Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in supporting economic growth and employment in Indonesia, but still face various challenges, particularly in terms of managerial management and the use of digital technology. This study aims to analyze MSME development through digital managerial interventions based on Empowerment Theory, using a case study of VJ Homebake Bakery & Eatery located in Mojokerto City, East Java. This study uses a qualitative approach with a participatory case study method, in which the researcher is directly involved in the business assistance process. The interventions carried out included optimizing the digital visibility of the business, strengthening branding and product packaging strategies, and implementing a digital payment system to improve operational efficiency. The analytical framework refers to Psychological Empowerment Theory, which emphasizes the cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions in the process of strengthening the capacity of business actors. The results of the study show that managerial digital interventions can improve digital literacy, confidence, and active participation of business owners in business management. In addition, increased business visibility and transaction efficiency have a positive impact on operational performance and customer engagement. These findings confirm that empowerment-based digital managerial interventions are an effective strategy in supporting the sustainability and competitiveness of MSMEs at the local level.

Abstract

Economic challenges are closely linked to discussions about micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs) due to their vital role in GDP contribution and job creation. Despite this, the progress of small businesses evolving into sustainable entities has been sluggish over the last decade. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct research aimed at bolstering the capabilities of SMEs in Indonesia. This research examines the financial behavior of SMEs through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The goal is to pinpoint the factors that affect SMEs' financial behavior and their implications for financial planning. The SLR process consists of three key stages: identification, selection, and synthesis, with this study analyzing 15 pertinent articles. The results indicate that financial behavior is shaped by various factors, such as financial literacy, financial satisfaction, financial socialization, and mental accounting. This research serves as a resource for stakeholders in the SME sector, including researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, to enhance the capabilities of SMEs in Indonesia. Additionally, the findings aim to contribute to the global financial literature by offering a more organized behavioral finance model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of compensation and benefits, work environment, and employee demographics on employee performance mediated by motivation in quantitative manufacturing companies using a survey method. The research population was all employees, with a sample of 104 employees selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The study's results indicate that compensation and benefits have a positive and significant impact on employee performance and motivation. The work environment has a positive and significant effect on motivation, but it does not have a direct effect on employee performance. Employee demographics have no significant effect on employee motivation or performance. Motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance and has been shown to mediate the relationship between compensation and benefits, as well as the work environment, on employee performance. This research provides practical implications for company management in improving employee performance through improved compensation systems, conducive work environments, and increased work motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine work experience, work environment, and work culture on employee performance, both directly and through work motivation as a mediating variable. This research is based on two main grand theories, namely Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and Self-Determination Theory. Quantitative approach with survey method, The research population is all employees of the production division of PT Ekamas Fortuna Malang which totals 332 people. Sampling was carried out using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique with a sample of 179 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling method based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS software. The results of the hypothesis testing showed that all ten hypotheses proposed in this study were proven to be statistically supported. Work experience, work environment, and work culture were each proven to have a positive and significant effect on employee work motivation, indicating that these three factors are relevant motivational antecedents in the context of the manufacturing industry and motivation has also been shown to mediate the relationship between these three variables. An important finding of this study is the confirmation of the dual role of work motivation, namely as a variable that directly drives employee performance as well as as a mediator that strengthens and channels the indirect influence of work experience, work environment, and work culture on performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the work environment, organizational culture, and employee engagement on employee performance with Lean Manufacturing as a mediating variable. The research population amounted to 255 employees consisting of various levels of positions, with a sample of 154 respondents selected using proportional sampling techniques in 4 sections/divisions. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with a Likert scale and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The results of the study show that the work environment, organizational culture and employee involvement have a positive and significant effect on the implementation of Lean Manufacturing. Lean Manufacturing, work environment, and organizational culture have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, employee involvement does not have a significant effect directly on employee performance. Meanwhile, the indirect influence of the work environment, organizational culture, and employee involvement has a positive and significant effect on employee performance through the mediation of Lean Manufacturing implementation. An important finding of this study is that Lean Manufacturing acts as a full mediator between employee engagement and employee performance. This research provides a theoretical contribution in integrating Socio-Technical Systems Theory (STS) and Social Exchange Theory (SET) in the context of the manufacturing industry in Indonesia, as well as providing practical implications for companies to integrate human factor management with Lean systems synergistically to improve organizational performance in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The acceleration of digitalization has created both opportunities and challenges for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly traditional culinary businesses that face intense market competition and changing consumer behavior. Many MSMEs still experience limitations in digital literacy and promotional management, which hinder their business growth and sustainability. This study aims to analyze digital business trends and examine digital promotional strategies implemented by UMKM Sate Madura Cak Ardi in supporting entrepreneurial development through business assistance in Malang City. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using participatory methods. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation during the mentoring process. The findings show that the adoption of digital platforms, including social media marketing, online food delivery services, digital payment systems, and Google Business Profile, significantly improved business visibility, customer engagement, and operational efficiency. Promotional strategies such as content-based marketing, visual branding, customer reviews, and promotional campaigns proved effective in strengthening brand identity and expanding market reach. Moreover, entrepreneurial mentoring enhanced the owner’s managerial capabilities and adaptability to digital market dynamics. This study concludes that the integration of digital promotional strategies supported by structured business assistance plays a vital role in strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of traditional MSMEs in the digital era.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas dan daya saing Dapur Aleeka sebagai UMKM kuliner, melalui pendampingan yang berfokus pada produk, harga, lokasi, promosi, branding, dan sertifikasi halal. Program ini juga mendukung pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) 5 (Kesetaraan Gender) dan 8 (Pekerjaan Layak dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi) dengan memberdayakan wirausaha perempuan dan memperkuat ekonomi berbasis komunitas. Aleeka Kitchen merupakan UMKM kuliner lokal yang dikelola oleh perempuan dan menghadapi berbagai tantangan, seperti keterbatasan jaminan produk, kurangnya branding, serta lemahnya daya saing. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan partisipatif, di mana pelaku usaha dilibatkan secara aktif dalam – Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas dan daya saing Dapur Aleeka sebagai UMKM kuliner, melalui pendampingan yang berfokus pada produk, harga, lokasi, promosi, branding, dan sertifikasi halal. Perubahan positif terlihat dari peningkatan profesionalisme, identitas merek yang lebih kuat, dan kesadaran akan pentingnya kehalalan produk. Selain itu, pendampingan juga berperan dalam memperkuat peran perempuan sebagai pelaku ekonomi produktif, membuka peluang kerja baru, dan menumbuhkan semangat wirausaha berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, pendampingan Aleeka Kitchen dapat menjadi model pengembangan UMKM kuliner perempuan yang legal, inovatif, dan berdaya saing dalam mendukung tercapainya SDG 5 dan SDG 8 di Indonesia.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk membantu UMKM Tea Station di Kota Malang dalam mengatasi permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan rendahnya visibilitas digital, belum adanya sertifikasi halal, serta kurang optimalnya strategi promosi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan daya saing, memperluas jangkauan pasar, dan memperkuat citra merek Tea Station melalui integrasi sertifikasi halal, optimalisasi Google Maps, dan pemanfaatan media sosial. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif dengan melibatkan pelaku usaha secara langsung dalam proses identifikasi masalah, perancangan solusi, pelaksanaan kegiatan, dan evaluasi hasil. Bentuk kegiatan meliputi pembuatan logo dan menu digital, pembuatan serta pengelolaan akun media sosial, pendaftaran usaha pada Google Maps, dan pendampingan pengajuan sertifikasi halal. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan visibilitas digital dengan bertambahnya penayangan dan interaksi di media sosial serta Google Maps, serta peningkatan kesadaran pelaku usaha terhadap pentingnya legalitas dan kehalalan produk. Dengan demikian, program ini berkontribusi terhadap penguatan kapasitas UMKM dalam aspek digitalisasi dan legalitas usaha sebagai langkah strategis menuju keberlanjutan bisnis di era ekonomi digital.

Abstract

Kegiatan pendampingan UMKM yang diinisiasi oleh Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) merupakan suatu bentuk pengabdian dalam mengembangkan bisnis kecil dan menengah. Di bawah bimbingan Prof. Dr. Agung Winarno, M.M., dan Dr. Agus Hermawan, M.M., M.Bus., dua mahasiswi dari program manajemen berupaya memperkenalkan produk jambu kristal milik Sudiadi dari Pasuruan pada pasar yang lebih luas. Ditanam dengan metode yang sangat baik di atas lahan 1,5 hektar, jambu kristal asal Desa Kersikan ini memiliki kualitas yang sangat baik. Meski demikian, ternyata Bapak Sudiadi memiliki kendala dalam memasarkan. Diawali dengan menggali permasalahan apa yang dihadapi, penulis mengupayakan solusi yang aplikatif. Bentuk pendampingan yang diberikan berupa pembuatan logo merek untuk produk jambu, pembuatan akun media sosial untuk memudahkan pemasaran secara online, serta inisiatif penjualan melalui booth stand di event Car Free Day (CFD) mingguan di Malang. Penulis beserta pemilik kebun juga telah melakukan studi banding pada kebun jambu kristal di Batu, guna menggali informasi penting mulai dari metode penanaman dan perawatan, hingga bagaimana mendapatkan pangsa pasar luar negeri.

Abstract

Transformasi digital dan penguatan manajerial telah menjadi kebutuhan penting bagi Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) di industri pengolahan batu untuk mempertahankan daya saing di pasar global. Penelitian ini mendokumentasikan program pendampingan yang diinisiasi oleh Universitas Negeri Malang kepada UD. Surya Onix di Kabupaten Tulungagung pada periode Februari hingga Maret 2026. Kegiatan pendampingan meliputi observasi lapangan, optimalisasi pemasaran digital melalui Instagram dan Tokopedia, pembaruan identitas merek, serta standardisasi operasional melalui penyusunan Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) tertulis. Perbaikan manajemen keuangan juga dilakukan melalui penyusunan laporan keuangan sederhana dan pencatatan stock opname. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam visibilitas produk secara digital serta keterlibatan konsumen melalui platform daring. Program ini sejalan dengan tujuan Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) poin 8, 9, dan 12 yang berfokus pada pekerjaan layak, inovasi industri, dan produksi yang bertanggung jawab. Intervensi akademis ini menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi antara perguruan tinggi dan UMKM dalam mempercepat digitalisasi industri di wilayah pedesaan.
