Abstract

Stunting has become a global health phenomenon that occurs in several countries around the world. The problem of stunted linear growth during the first 1,000 days of an infant's life has garnered much attention. Many studies have been conducted to eliminate the high prevalence of stunting. The government has decided to overcome this infant health problem by appointing several target. The National Strategy Plans to Accelerate Stunting Prevention have been carried out by prioritising the interventions of sensitive nutrition. Some interventions are being worked on including behaviour change. This intervention is in line with the 5 pillars of stunting prevention: the national campaign and change of behaviour. The behaviour change will be carried out deeply to discover some reasons that motivate the change of behaviour, clean water and latrines sanitation, exclusive breastfeeding, food parenting, health workers, posyandu cadres and stake holders. Behaviour change in a community will encounter many obstacles due to economic, traditional and sociocultural differences. This implicity means that the role of posyandu cadres among the communities is needed. Improving the function and activeness of posyandu cadres is an urgent step that must be taken immediately. Because no matter how many health workers are deployed in the field, they will not be able to get rid of the role of posyandu cadres who daily deal directly with the community and live in it and understand the sociocultural ins and outs of the community in their area of responsibility. Posyandu cadres are also part of an activity that includes many things that affect their performance and activity. The following article is a systematic review to look for behaviour change efforts that should be carried out immediately in the prevention of stunting.

Abstract

Pulmonary disorders in 2018 entered the 5th rank as a disease that causes death. Dust and gas are air pollutants that have a high level of toxicity in the environment when entering and accumulating in human respiratory organs for a long time can cause lung function disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors for impaired function in workers in Indonesia. This study used the literature review method with Google Scholar, PubMed, and BioMed Central databases. Search for articles according to topics published from 2017 to 2022 with a working population and research locations in Indonesia. The results of the study obtained a total of 4648 articles, after screening 30 articles were obtained for analysis. From the research it was found that dust exposure and gas exposure were the types of pollutants that caused lung function disorders. The factors that can be modified are setting the length of exposure so that it can affect the working period per year, nutritional status, exercise, smoking habits and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Age and gender variables are risk factors that cannot be modified. The longer a person works, the greater the potential hazards that accumulate into the body, especially workers who are in a dusty environment. Therefore, efforts are needed to manage exposure to air pollution in the work environment and routinely conduct medical check-ups for workers, exercise regularly, use PPE, eliminate smoking habits to minimize the occurrence of lung function disorders.

Abstract

Water is a basic need that must be fulfilled in everyday human life so that the quality of clean water must be used as a need for bathing, drinking, cooking, and so on. Apart from that, we want to reveal things that can contaminate this basic human need by conducting a literature review. The purpose of this literature analysis is to find out how many residents in this research area still dispose of household waste in an inappropriate manner or inaccurately in the placement of liquid and solid waste materials which will later have an impact on the surrounding environment. The research was conducted using a literature review. Construction of wells must comply with safe and good characteristics so that the quality of well water does not threaten human health. The standard distance of the well from the source of pollution that is generally used is 10 meters.

Abstract

COVID-19 remains the focus of public health, both global and national. The continuous increase in COVID-19 cases indicates the need for efforts to improve health protocols in the community. This community service was held in September 2021 at the Al-Fatih Orphanage in Palembang, with 17 orphanage children as the target population. This community service activity uses the counseling method. Pre and post-tests were used to measure knowledge before and after counseling about coronavirus disease and its transmission. Based on the paired t-test analysis, the p-value=0.0001 (<0.05), so it can be concluded that there was a significant difference in knowledge before and after educating the public about efforts to prevent COVID-19.

Abstract

Sungai Medang Landfill in Prabumulih City manages waste through the sanitary landfill method, though not optimally. Waste undergoes anaerobic decay by microorganisms, producing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas. Low concentrations of H2S can irritate the eyes, nose, or throat. This study aimed to analyze the environmental health risks of H2S exposure to communities around the Medang Prabumulih River landfill. The Environmental Health Risk Analysis (EHRA) method with a deterministic approach was used. The study sampled 92 people living within a radius of 250 meters and ±500 meters, using purposive sampling techniques. Results showed the highest concentration of H2S at 0.0015 μg/m3 and the lowest at 0.0001 μg/m3. The average intake value (real time) was 0.00053 μg/m3, with a risk level of 0.267 RQ (<1). These results indicate that the current risk level due to H2S exposure is safe and does not pose non-carcinogenic health risks. However, future increases in H2S concentrations may occur due to the rising amount of waste from increased population and urbanization. It is recommended to install air purifiers in homes and plant barrier plants like Liriope spicata (lilyturf/monkey grass) around residences to reduce odors from the landfill.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health (OSH) are an important health issue that requires attention, both from the government and business owners to their workers. One of the main causes of work accidents is the low awareness of the importance of implementing OHS in the workplace. SMK3 must be implemented for companies, especially companies that have a high risk of work accidents and have a workforce of more than 100 people. The method in this study uses a systematic review method of previous research results. The results showed that the Occupational Health Safety Management System (SMK3) is an important role in overcoming inhibiting factors and part of the management of a company that focuses on protecting occupational safety and health (K3) for workers. With the aim of increasing the effectiveness of OHS protection, preventing and minimizing the incidence of work accidents and occupational diseases, and creating a safe, comfortable and efficient workplace. However, in this case there are several factors that hinder the implementation of SMK3, including financing, weak law enforcement, lack of awareness from workers, and lack of education about occupational safety and health in the form of counseling, training or providing information in the form of pocket books or posters.
