Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Science, Technology, and Society approach on fourth-grade students’ science process skills in the topic of Natural Resources at SDN 173110 Hutaraja. The study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 26 students selected through saturated sampling. The research instrument was an essay-based science process skills test that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data were analyzed using normality testing and the Paired Sample t-Test. The results showed that the average science process skills score increased from 48.38 in the pretest to 81.42 in the posttest. The Paired Sample t-Test yielded a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the Science, Technology, and Society approach had a significant effect on students’ science process skills. Therefore, the Science, Technology, and Society approach has a positive and significant effect on students’ science process skills.

Abstract

This qualitative case study at Pelangi Private Elementary School Medan examines the integration of inquiry learning in science, its impact on students' Science Process Skills (SPS), and its institutional factors. Utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation from the principal, fourth-grade teacher, and students, data were analyzed via the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña framework. Findings reveal that the structured inquiry stages—from problem presentation to drawing conclusions—significantly enhanced students' SPS, particularly in formulating hypotheses, controlling variables, and conducting experiments. Teacher readiness, adequate facilities, and student enthusiasm acted as key facilitators. Conversely, limited prior knowledge, restricted instructional time, and low learning independence emerged as primary barriers. Ultimately, this study demonstrates that inquiry learning effectively develops students' SPS, provided that continuous teacher scaffolding is maintained.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of online game addiction on the reading ability of fifth-grade students at SDN 101779 Percut. The research used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample consisted of 36 students from classes V-A and V-B. Data were collected through an online game addiction questionnaire and a reading ability observation test. The instruments were tested for validity and reliability, and the data were analyzed using normality test, linearity test, simple linear regression, Product Moment correlation, coefficient of determination, and hypothesis testing with IBM SPSS Statistics 32. The results showed that students’ online game addiction tended to be high, with 20 students or 55.55% classified in the high and very high categories. Meanwhile, students’ reading ability tended to be low, with 15 students or 41.66% classified in the low and very low categories. The regression equation was Y = 97.989 - 0.638X with a significance value of < 0.001. The correlation coefficient was r = -0.846, indicating a very strong negative relationship. The coefficient of determination was 0.716, meaning that online game addiction contributed 71.6% to students’ reading ability. Therefore, online game addiction has a negative and significant effect on students’ reading ability. Abstract

This study aimed to develop an interactive learning media called Adventure in Lake Toba Boardgame (Altobo) that is valid, practical, and effective for teaching the IPAS topic Harmony in Ecosystems, which is adapted to the ecosystem of Lake Toba, for fifth-grade students at SDN 060874 Medan Perjuangan. This study employed a Research ang Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The data collection techniques included questionnaires, observations, documentation, and interviews. The subjects of this study were 20 students of class V-A at SDN 060874 Medan Perjuangan. The results showed that the Altobo learning media obtained a material expert validation score of 88% and a media expert validation score of 95%, both categorized as highly valid. The practicality test yielded a score of 88%, indicating that the media was highly practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test resulted in a percentage of 84,38%, categorized as highly effective, based on observations of students’ engagement during the learning process. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that this research and development study successfully produced the Adventure in Lake Toba Boardgame (Altobo), an interactive learning media that is valid, practical, and effective for use in elementary school IPAS learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Assemblr Edu media based on Augmented Reality on students' learning outcomes in the IPAS learning, specifically on the topic of states of matter and their changes, in grade IV at SD Negeri 104205 Tembung. This study employed a quantitative approach using a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class that received instruction using Assemblr Edu media based on Augmented Reality and a control class that received instruction using YouTube video media. Data were collected through learning outcome tests in the form of pretests and posttests. The data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing through the t-test. This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in IPAS learning, indicating the need for instructional media that can help students understand concepts more concretely and attractively. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 80, while the average posttest score of the control class was 67,78. The hypothesis testing revealed that the calculated t-value was 3,8643 and the t-table value was 2,0322 at a significance level of 0,05. Since t-count was greater than t-table, Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that Assemblr Edu media based on Augmented Reality had a significant effect on students' learning outcomes in IPAS learning on the topic of states of matter and their changes in grade IV at SD Negeri 104205 Tembung.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the jarimatika demonstration method on the arithmetic abilities of students in class III C UPT SPF SD Negeri 106163 Bandar Klippa. The background of this research is the low arithmetic ability of students in basic operations, namely addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students still experience difficulties in solving problems because they tend to use a one-by-one counting method, which often leads to calculation errors. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with the Pre-Experimental Design method and the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The number of research subjects was 27 students from class III C UPT SPF SD Negeri 106163 Bandar Klippa. The data collection method used arithmetic skills tests and learning observations. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS program with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, including normality tests and Paired Sample t-tests. The results of this study indicate that the finger counting-based demonstration method has a significant impact on students' counting abilities. This is evidenced by the increase in the average student score from 47.19 on the pretest to 81.04 on the posttest. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), thus H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. In addition, the standard deviation decreased from 24.61 to 9.42, indicating that the students' abilities became more uniform after the treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the finger arithmetic-based demonstration method on the counting ability of elementary school students
