 10 pencak silat athletes selected through a total sampling technique. Resistance band training was used as the independent variable, while roundhouse kick speed served as the dependent variable and was measured using a 10-second kicking test. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test to examine differences in performance before and after the training intervention. Results: The results showed an increase in the mean kick speed score from 17.2 in the pretest to 21.5 in the posttest, with statistical analysis indicating a significant effect of resistance band training on kick speed improvement (p = 0.001; p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study concludes that resistance band training is effective in enhancing leg muscle strength and explosive power, which subsequently leads to increased roundhouse kick speed in pencak silat athletes. These findings contribute to the practical field of sports training by providing evidence-based support for coaches in developing more effective and varied training programs. Future research is recommended to include a control group and a larger sample size to strengthen causal conclusions and expand the generalizability of the findings.
