Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach on students' conceptual understanding and mathematical representation skills, especially in the context of fractions. This study was conducted at SD Negeri 26 Bantan, where students often show negative perceptions of mathematics, which causes difficulties in understanding and representing mathematical concepts. The PMRI approach, adapted from the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model developed in the Netherlands, emphasizes the use of real-world contexts and guided discovery to facilitate mathematical understanding. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a control group to compare the effectiveness of the PMRI approach with traditional teaching methods. The results showed that the PMRI approach significantly improved students' conceptual understanding and ability to represent mathematical ideas in various forms compared to conventional methods. These findings suggest that PMRI can be an effective strategy to improve mathematics learning outcomes, especially in the area of fractions. This study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of realistic contexts in mathematics education to promote deeper understanding and student engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of technology-assisted speaking practice on English pronunciation and speaking skills at SMPN 2 Bantan. The method used in this study is an experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were grade VIII students at SMPN 2 Bantan, with samples taken randomly. The instruments used in this study included a speaking skills test and a pronunciation skills test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of technology-assisted speaking practice on improving students' English pronunciation and speaking skills. Students who participated in technology-assisted speaking practice showed higher improvements compared to students who did not participate in the practice. In addition, technology-assisted speaking practice also increased students' confidence in communicating using English. This study provides implications that the use of technology in English learning can be an effective strategy to improve students' language skills. It is recommended that teachers use technology more in the learning process to create a more interactive and interesting learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the cooperative learning model type Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) on the learning motivation and mathematical reasoning ability of fifth-grade students at SDN 10 Rupat. The method used in this research is an experimental method with a pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 17 fifth-grade students. During the study, the STAD learning model was implemented, and data were collected through pretests and posttests to measure students' learning motivation and mathematical reasoning ability. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' learning motivation, with an average pretest score of 67.24 and a posttest score of 80.06. Students' mathematical reasoning ability also significantly improved, from an average pretest score of 59.88 to a posttest score of 73.71. The hypothesis testing, which included the Paired T-Test, yielded significant results (p < 0.05), indicating that the STAD learning model is effective in enhancing students' learning motivation and mathematical reasoning ability. Thus, the STAD learning model can be considered an effective method for teaching mathematics at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of basic literacy on the reading interest and ability of elementary school students in Rangsang District. The research method used was an experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of fourth-grade students from SD Negeri 19 Repan and SDN 18 Penyagun, Rangsang District. The instruments used in this research were a reading interest questionnaire and a reading ability test. The data obtained were analyzed using simple linear regression tests. The results of the study indicated that basic literacy had a significant influence on students' reading interest and ability. The correlation coefficients of 0,414 for reading interest and 0,390 for reading ability showed a fairly strong relationship between basic literacy and student learning outcomes. The R Square values of 0,171 and 0,152 respectively indicated that about 17.1% and 15.2% of the variation in reading interest and ability could be explained by basic literacy. This study provides strong empirical evidence of the effectiveness of basic literacy in enhancing the reading interest and ability of elementary school students in Rangsang District. These findings have important implications for educational policy and practice, particularly in regions facing literacy challenges. Integrating intensive and systematic basic literacy programs into the elementary school curriculum can be an effective strategy to improve students' literacy skills, which in turn will support their overall academic success.
