Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the knowledge, attitudes, and compliance with antiretroviral (ARV) antidotes among HIV patients at the Central Bangka Regional General Hospital. Research Methodology: This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The technique for selecting respondents was a non-probability sampling technique, purposive sampling. Nine informants participated in 9 people. Data were collected using an in-depth interview guide. Results: Findings from the research show that several informants had insufficient knowledge about compliance in taking ARV antidotes. Even though the informants' attitude towards compliance with antiretroviral (ARV) antiretrovirals was relatively good, several key informants stated that they had stopped taking antiretroviral (ARV) antidotes for several months because they felt healthy. However, several months later, they experienced adverse effects that resulted in declining health. Conclusions: The study concludes that Inadequate knowledge and misconceptions about ARV therapy remain significant obstacles to sustained adherence. Strengthening education, family involvement, and consistent supervision are essential for enhancing compliance and improving health outcomes for people living with HIV. Limitations: The study was limited to a small number of participants from a single hospital, which restricts broader generalization. Contribution: This research provides practical insights for healthcare providers and policymakers to design targeted interventions, improve supervision, and foster cross-program collaboration to ensure consistent ARV adherence among patients with HIV, ultimately supporting public health goals in HIV management.

Abstract

Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), Particulate Matter (PM10) and TSP are the most common and harmful air pollutants to humans. In short period, air pollution exposure at 5 ppm for 10 minutes to humans causes dyspnea, and when the level is increase to 800 ppm could cause 100% mortality in animals. This study was an analytical research, with cross sectional design and risk analysis. One hundred subjects were analyzed in this study. The results showed that non-cancer Hazard Index (HI) for realtime exposure with mean value was NO2: 1.85; SO2: 2.92; TSP: 7.09; and PM10: 11.7 (HI value ≥1). The results of the analysis test for FVC lung capacity to non-cancer risk estimation of NO2, SO2, TSP and PM10 indicated that there was no significant relationship (p > 0,05). Variable of smoking habit is the most dominant variable (OR = 12,542) which affect respiratory disorders. The exposure of NO2, SO2, TSP and PM10 in Palembang City bus drivers is considered risky to non-cancer health subjects, so control is needed. This control could be performed by lowering the level of inhalation intake (I) of the RfC and the first simulation model for exposure could start from the second year to the sixth year.

Abstract

Abstract

Air pollution is a serious problem globally, especially in urban areas where the transportation sector is one of the main contributors to sulfur dioxide (SO₂) emissions. Public filling stations (SPBU) that are centers of vehicle activity can produce SO₂ in ambient air that endangers lung function for individuals exposed in the long term, including workers and the surrounding community. This study examines SO₂ exposure at gas stations in Ogan Ilir Regency that can have an impact on health. The research method used two research methods, namely environmental health risk analysis (EHRA) with a deterministic approach and environmental health epidemiology with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was conducted on 78 respondents using the Total Sampling method and air measurements using the Impinger Air Sampler tool. The average SO₂ concentration in the three gas station locations was 30,0 µg/m³ which exceeds the safe threshold. The daily intake level was 0,003 mg/kg/day, higher than the safe reference concentration (RfC) of 0.025 mg/kg/day, with a Risk Quotient (RQ) of 0,12, does not present a significant health risk. Furthermore, the results showed that impaired lung function was found in 73 respondents (93.6%), additional risk factors such as smoking habits and medical history were found to affect respiratory health. This research shows that there is no significant relationship between body weight, exposure, smoking, history of disease, or allergies and impaired lung function of officers and the community around the Ogan Ilir gas station.

Abstract

TPA Sukawinatan is one of the final disposal sites that is still operating actively in Palembang City. Garbage is often a risk for a city to become a megalopolis. With a large population and high growth rate, the amount of waste is increasing. Many cities in Indonesia have built Final Processing Sites (TPA) without regard to TPA production standards and without regard to Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL). The purpose of this study to identify the waste management system and community participation in Sukajaya Village, Sukarami District. Using cross-sectional, descriptive, observational research methods. With the population of abiotic components and samples of the surrounding community. Garbage produced by the Sukawinatan community is disposed of in a landfill, causing a pungent odor throughout the day. Environmental pollution due to waste has recently increased rapidly. On that basis, this study aims to determine whether the waste management at Sukawinatan TPA complies with the applicable budget based on Regional Regulation 7 of 2016. Environmental pollution in the Sukawinatan TPA area, especially in the air and soil, greatly impacts the health of the community resulting in a decrease in the level of public health. The active role of the community is also needed to live a clean and healthy life by applying the 4R principles and improving technology in waste management according to the type of waste. Abstract

A review of the socio-demographic characteristics and children fish consumption on stunting incidenceBackground: Social demographics and protein intake are widely known to be related to stunting incidence. Fish, a source of complete and high-quality protein, contains essential amino acids and high digestibility protein so the body can absorb high amounts of protein. Fish contains nutrients that are very important for the growth and development of toddlers. Objective: This research aims to determine the socio-demographic characteristics and consumption of fish and its processed products related to the stunting incidence in children aged 12-59 months. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from August to September 2022 at three health centers in Palembang City. A total of 120 toddlers aged 12-59 months, with 51.7% male and 48.3% female, were selected by purposive sampling.  The variables of this study were toddler characteristics (age, gender, and nutritional status), family characteristics (mother's education, mother's occupation, number of family members, and family income), family fish consumption (type of fish product, portion size, frequency of fish consumption). The study was conducted by interviews using a questionnaire and anthropometric measurements of toddlers. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence interval and p<0.05 significance level. Results: Lower education of mothers, working mothers, large families, high family incomes, consuming processed fish with less large portions, and often consuming fish had a higher percentage of stunting incidence. On the other hand, it was found that all variables were not significantly correlated to stunting in toddlers. Conclusions: This study showed that socio-demographic variables and fish consumption were not significantly associated with stunting in children under five.
