Abstract

This study was motivated by the lack of age-appropriate reading materials at the school, as well as the teacher's desire to invite students to preserve local culture through local languages. This study aims to describe the implementation of the P5 storybook program with the theme of local wisdom in fostering the creative character and love for the country of grade IV students of SDN 3 Beleka. Using a descriptive case study approach, the subject of this research is the fourth grade teacher of SDN 3 Beleka. Data were collected through interviews and documentation. The results of the research on the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) through the Storybook program show that this initiative increases the creativity and sense of patriotism of grade IV students of SDN 3 Beleka. The implementation of the P5 program through Storybooks includes three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The impact of the P5 storybook program is proven to increase students' creativity which can be seen from two aspects, namely creativity in ideas and presentation, as well as the development of writing and speaking skills. Meanwhile, the impact of the Storybook P5 program on the character of patriotism is reflected in two main results, namely fostering a love for local culture and deepening students' understanding of local identity.

Abstract

The importance of character education in early childhood cannot be ignored because this phase is the "Golden Age" or golden period where the foundation of character and personality begins to form. For this reason, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia issued the P5 program as an effort to strengthen character from an early age. This program requires all levels of education to implement P5, but in reality the implementation of the P5 program in kindergarten is still not optimally organized, so it does not have well-structured Planning, Management, Implementation, and Processing. On the other hand, Permata Hati Islamic Preschool Kindergarten has implemented the P5 Program consistently for a long time, so that this institution shows mature readiness in its implementation as an effort to strengthen the formation of positive character in early childhood. This study aims to analyze and identify the integrated P5 growth and development model. This study uses a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that strengthening children's character in Permata Hati Islamic Preschool Kindergarten through the P5 learning model has been carried out well, structured and systematically. The character strengthening that is focused on consists of having faith, piety and noble morals, strengthening cooperation and mutual assistance, instilling the values of responsibility and environmental concern, independence and discipline, creativity and innovative intelligence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of character education in Integrated Islamic Elementary Schools (SDIT) and Public Elementary Schools (SDN) through a comparative approach. Character education plays a crucial role in shaping students' personalities, fostering responsibility, and promoting integrity. The research adopts a case study methodology to explore how character education is implemented in two distinct school environments. Data was gathered through observations, interviews, and documentation at SDIT and SDN schools in West Lombok. The findings indicate that SDIT offers a more structured, religiously oriented, and integrated character education program within the curriculum. This includes practices such as morning dhikr, prayer guidance, and the use of habit tracking books at home. SDIT also conducts formal evaluations using quantitative data, such as recording violations and assessing students' affective values. These evaluations are discussed during monthly meetings and annual work reviews. In contrast, SDN focuses on a simpler, habit-based approach, emphasizing activities like prayer before class, class duties, and extracurricular activities. However, there are no formal tools in place for evaluation. As a result, SDIT tends to be more attractive to parents compared to Public Elementary Schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the storytelling model in the Sasak community as an effort to develop the character of early childhood. Storytelling, as one of the local cultural traditions that has existed for a long time, has great potential in shaping character and instilling moral values in children. In the context of the Sasak community, folk tales and legends that are passed down orally contain important messages about kindness, honesty, courage, and responsibility. This study uses a quantitative survey approach with interview techniques and distributing questionnaires to parents, educators, and Sasak community leaders. The results of the study indicate that storytelling not only functions as a means of entertainment, but also as an effective method in children's character education, especially in introducing social and cultural values. In addition, children's active participation in listening to and discussing these stories strengthens their understanding of the norms that apply in society. This study concludes that the integration of the storytelling model in early childhood education can play an important role in children's character development, while maintaining the sustainability of local culture that is the identity of the Sasak community.

Abstract

This study began with the problems faced, namely the lack of environmental awareness among students of SDN 43 Mataram, especially in plastic waste management. The problems identified in this study include: 1) Suboptimal utilization of plastic waste in the school environment; 2) The lack of environmentally conscious character in students related to waste management; 3) Efforts to instill environmentally conscious character through the use of ecobricks and products from the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project. The purpose of this study was to explain the extent to which ecobrick products can instill environmentally conscious character. This study used a descriptive qualitative method to obtain data on instilling environmentally conscious character through the use of ecobricks at SDN 43 Mataram. Data were collected through student observations, interviews with teachers, and documentation of activities. The results of the study showed that environmentally conscious character can be improved, indicated by the habit of disposing of garbage in its place, using enough water to wash plastic waste, separating plastic waste from other types, and washing hands with soap after activities. In addition to developing environmentally conscious character, this study also showed improvements in other aspects of development, such as fine motor skills, cognition, language, religious and moral values, social emotional, and art. Ecobricks made by students are used as bookshelves and bottle puppets, which are not only useful, but also function as literacy media for students.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the application of the SIDIA program in forming a queuing culture among elementary school students. Education at the elementary level is an important foundation in developing students' character, including discipline and patience. Observations at one school in Mataram showed that many students did not show good queuing behavior, such as crossing the line when entering class and being impatient when checking assignments. The SIDIA program is implemented both inside and outside the classroom to increase students' awareness of the importance of human culture. In the classroom, the methods used include presenting learning videos that teach character values such as patience and discipline. The results show a significant improvement in student behavior, such as discipline when submitting assignments and shaking hands with teachers outside the classroom. This program also succeeded in creating a more orderly queuing atmosphere, especially in the library, thanks to the use of partitions and attractive slogans. By implementing this program, it is hoped that the culture of queuing can become a habit that is ingrained in students' character, supporting broader and sustainable educational goals. Overall, this research emphasizes the importance of educational character in shaping good social behavior among students and provides recommendations for other schools to implement similar programs in order to achieve SDGs goals in the education sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of character development of discipline in children at Pembina Sikur State Kindergarten and parenting education efforts implemented by parents at home. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The instruments used include observation sheets for the development of children's discipline character. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman technique, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the “Morning Journal” model implemented in schools was effective in improving children's disciplined character. This model involves collaboration between schools and parents, through parenting education activities such as "Parent Class." Children showed very good development of disciplined character, which was reflected in behaviors such as arriving on time, obeying class rules, and maintaining cleanliness. Parents also supported this development at home by getting children used to being responsible, making daily schedules, giving praise, and being role models. This study emphasizes the importance of synergy between schools and families in forming the disciplined character of early childhood through a parenting education-based approach.
