Abstract

This study examines the dimension of syifa' (healing) in the Quran and its relevance to the properties of Guraka as a traditional beverage of North Maluku. The Quran mentions the concept of syifa' in six verses, which scholars understand as holistic healing encompassing spiritual, psychological, and physical dimensions. This qualitative research employs the tafsir maudhui (thematic exegesis) method combined with an ethnographic approach, with primary data sources consisting of classical commentaries (al-Thabari, Ibn Katsir, al-Qurthubi, al-Razi) and contemporary ones (Sayyid Quthb, Hamka, M. Quraish Shihab, Wahbah al-Zuhaili), as well as field data from North Maluku. The findings reveal: (1) the concept of syifa' in the Quran is holistic and integrative in nature; (2) Guraka has a strong pharmacological basis, with bioactive compounds proven to possess analgesic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects; (3) there exists a theological coherence between Quranic syifa' and the Guraka tradition, which integrates al-dawa' (herbal medicine), al-du'a' (prayer), and al-tawakkul (complete reliance upon Allah). This study proposes the paradigm of "Syifa' Rooted in Local Wisdom" as an academic contribution to the development of Islamic-Nusantara health theology.

Abstract

Abstract

This journal covers significant debates on the topic of human activities (af'al ai-'ibad). The study examines human strength (istitha'ah) and will (masyi'ah). This is so because every deed is motivated by power and will. The issue is whether or not humans are free to choose their actions based on their own will and strength, or if all human choices are predetermined by God's qadha and qadhar. The Qadariyah understanding, Jabariyah understanding, and Asy'ariah understanding were then born out of this difficulty. Islam's development of the Qadariyah thinking was impacted by the free understanding that emerged among Christians. According to Jabaryah, Allah swt has predetermined every event that people have, both past and present, including bad luck and calamity. People lack free will and free choice, like water flowing in many ways. Just Allah (swt). In accordance with Asy'ariah, since God is free and without restrictions and has the nature of jaiz, humans do not possess freedom

Abstract

Qath'i and zhanni in Usul fiqh are used to explain the source texts of Islamic law, be it al-Qur'an and hadith in two respects, namely al-tsubut (existence) or al-wurud (the arrival of the source truth) and al-dalalah (interpretation). In the context of qath'i and zhanny al-wurud, the scholars agree that the Qur'an and the mutawatir hadith are qath'i. However, they differ in terms of qath'i and zhanny from the side of al-dalalah. Ushul fiqh scholars state that if a religious text contains only one clear meaning and cannot open up the possibility of other interpretations, and mentions certain numbers, then the text is considered a qath'i text from the side of al-dalalah. Meanwhile, contemporary scholars argue that the concept of qath'i and zhanni al- dalalah, both the Qur'an and Hadith, cannot be seen from the clarity of the meaning of the pronunciation but also the desired essence of the pronunciation. Intellect is a thinking tool contained in humans, human reason is different from other creatures because reason is only given to humans and is not given to other creatures. This difference makes humans superior and smarter in managing their lives. Therefore, humans with clear intelligence will find God as the end result of real life

Abstract

This study discusses the understanding of salafi religion in the community which always creates noise in the community. This research is included in the literature review with the stages of analysis in the form of data reduction, data exposure, and conclusions/verification. The results show that the Salafi understanding tends to be textual in understanding the Qur'an and Hadith, from this habit it has an impact on an understanding that traditions that live in a good society, which have never existed in the Qur'an and Hadith are always considered as a wrong understanding (bid'ah and shirk), even contrary to the teachings of Islam. One solution that must be done so that salafi understanding does not develop by paying special attention to the ustadz concerned to stop understanding that does not lead to noise, for example by giving priority to religious instructors from the Ministry of Religion to conduct a data collection program for clerics who tend to make noise and provide understanding. considered good for the sake of maintaining peace and religious tolerance

Abstract

Radicalism is a problem that is difficult to solve that will never go away, in fact it may even grow if the government and all of us cannot find the root of the problem and try to find a solution, at least to reduce movements that will actually further damage the order of religious life and the state due to a handful of people. people who have an understanding of radicalism and spread that understanding to the community around them. Radicalism arises as a result of horizontal conflicts that have arisen since the time of the companions, which are more politically nuanced and the unequal understanding of the determination of the position of the caliphate which we know as arbitration. As a developing country, Indonesia must also be aware of this notion of radicalism, especially for children who we call millennials who are still unstable and easily influenced by something new that they may consider to be in accordance with their mindset

Abstract

This research investigates the development and transformation of the meanings of three central concepts in contemporary Islamic political discourse—Syūrā, ‘Adālah, and Khilāfah—which have experienced various forms of semantic change, reinterpretation, and expansion. The core problem addressed lies in the tension and overlap between their classical, normative definitions and the new meanings that have emerged as a consequence of modern socio-political dynamics. This overlap has contributed to the instrumentalization of these terms within political arenas, where they are mobilized to legitimize differing ideological positions. The study seeks to describe the processes through which these shifts in meaning occur, to identify the discursive strategies that generate renewed interpretations, and to analyze the semantic interconnections among the three concepts within the framework of modern Islamic political thought. Adopting a qualitative methodology, the research employs semantic and discourse analysis to examine both classical textual sources and contemporary writings. Data were obtained through an extensive review of Arabic linguistic scholarship, works on Islamic political theory, and modern discursive documents relevant to the topic. The findings indicate that Syūrā has evolved toward a broader and more contemporary notion of political participation; ‘Adālah has moved from being primarily an individual ethical virtue to functioning as a principle of institutional social justice; whereas Khilāfah has become increasingly politicized and fragmented in its interpretations across different ideological currents. Collectively, these three concepts form an interrelated semantic network that plays a crucial role in shaping the architecture of contemporary Islamic political discourse. The study concludes that transformations in meaning are deeply influenced by theological reinterpretations and shifting socio-political demands, thereby demonstrating the significance of semantic analysis as an analytical lens for understanding the evolution of modern Islamic political thought.

Abstract

The study of Arabic language and literature during the medieval period offers a deep understanding of the intellectual and cultural dynamics of Arabic that formed the foundation of the development of modern Arabic language and literature. This study aims to analyze aspects of medieval language and literature by covering political conditions and their influence on literary production, the development of historiographic works, the emergence of the encyclopedia genre, the biographical tradition (tarājim), the role of language scholars, and the phenomenon of the decline of classical literature. The method used is a library study with a historical-descriptive approach and comparative textual analysis. The results of the study show that the fragmented political conditions in the medieval period gave rise to a diverse intellectual environment, which triggered the growth of historiography, encyclopedism, and biographical writing as an effort to document and legitimize intellectually. The role of language scholars in the process of codifying nahwu, lexicography, and balaghah helped strengthen the standard of Arabic language that has survived into the modern era. On the other hand, the tendency of decline in classical literature, especially in poetic creativity, actually opened up space for the birth of modern literary innovation in the 19th and 20th centuries. Overall, these findings confirm that the legacy of medieval Arabic language and literature has significant implications for the formation of the linguistic and aesthetic identity of modern Arabic literature, both as an inherited model and as a starting point for contemporary literary renewal.

Abstract

This study examines the existence of Arabic vocabulary in the teachings of the Naqsyabandiyah Order in Lombok as part of the dynamics of the transmission of Islamic religious traditions in the local context of the Indonesian archipelago. The focus of the study is directed at the Arabic lexical forms used in the terminology of the teachings, rituals, and practices of the Naqsyabandiyah Order and their adaptation process in the language of the Sasak people. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a linguistic-sociological approach, through observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of the order's teaching documents. The research findings show that many key terms in the Naqsyabandiyah, such as dhikr khafi, talqin, suluk, and mursyid, have undergone a layered process of re-interpretation between Arabic etymological meanings and contextual meanings of Lombok culture. This adaptation does not eliminate the Arabic identity of the vocabulary, but rather strengthens the order's spiritual legitimacy and becomes the religious identity of its community of adherents. Thus, the existence of Arabic vocabulary in Naqsyabandiyah in Lombok is not only linguistic, but also symbolic and cultural, which also influences local religious patterns and the construction of spiritual authority.
