Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is an infectious disease that is a health problem in the world. In Indonesia, most cases of tuberculosis attack the productive age. Cases of pulmonary tuberculosis in Rantau Alai District in 2022 amounted to 380 cases, with the number of positive cases as many as 29 cases resulting in disability in the lungs and extrapulmonary organs and even death. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between knowledge and behavior of the host with the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis at productive age in Rantau Alai Subdistrict, Ogan Ilir Regency. This study used a case-control design with 108 respondents selected by simple random sampling. Then, the data analysis test was carried out, namely the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge (p-value<0.001), smoking history (p-value>0.001), household contact (p-value<0.001), the habit of drying mattresses (p-value<0.001) and the habit of opening windows every morning (p-value<0.001) against pulmonary tuberculosis. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the variable of house contact (p-value 0.001) was the most dominant variable associated with pulmonary tuberculosis (OR= 15.059, 95% CI: 3.093-73.317). The conclusion of this study is that poor knowledge and behavior of the host can increase the risk of pulmonary tuberculosis. Suggestions for the community are expected to follow extension activities on an ongoing basis and implement clean and healthy living behaviors to prevent the proliferation of pulmonary tuberculosis bacteria.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The government established a goal of a prevalence rate of 14% by the end of 2024 because the number of stunting cases in Indonesia is still high, at 21.6%. This review aims to provide the factors such as personal hygiene, maternal health status, and diarrhea that cause stunting and recommendations for more effective health policies to prevent stunting in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to examine the connection between personal hygiene, maternal health status, and a history of diarrhea with the occurrence of stunting in Indonesia.. Method: This study uses a systematic review method on observational studies with a case control and cross-sectional research design conducted in Indonesia published between 2019 and 2024. Databases such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar are used to search for eligible articles. The quality of the publication was then assessed using The JBI (Joanna Briggs Institute) Critical Appraisal Tools. Result: A total of 210 articles were taken from the database, and 17 research articles were included in this study. In the article studied, the factors that are most often associated with stunting are personal hygiene practices (behavior of washing hands with soap), maternal weight, maternal height, and infectious diseases such as diarrhea related to stunting. Conclusion: A study of 17 articles showed that personal hygiene, maternal health status during pregnancy, and history of diarrhea contributed significantly to the incidence of stunting in Indonesia. Poor personal hygiene and diarrheal infections can worsen children's nutritional status, increase the risk of infection, and inhibit optimal growth and development. These factors are an important component in efforts to prevent stunting through improving hygiene, maternal health, and infection management.

Abstract

One of the factors influencing the incidence of low birth weight (LBW) is exposure to air pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide (NO₂). Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between NO₂ air pollution exposure and the incidence of LBW in Palembang City. This research uses an ecological study design with secondary data obtained from the Palembang City Health Office, the Palembang City Environmental Office, and the Regional Development Planning and Research Agency (Bappeda Litbang) of Palembang. Data analysis was conducted using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The study focused on seven subdistricts as sampling locations based on air monitoring points established by the Environmental Office. The results of the study show that the highest number of LBW cases was found in Ilir Timur I Subdistrict, with 58 cases in 2022. Meanwhile, the highest NO₂ concentration was recorded in Plaju Subdistrict, reaching 266 µ/NM³/hour in 2020. Overlay analysis indicated no significant relationship between NO₂ concentration and LBW incidence in most areas, except in Plaju Subdistrict during 2020-2021, where both NO₂ concentrations and the number of LBW cases were relatively higher compared to other subdistricts.

Sari, I. R., Sunarsih, E., Minarti, M., & Armawan, L.V. (2024). Identification of the effect of purple color variations on fly grill on fly vector density. In: Herlinda S et al. (Eds.), Prosiding Seminar Nasional Lahan Suboptimal ke-12 Tahun 2024, Palembang 21 Oktober 2024. (pp. 762–767).  Palembang: Penerbit & Percetakan Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).Flies are insects that can recognize colors due to their phototropic nature, making them sensitive to specific wavelengths of light. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of various shades of purple on fly attraction. This research employed a quantitative experimental design with a post-test-only control group approach. The results indicated findings revealed a statistically significant difference between the light magenta and dark purple fly grill variations (p-value = 0.018; MD = 12.27500). The highest average fly density was found on the light magenta fly grill with 30.75 flies/block, followed by the light purple with 25 flies/block, and the lowest on the dark purple with 18.1 flies/block; meanwhile, the unpainted (wood) fly grill showed a density of 23 flies/block. The Specifically, light magenta purple attracted the highest number of flies, indicating its effectiveness as a trap color. Based on the research results, utilizing light magenta purple fly grills could enhance fly trapping efficiency. It is recommended that the use of light magenta fly grills be prioritized in fly control strategies in areas prone to infestation, such as landfills.
