Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh tepung kedelai dalam formulasi makanan terhadap cedera caecum dan perubahan jumlah sel piala yang terpajan koksidiosis caecal broiler. Dua puluh ayam broiler pada umur 15 hari diacak menjadi 4 kelompok perlakuan. P0 diberi makan basal dan tidak terinfeksi E. tenella . P1 diberi makan basal ditambahkan dengan tepung kedelai 35% dan tidak terinfeksi E. tenella. P2 diberi makan basal dan terinfeksi. Basal yang diberi makan P3 menambahkan 35% tepung kedelai dan terinfeksi. Data yang diperoleh dari skor lession dianalisis dengan uji Kruskall Wallis, sedangkan data jumlah sel piala dianalisis dengan ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tepung kedelai mengurangi skor lesi cecal (p> 0,05) dan tidak berpengaruh pada peningkatan jumlah sel cecal goblet (p> 0,05) ayam broiler yang terinfeksi coccidia.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate the number of prevalence of Trypanosomiasis of wild rats in Banyuwangi. Sixty wild rats were trapped from human residence, markets and rice fields in Banyuwangi. Rat`s  blood smear was stained by Giemsa. The result show that one (1.67%.) of 60 blood sample was appear Trypanosoma sp..  The prevalence of Trypanosomiasis of wild rats in Banyuwangi was 1.67%.

Abstract

Infectious disease is a major problem for animal husbandry. One of infectious disease is caused by Ascaridia galli (A. galli). Ascaridiasis occurs in either broiler or layer that caused decrease of meat and egg productions. Garlic (Allium sativum) contain alicin  that have the ability to kill parasites.This research was conducted to determine the effect of garlic on time of death of A. galli. In this research used A. galli with length 7-11 cm regardless the sex. The treatment used local (Indonesian garlic), kating and single garlic with concentration of 39.50%, 62.40% and 98.60%. The negative control used NaCl physiology (0.9 %). The result showed that all the treatment group can shortened the time of death of A. galli compared to control. The time of death of A. galli on local garlic infusion with 39.50 % concentration was 6.24 hours, on 62.40 % concentration was 4.94 hours and on 98.60 % concentration was 3.97 hours, kating garlic infusion on 39.50 % concentration was 5.08 hours on 62.40 % concentration was 3.81 hours, on 98.60 % concentration was 2.96 hours, single garlic infusion on 39.50 % concentration was 5.4 hours, on 62.40 % concentration  was 3.86 hours, on 98.60 % concentration was 3.83 hours. The best treatment was kating garlic on 98.60% concentration because give shortest time of death.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan prevalensi dan derajat infeksi cacing saluran pencernaan pada itik petelur di dua kondisi lingkungan yang berbeda. Sampel feses diperiksa dengan metode sedimentasi dan metode apung kemudian dilanjutkan dengan menghitung telur cacing per gram tinja dengan metode Mc Master. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 22,9% (8/35) itik petelur di Dusun Keper terinfeksi oleh Capillaria sp., dan Echinostoma revolutum, dengan rata-rata derajat infeksi sebsar 52,50 ± 41,662, sedangkan 31,4% (11/35) itik petelur di Dusun Markolak terinfeksi oleh Capillaria sp., Echinostoma revolutum, dan cacing dari kelas cestoda, dengan rata-rata derajat infeksi sebesar 155,45 ± 166,395. Infeksi bersifat tunggal maupun campuran. Analisis terhadap prevalensi dan derajat infeksi cacing saluran pencernaan itik petelur menunujukkan hasil yang tidak signifikan (p>0,05) antara Dusun Keper dan Dusun Markolak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi dan tingkat keparahan scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei) pada ternak kelinci di Desa Sajen, Kecamatan Pacet, Kabupaten Mojokereto. Sarcoptes scabiei var. cuniculi merupakan tungau dengan predileksi di stratum korneum dari kulit dan penyebab scabies. Gejala klinis ditandai dengan alopecia and krusta pada kulit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksploratif labolatorik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel yang digunakan adalah kelinci pada satu peternakan yang memiliki gejala klinis scabies dan hasil dari kerokan kulit pada pemeriksaan laboratoris secara natif. Kelinci yang   positif scabies kemudian dilakukan skoring berdasarkan tingkat keparahan pada regio tubuh dan gejala klinisnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 110 ekor kelinci dalam populasi, terdapat 19 ekor yang terinfeksi scabies dan terdapat 2 tingkat keparahan scabies pada kelinci yaitu tingkat keparahan ringan dan sedang yang terbagi atas 2 regio tubuh. Tingkat keparahan ringan menunjukkan gejala klinis alopecia dan krusta pada regio wajah sedangkan tingkat keparahan sedang pada regio wajah dan kaki. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah angka prevalensi scabies sebesar 17,27% dan tingkat keparahan ringan sebesar 26,32% serta tingkat keparahan sedang sebesar 73,68.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to determine concentration, exposure time, interaction between concentration and exposure time of ethanol extract of Ocimum sanctum Linn. Leaves to cause death toward Ascaridia galli in vitro, and the value of LC50 and LC90 ethanol extract of Ocimum sanctum Linn. Leaves. Research design that has been used in the research was completely randomized design. This research used 200 samples of Ascaridia galli with length 7-11 cm without differentiating their sex. The concentration ethanol extract of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves were 1.25%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%. The control was using CMC-Na 0.5%. Each treatment then being replicated four times. The observation and recording of dead worm were done at 0, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours. Ascaridia galli were declared dead if there was no movement while disturbed by anatomy tweezers and dipped in slightly warm water (50ºC). The obtained data was analyzed using Anova Factorial and continued with Duncan Multiple Range Test by SPSS for Windows 22. The result were 10% concentration and exposure time for 24 hours caused the most mortality toward Ascaridia galli. Interaction between concentration and exposure time resulted 10% concentration ethanol extract of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves in 24 hours caused the most mortality towards Ascaridia galli. Probit analysis was used to calculate the LC50 and LC90 of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves. The results were LC50 ethanol extract of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves at 6 hours was 14.8%, at 12 hours was 4.8% and at 24 hours was 3.0% and the LC90 at 24 hours was 9.1%.

Abstract

A study on the infestation of ectoparasites in chicken’s raised in Village of Kramat, District of Bangkalan, Regency of Bangkalan was conducted between July to October 2017. A total of 60 chickens were examined based on their sex and region of the chicken’s body. Identification was carried out on ectoparasites found identified using permanent mounting methods and scraping. The types of ectoparasites were M. gallinae 77%, L. caponis 52%, M. stramineus 15%, R. sanguineus 3%, G. gallinae 2%, G. gigas 2%, and D. gallinae 2%. Data were analyzed using Chi Square and Correspondence. The results of infestation was higher in males than females, although the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Results of analysis of the pattern of investation of ectoparasites in the region that includes in males and females body are M. gallinae in the region of the back. L. caponis in the region of the wings. M. stramineus. R. sanguineus in the region of the head-neck, G. gigas in the region of belly, G. gallinae in the region of the leg just found in the males body. D. gallinae in the region of the leg just found in the females body.

Abstract

Research of gastrointestinal protozoan in cats at Surabaya are still limited. Protozoa infection of the gastrointestinal tract can cause diarrhea and even zoonosis. This research aimed to identify and determine the prevalence of protozoan in cats in animal hostptal and animal clinic in Surabaya. Ninety  fecal samples were collected from 2 animal clinic and one animal hospital. Samples were  examined e wet mount (native, sedimentation, and floatation) and (Ziehl Nellsen) stain. Protozoa was identified by using a light microscope with 400x and 1000x magnification. The result showed 68,89% of samples were positively infected by gastrointestinal protozoa. The protozoa were Blastocystis sp, Cryptosporidium sp, Giardia sp, and Eimeria sp. By chi square test, there was  not significant differences the prevalence of gastrointestinal protozoan in cat between sex, age, breed, and diarrhea status

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the prevalence of major gastrointestinal protozoal infections, the kinds of protozoa that infects and maintenance systems influence on pigeons in Surabaya. Pigeon taken from five regions of Surabaya namely North Surabaya, East Surabaya, West Surabaya, South Surabaya and Surabaya Center. Each region is taken as many as 20 pigeons consisted of 10 pigeons with extensive maintenance system  and 10 pigeons with intensif maintenance system. So that the total overall sample is 100 pigeons. Laboratory examination (microscopic) was conducted in November 2017 until January 2017. Examination of the upper gastrointestinal tract using throat swabs and stool samples were examined with native methods, sedimentation, and flotation. Identification using a microscope using 40x objective scale and 10x oculer scale to determine gastrointestinal protozoal that was found. Data was analyzed using Chi Square Test statistical analysis. Results showed 78% of the positive samples gastrointestinal protozoa infections in pigeons in the city of Surabaya. Results of Chi Square Test statistical analysis showed a p value of 0.030 (p<0.05) which means significantly different. Types of protozoa found that Trichomonas gallinae (49%) and Eimeria sp. (61%). The prevalence of gastrointestinal protozoal pigeons on extensive maintenance sistem  was higher (44%) compared to the intensive caresis system(34%).

Abstract

This was a Community Service activity that aims to share knowladge about utilization of Curcuma Molasses Block (CMB) to increase performance of goats that infected gastrointestinal (GI) parasites to The Goat Breeder Group at  Wonorejo, Wates District, Kediri Regency. The activities include: counseling about raising goat management, presentasion on worm diseases that infect goats and CMB as anthelmentic, workshop and practice to make CMB, detection egg worm in goat`s feces, treatment on infected goats and filling out questionnaires evaluating the performance of goat before and after giving CMB. The result show that all of feces samples were positive contain egg worms of  Haemonchus contortus, Chabertina ovina, Trichuris globulosa, Strongyloides papillosus, Fasciola gigantica, Trichostrongylus spp., Toxocara sp., and Oesohagustomum columbianum even also protozoans  Eimeria sp., and Blastocystis sp. Administration CMB increase performance of worm-infected goats which indicated by increase in appetite, soft and shiny hair and the body more well-fed.
