Abstract

This study explores how physical fitness, nutritional status, and self-concept influence Physical Education (PE) learning outcomes at State Junior High School 13 Padang. Using a quantitative correlational approach, the research involved 58 students sampled from a population of 160. Data were gathered through physical fitness tests, Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, self-concept questionnaires, and final PE grades. The results revealed that physical fitness contributes 5.18%, nutritional status contributes 6.78%, and self-concept contributes 9.33% to PE learning outcomes. Together, these factors explain 21.07% of the variance in students' PE performance. The analysis showed that each of these variables plays a significant role in shaping students' success in PE. To address the issues identified and enhance learning outcomes, the study recommends increasing the number of PE class hours, introducing school-based nutritional programs to improve students' diets, and developing initiatives to boost students' self-esteem and motivation. By focusing on these areas, schools can better support students' physical and psychological well-being, leading to improved educational outcomes in PE. This approach aims to provide a more holistic improvement in students' physical education, addressing both physical and mental aspects to foster better overall performance. Further research could examine the effectiveness of these interventions and their impact on broader educational goals.

Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of the STAD-type cooperative learning model versus the conventional model on football learning outcomes for Grade VIII students at Junior High School 2 Sijunjung, focusing on students' confidence levels. It addresses the low football learning outcomes associated with conventional teaching methods, which often lead to reduced engagement. The research aims to explore the interaction between learning models and student confidence, compare the effectiveness of both models, and examine differences in outcomes for high and low confidence students. Using a quasi-experimental method, the study involved 82 male students, categorized by confidence level and instructed through either the STAD or conventional model. Data were collected via confidence questionnaires and football skill tests, analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test. Findings indicate that the STAD model is more effective in improving football learning outcomes, particularly for students with low confidence. Conversely, high confidence students performed better with the conventional approach. This highlights the significant role of confidence in learning outcomes and suggests that collaborative settings benefit less confident learners. The study concludes that tailoring teaching methods to students' confidence levels can enhance engagement and performance. Future recommendations include strategies to boost student confidence, further improving physical education outcomes.

Abstract

The challenges faced by young people today in shaping their morality from adolescence can be identified through Physical Education (PE) learning. PE plays a significant role in shaping the morals and character of adolescent students. It goes beyond focusing solely on knowledge and psychomotor skills, incorporating essential moral aspects. By promoting discipline, fostering collaboration, and instilling a sense of responsibility, PE helps in molding well-rounded individuals. The objective of this study was to identify the moral values of adolescent students through PE learning. A descriptive research method with a quantitative approach was employed. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale questionnaire. The sample consisted of 64 junior high school students selected through random sampling techniques. This research utilized three indicators to describe the moral values of adolescent students: discipline, collaboration, and responsibility. The classification for determining good morals was based on standard categories of excellent, good, fair, poor, and very poor. The results showed that the moral values of adolescent students were as follows: 20% of students were classified as excellent, 78% as good, and 2% as fair, with no students falling into the poor or very poor categories. These findings indicate that PE learning significantly contributes to the moral development of adolescent students. Consequently, it can be concluded that PE learning is integral to shaping the morals of adolescent students, playing a crucial role in their overall development and character building. The positive impact observed underscores the importance of incorporating moral education within the PE curriculum to nurture disciplined, collaborative, and responsible individuals.

Abstract

Athlete health monitoring is critical for optimizing performance and ensuring physical well-being. This study presents an integrated non-invasive system designed to measure key physiological parameters: heart rate, blood oxygen saturation (SPO2), and body temperature. Utilizing infrared LED and photodiode sensors placed on the fingertip, the system detects changes in blood volume, correlating them with heart rate fluctuations. Pulse oximetry, employing red and infrared light wavelengths, accurately measures SPO2 levels by analyzing light absorption through finger tissues. Results from testing show promising accuracy with an average error of 0.89% for SPO2 measurements and 3.095% for heart rate measurements. Body temperature readings exhibit an average error of 0.78%, underscoring the system's reliability in non-invasively monitoring temperature changes. Challenges such as environmental influences and sensor calibration are addressed to ensure consistent and precise measurements. Future enhancements may incorporate advanced signal processing techniques and artificial intelligence to further refine measurement accuracy and reliability. This integrated system holds significant potential for enhancing athlete health management, aiding in early detection of physiological anomalies, and optimizing performance through real-time health monitoring

Abstract

Archery athletes train their physique and technique in order to perform a series of bow and arrow pulls to the maximum, but athletes who can perform movements well during training may not necessarily be able to do it perfectly during the match. Athletes' concentration can be disrupted by various things when competing and affect the performance and achievements of athletes. The ability to concentrate is something that can be trained through mental training. This study aims to test whether there is an effect of Mindfulness Meditation, as one of the mental training methods, on the concentration of archery athletes. This study uses an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subject of this study is 30 athletes from the Unimed Archery Club who are divided into experimental and control groups. The instrument used to measure the concentration of athletes is the Grid Concentration Exercise. Data were obtained by conducting pretest and posttest on both groups. Mindfulness Meditation treatment was given only to the experimental group. The results of the Wilcoxon Test analysis showed that there was a difference in concentration scores between after and before treatment in the experimental group (Sig.=0.027, p<0.05), meaning that the hypothesis "there is an effect of Mindfulness Meditation on concentration in Unimed Archery Club Archery Athletes" was accepted. The experimental group had a higher average gain score than the control group (5.5>0.76), which showed that Meditation Mindfulness had an effect on increasing the concentration of Archery athletes.

Abstract

This research investigates whether personality type and mental toughness differ significantly between national and regional-level combat athletes, exploring if competition level impacts athletes' psychological traits. The research design was cross-sectional, involving data collection at a single point in time from two groups of athletes (national and regional) using a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The sample consisted of 14 advanced fighters, 7 from the national and 7 from the regional teams. Participants were recruited using purposive sampling, targeting athletes who met specific criteria for competitive experience. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, and the research instruments included the EPQ-R for personality assessment and a mental toughness questionnaire. Statistical analysis used SPSS 25, which involved variance tests to ensure data validity and reliability. The study revealed no significant differences (p > 0.05) in personality type or mental toughness between the two groups. Regional athletes had a higher average EPQ-R score (34.6) than national athletes (28.85). Regarding mental toughness, only 2 national athletes scored in the "Very Tough" category, while all 7 regional athletes fell into the "Tough" category. These findings suggest that competition level does not substantially influence athletes' psychological characteristics. Coaches and sports practitioners can leverage these insights to tailor training programs that effectively meet athletes' psychological needs across different competitive levels.
