Abstract

This study examines the health impacts of NO₂ exposure at Ogan Ilir Regency gas stations on lung function in workers and traders. There are two methods used, namely, the Environmental Health Risk Analysis (ARKL) study method with a deterministic approach system, and the Environmental Health Epidemiology (EKL) method with a Cross-Sectional approach system. The analysis of the non-carcinogenic intake rate due to NO₂ exposure showed a value of 0.004 mg/kg/day, and the Risk Quotient (RQ) risk level showed a NO₂ exposure value of 0.12. Statistical tests showed Body Mass Index (BMI), long-term relationships, frequency, duration of exposure, smoking habits, medical history, and history of allergies with a p-value> 0.05. The conclusion of this study shows that there is no significant relationship with impaired lung function. Abstract

One of the factors influencing the incidence of low birth weight (LBW) is exposure to air pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide (NO₂). Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between NO₂ air pollution exposure and the incidence of LBW in Palembang City. This research uses an ecological study design with secondary data obtained from the Palembang City Health Office, the Palembang City Environmental Office, and the Regional Development Planning and Research Agency (Bappeda Litbang) of Palembang. Data analysis was conducted using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The study focused on seven subdistricts as sampling locations based on air monitoring points established by the Environmental Office. The results of the study show that the highest number of LBW cases was found in Ilir Timur I Subdistrict, with 58 cases in 2022. Meanwhile, the highest NO₂ concentration was recorded in Plaju Subdistrict, reaching 266 µ/NM³/hour in 2020. Overlay analysis indicated no significant relationship between NO₂ concentration and LBW incidence in most areas, except in Plaju Subdistrict during 2020-2021, where both NO₂ concentrations and the number of LBW cases were relatively higher compared to other subdistricts.

(Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 762–767).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Flies are insects that can recognize colors due to their phototropic nature, making them sensitive to specific wavelengths of light. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of various shades of purple on fly attraction. This research employed a quantitative experimental design with a post-test-only control group approach. The results indicated findings revealed a statistically significant difference between the light magenta and dark purple fly grill variations (p-value = 0.018; MD = 12.27500). The highest average fly density was found on the light magenta fly grill with 30.75 flies/block, followed by the light purple with 25 flies/block, and the lowest on the dark purple with 18.1 flies/block; meanwhile, the unpainted (wood) fly grill showed a density of 23 flies/block. The Specifically, light magenta purple attracted the highest number of flies, indicating its effectiveness as a trap color. Based on the research results, utilizing light magenta purple fly grills could enhance fly trapping efficiency. It is recommended that the use of light magenta fly grills be prioritized in fly control strategies in areas prone to infestation, such as landfills.

Abstract

Berdasarkan laporan WHO tahun 2019, tercatat 232 juta kasus malaria dan 409.000 kematian.

Abstract

In the community environment, there are many insects that need to be controlled even though they cannot be completely controlled, one of which is flies. Poor sanitation conditionscan affect the presence of disease causing flies. Fly control can be done by physial-mechanical methods such as flytraps and baits to attract flies. The research method used is True Experiment with a post test only control group design design. In this study, 8 fly traps were used and were yellow in color. The baits used in this study were plantain, papaya and sweet fragrant mango. Placement of fly traps in this study at garbage dump (Tempat Pembuangan Sampah/TPS) and wet stall (Los Basah). The results showed that there was a significant difference in the number of flies with variations in bait trapped in the fly trap (p-value > 0.05). Banana bait was able to catch an average of 29 flies, papaya bait with an average of 18, and 12 mango baits. It can be concluded that banana fruit bait is the bait that catches the most flies compared to the other 2 baits and the bait that catches the least flies is flytrap without bait. Keyword : Flytrap, Flies, Fruit bait

Abstract

ABSTRACT Adolescent girls are vulnerable to experiencing anemia due to low hemoglobin levels. The increase in cases globally demands appropriate prevention efforts, one of which is adherence to iron supplement tablet (TTD) consumption. This study aims to identify the factors influencing TTD consumption behavior among adolescent girls. The method used is a narrative review of 20 scientific articles published from 2019 to 2024 from the Google Scholar and PubMed databases, focusing on risk factors and behavioral determinants. The analysis results show that knowledge, attitudes, peer support, parental involvement, teachers, and health workers are the main factors influencing TTD consumption behavior. These findings can be used as a basis for formulating educational strategies and nutritional interventions to reduce the prevalence of anemia among adolescents. Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive in toddlers (babies under the age of five) due to chronic malnutrition, causing children to have a shorter height than they should for their age. Banyuasin Regency has the third highest prevalence of stunting in South Sumatra Province (13.3% in 2022). The Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) is designed to improve the nutritional status of under-fives, and posyandu cadres play an important role in its successful implementation. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the active role of posyandu cadres in providing supplementary food in Banyuasin Regency.Method: Quantitative research with a cross-sectional design using 100 samples with the Proportional random sampling method which was carried out in early October - early November 2024 in Banyuasin Regency.Result: The results of the chi square test showed that knowledge (p = 0.001), attitude (p = 0.025), age (p = 0.039), education (p = 0.524), incentives (p = 0.269), training (p = 0.019), length of time as a cadre (p = 0.045) facilities and infrastructure (p = 0.090) and active cadres as many as 59 posyandu cadres. This study indicates that the better the cadres’ knowledge, attitudes, and experience, and the more frequently they attend training, the more likely they are to play an active role in implementing the PMT program. In contrast, educational background, the provision of incentives, and the availability of facilities do not necessarily influence the cadres’ active involvement in the delivery of the PMT program. Efforts to increase the training of posyandu cadres are the main recommendations to support the success of the PMT program in stunting prevention in Banyuasin district.

Abstract

ABSTRACTTitle: Spatial Analysis of Malaria Transmission Dynamics  in the Highland Areas of Muara Enim RegencyBackground: Malaria remains one of the world's major health problems due to its potential vectors, with a total of 241 million cases in 2020 spread across 85 malaria-endemic countries, each with varying transmission dynamics. Muara Enim Regency was declared malaria-free in 2024, but research is still needed to analyze the spatial dynamics of malaria transmission in the regency to ensure the malaria-free status is maintained. Methods: This study used a survey method designed based on a geographic information system (GIS) and employed secondary data. The secondary data consisted of malaria cases from 2021–2023 in two subdistricts: Lawang Kidul and Tanjung Agung. Data were obtained from the Muara Enim Health Office, Tanjung Enim Community Health Center (Lawang Kidul Subdistrict), and Tanjung Agung Community Health Center. Results: Spatial analysis provided data on the distribution of malaria cases, mining areas, swamp areas, plantation areas, river flow areas, and vegetation (bushland). Based on this spatial analysis, areas with a concentration of malaria cases tend to be near swamps and rivers. This indicates a relationship between specific geographical conditions (wet and water-rich areas) and increased malaria cases, as these locations serve as potential habitats for malaria vector mosquitoes. Most of the area comprises plantations, followed by rice fields, swamps, and bushland. These vegetative areas can serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. From univariate spatial analysis, it was observed that regions with high case numbers are generally in lowland areas or areas with access to water sources like rivers and swamps. Conclusion: The primary dynamics of malaria cases in Muara Enim Regency are influenced by its status as a highland area. The study concluded that swamps and rivers pose risk factors for malaria transmission dynamics, highlighting the need for government anticipation to maintain the malaria elimination status.

Abstract

Stunting in children under five is a crucial public health issue in developing countries, including Indonesia. Poor environmental sanitation has been identified as a significant factor influencing the incidence of stunting. This study aims to review the latest literature linking environmental sanitation conditions with the prevalence of stunting. The method used in this research is a literature review, utilizing several research articles from the past five years obtained from various scientific journal sources. The type of study is an observational analytic survey with a case-control design. The research was conducted by comparing two groups: cases and controls. Based on the literature review, poor environmental sanitation, particularly access to clean water and adequate sanitation facilities, has a significant relationship with the high prevalence of stunting in children across various countries. Providing clean water, proper sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs have been proven to reduce stunting rates. Improving access to environmental sanitation and hygiene is a critical step in reducing the prevalence of stunting. Sanitation interventions should be a priority in public health programs in developing countries.
