Abstract

Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe. Var. Rubrum) and Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids and essential oils. which is antibacterial that causes pharyngitis by Staphylococcus aureus. This study aims to determine the antibacterial potency of the combination of Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe. Var. Rubrum) and Cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii) extract against Staphylococcus aureus. Experimental research includes the extraction of the compound components in red ginger and cinnamon by maceration with 70% ethanol. Inhibition was tested by diffusion method. Combination of concentration of Red Ginger and Cinnamon extracts of 5% : 40%; 10%: 30%; 20%: 20%; 30%: 10% and 40%: 5%. The combination of red ginger and cinnamon extract has antibacterial activity against pharyngitis-causing bacteria, namely Staphylococcus aureus with a strong response at a concentration of 5%: 40%.

Abstract

Mosquitoes are one of the insects whose presence is often disturbing. Plants of Kenikir (Cosmos caudatus) contains saponins, polyphenols, and volatile oils. This study uses an experimental method. Tests carried out include: organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, and effectiveness. The results showed that Kenikir leaf extract has effectiveness in resisting mosquitoes. Organoleptic test of lotion with a concentration of 5%, 10%, and 15% have a dark green colour and has a distinctive odour of Kenikir. Homogeneity test of lotion with a concentration of 5% is homogeneous, while concentrations of 10% and 15% are not homogeneous. Homogeneity and organoleptic tests have fulfilled the requirements of mosquitoes repellent lotion. The resulting lotion effectively repels mosquitoes

Abstract

Calcium minerals play an important role in maintaining body functions, while Lead is a dangerous heavy metal. The research was aimed at determining the levels of Calcium and Lead from several refill water depots in Medan. Calcium complexometry and lead AAS as their respective assay methods. Research shows calcium levels are 10.3-29.3 mg/L, correlation coefficient is 0.9928, and no lead is found in refill drinking water. Calcium levels do not meet the requirements, while lead levels still meet the WHO requirements.

Abstract

Eyebrow cream (EC) is one of the decorative cosmetics applied to the eyebrows using a brush for the purpose of giving color and emphasizing the shape of the eyebrows. EC is one of the practical preparations to fill in empty eyebrow hairs. The research was conducted of formulating activated charcoal into EC. The research method includes the formulation and evaluation of EC results from coconut shell activated charcoal at concentrations of activated charcoal 1%, 3%, 5% and 7%. Evaluation includes: organoleptic, homogeneity, irritation and pH of Eyebrow Cream. The organoleptic showed that the color of the preparation at a concentration of 1% -7% was black to dark black, with a cocoa oleum aroma, and a semi-solid texture. The pH of the preparation is 4.5-6.5 with good homogeneity. The preparation did not show irritation to the skin of volunteers. The study provide information that activated charcoal can be formulated into EC preparations. Coconut shell activated charcoal can be formulated in the form of eyebrow cream. The preparation of eyebrow cream does not cause irritation and is safe.

Abstract

Indonesia's natural wealth that is efficacious in suppressing cholesterol, hypertension, diarrhea, gastritis and blood sugar is one of the bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum Wight.). Tablets are preparations that are practical to use, easy to produce, pack, and distribute. The research was directed to make tablets of bay leaf ethanol extract (EEDS) by direct compression. EEDS tablets were made into four formulas with various fillers of lactose and Avicel PH 102, each 200 mg : 135 mg A); 250 mg : 105 mg (B); 300 mg : 55 mg (C); and 350 mg : 5 mg (D). The study showed that all formulas met the preformulation test requirements and tablet evaluation, D as the best formula. EEDS is made into tablets by direct compression.

Abstract

Tablet effervescent adalah tablet yang menghasilkan gas (CO2) sebagai hasil reaksi kimia bahan-bahan penyusun tablet dengan cairan pelarutnya (air). Jambu biji merah memiliki kandungan betakaroten vitamin C yang cukup tinggi dan Jambu biji putih kaya akan tanin, fenol, triterpen, flavonoid, minyak esensial, saponin, karotenoid, vitamin, serat, dan asam lemak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan kadar vitamin C dari ekstrak biji jambu biji merah dan biji jambu biji putih (Psidium guavala. L). Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental,evaluasi sediaan serbuk yang dilakukan meliputi uji waktu alir, sudut diam, uji kompaktibilitas, evauasi sediaan tablet yang dilakukan meliputi organoleptis, waktu larut, keseragaman bobot, kekerasan tablet, friabilitas tablet, uji pH, uji kadar vitamin C dengan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan uji waktu alir 11,31-16, sudut diam memenuhi syarat lebih dari 20% dan kurang dari 40%, uji kompaktibilitas memenuhi syarat kurang dari 20%, sediaan tablet effervescent berbentuk bulat, bau seperti coklat, warna coklat hingga coklat tua, rasa sedikit manis, uji waktu alir memenuhu syarat, kekerasan tablet memenuhi syarat, friabilitas memenuhu syarat, uji pH bersifat mendekati netral pada pH 5,81-6,51,uji kadar vitamin C 0,19105mg/g – 0,278164 mg/g. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah formulasi tablet effervescent ekstrak biji jambu biji merah dan biji jambu biji putih (Psidium guavala. L) dapat diformulasikan dalam sediaan tablet effervescent dan memiliki kadar vitamin C tertinggi 0,278 mg/g.

Abstract

Fruit syrup is made from a sugar solution, the taste and aroma are determined by the freshness of the fruit. Fruit commonly used in making syrup has an attractive color, aroma and distinctive taste. Passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims.) has a distinctive taste and aroma, so it is widely processed into syrup. This study was to evaluate CMC and Agar-Agar stabilizers in the passion fruit syrup formula. Evaluation includes color, appearance, texture, taste and aroma and hedonic tests are carried out. The results showed that there were significant differences in the color, appearance, texture, taste and aroma of passion fruit syrup. Stabilizers CMC and Agar-Agar make the color, texture and appearance of the syrup better and more attractive. The result of hedonic test for ideal syrup concentration is S3 with 4 g of Agar and 6 g of CMC. The higher the concentration of CMC and Agar, the greater the viscosity of the syrup. The concentration of CMC and Agar-agar in a mixture of fruit juices gave significantly different effects on color, texture, appearance, taste and aroma

Abstract

The plant of findings turmeric (Curcuma longa) are often used as a traditional medicinal. The part of the turmeric plant that is often used is the rhizome. In addition to turmeric rhizome, turmeric leaves are also used as a flavoring dish. Among the benefits of turmeric leaves is as an antimicrobial. Soap is a surfactant used for washing and cleaning. Antiseptics are inhibitors for the growth and development of microorganisms that live on the surface of the body. The study was to determine which ethanol extract of turmeric leaves could be formulated into antiseptic solid soap preparations. This study used an experimental method, turmeric leaves were extracted with 70% ethanol. The formula made are 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%. The quality of the soap preparation was carried out by organoleptic tests, acidity, high foam and irritation. The results test showed that the solid soap did not have the aroma of turmeric leaves, the pH of the soap was 9.9-10.5; foam height with a concentration of 7.5% which is 7.3 cm; and solid soap preparations ethanol extract of turmeric leaves did not cause irritation. The extract of turmeric leaves can be formulated into solid soap preparations. It is recommended to add perfume to the formulation of solid soap preparations of turmeric leaf extract as an antiseptic.

Abstract

Maceration of Celery leaves using 96% ethanol solvent was used to make the extract. Toothpaste is formulated with carboxymethylcellulose and alginate binders. The active ingredient in the form of ethanol extract of Celery leaves has the potential for antibacterial. This study was to evaluate the concentration of carboxymethylcellulose-alginate in the preparation of antiseptic toothpaste of ethanol extract of Celery leaves. Evaluation of production results consisted of organoleptic, homogeneity, spreadability, foam formation, acidity and viscosity. The higher the concentration of carboxymethylcellulose, the lower the foam and spreadability and the higher the viscosity, while the alginate concentration is the opposite. Abstract

Diare ditandai ekskresi tinja cair dengan ulangan tiga kali atau lebih per hari, akibat infeksi saluran cerna karena makanan dan air terkontaminasi mikroorganisme, ataupun langsung dari manusia akibat rendahnya sanitasi. Penelitian ditujukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik pasien diare, pengobatan dan efektivitas biaya pengobatan di Rumah Sakit Putri Hijau Medan. Penelitian non eksperimental bersifat deskriptif dan retrospektif rekam medik pasien bagian keuangan sejak Juli-Desember 2018. Cost Effectiveness Analysis sebagai metode analisis biaya. Karakteristik pasien diperoleh perempuan 14 (46,670%) dan laki-laki 16 (53,33%). Efektivitas New Diatabs (92,30%) dan New Diatabs-Metronidazole (94,11%). Biaya terapi dengan New Diatabs Rp 1.547,771/pasien dan New Diatabs-Metronidazole Rp 1.562,590/pasien. Average cost effectiveness New Diatabs Rp. 190.345 dan New Diatabs-Metronidazole Rp 183.060, sehingga disimpulkan terapi cost effective adalah penggunaan kombinasi New Diatabs-Metronidazole dibandingkan New Diatabs
