Abstract

This study examines the application of YouTube videos as teaching materials in learning to write summaries of the folk tale "Malin Kundang" for eighth-grade students of SMP IT Al Misbah Pematang Kuala. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method, involving 20 students as research subjects. Data were collected through learning artifacts in the form of story summaries written by students, observations of the learning process, and learning documentation. Analysis was carried out multidimensionally covering narrative structure, linguistic quality, paraphrase originality, and textual coherence. This effectiveness is explained through the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (Mayer, 2021), which states that dual-channel processing (visual and auditory) produces a richer, integrated mental representation than single-channel processing. YouTube videos facilitate the modality transformation from oral-visual input to textual output, resulting in more authentic paraphrasing than written text-based learning, which tends to encourage copy-pasting. Individual variations in summary length (120-200 words), opening type (5 types), and storytelling focus (3 perspectives) reflect meaningful construction and learner agency, not weakness. This research reconceptualizes YouTube videos from an entertainment platform to a cognitive tool that facilitates deep learning and skill development. Further research with a quasi-experimental design, a larger sample size, a longitudinal approach, and a think-aloud protocol is recommended for stronger validation. This research contributes to the empirical validation of CTML in the context of EFL writing, the extension of paraphrasing and modality transformation theories, and the development of a multidimensional qualitative descriptive analysis framework for assessing summary quality. The findings confirm that YouTube videos, when integrated with a structured learning design, can be an integral component of Indonesian language learning that enhances digital native student engagement, facilitates higher-order thinking, and minimizes plagiarism through authentic paraphrasing

Abstract

The phenomenon of hate speech narratives on social media reflects an increasingly complex crisis in communication ethics in the digital disinformation era. Dakwah, which should be a means of moral education, is now often trapped in polarizing rhetoric that narrows the space for religious dialog. This research aims to analyze the construction of hate narratives in digital preaching discourse and examine their relationship to the crisis of communication ethics amidst the flow of disinformation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method, this study analyzes the content of religious sermons on the YouTube, X (Twitter), and TikTok platforms that feature hate speech and ideological bias. The research findings indicate that disinformation serves as the primary trigger for the emergence of hate narratives, which then exacerbate the crisis of communication ethics in the digital preaching space. Confrontational da'wah language tends to create a moral dichotomy between "us" and "them," strengthen social polarization, and weaken the principle of tabligh bil hikmah (preaching with wisdom). However, digital preaching also has the potential to be an instrument of moral restoration when managed with the values of rahmatan lil 'alamin, which emphasize empathy, honesty, and social responsibility. This research confirms that digital communication ethics literacy and the application of discourse ethics principles are essential foundations for building a civilized and inclusive da'wah space in the era of global disinformation

Abstract

A deep learning-based learning model was developed to enhance students' reflective and contextual understanding of learning materials while internalizing the values of the Pancasila Student Profile. This study aimed to create a contextual learning model for high school students in science class, employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential tests, including the Independent Samples t-Test and Paired Samples t-Test, to evaluate the model's effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes. The results revealed a significant difference in the experimental group, as the Paired Samples t-Test indicated a notable difference between the pre-test score (68.47) and the post-test score (83.20), with a t-value of -9.127 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). Additionally, the Independent Samples t-Test demonstrated that the average post-test score of the experimental group (83.20) was significantly higher than that of the control group (74.13), with a t-value of 4.213 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the local wisdom-based model effectively improves student learning outcomes compared to the conventional approach. This study highlights the importance of implementing an immersive learning model in high schools, emphasizing contextual strategies that engage students in critical and reflective thinking to internalize the values of the Pancasila Student Proficiency Profile. However, the limitations of this model, such as time and space constraints, suggest the need for further longitudinal research across various educational settings to comprehensively evaluate its effectiveness and adaptability.

Abstract

A differentiated teaching module, developed systematically and contextually over five sessions improve the language skills. The development of a differentiated teaching module in Indonesian language learning had a positive impact on students with ADHD. The paper aims to design to accommodate diverse student learning characteristics, taking into account content, processes, and learning products. The research is qualitative, supported by R&D and ADDIE models as techniques. The population includes all students with ADHD problems at a state school, and there are only two students classified in the sample. Data are collected through observation and in-depth interviews; both are conducted with classroom teachers, the teachers’ group, and parents. A documentation study also assists data collection. Focus is given on students’ attention, interaction, social skills, and engagement during learning, interviews, and the Indonesian language test. Data analysis technique uses qualitative methods in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research reveals several challenges in implementing the differentiated teaching module. Teachers face obstacles in adapting learning strategies to students’ needs, especially in heterogeneous classrooms. Further training is needed for teachers to implement differentiated learning methods. With the teaching module, schools can improve the quality of inclusive education for their students, enabling them to obtain a more optimal learning experience. This research also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between teachers, parents, and the school in supporting students’ academic and social development with ADHD through a more flexible and responsive learning approach to their needs.

Abstract

Indonesian-speaking skills of fourth-grade students are low because of a lack of confidence, fluency, and minimal active participation in conventional oral learning. This study also aims to determine the effectiveness of using language game learning methods in improving students' speaking skills and activity. The research method uses Kemmis and McTaggart’s Classroom Action Research (CAR) model, which is implemented in two cycles, where each cycle consists of four stages. The subjects are 30 fourth-grade students. Data collection instruments include a performance test (oral assessment) and student activity observation sheets. The criteria for the success of the action are determined if the percentage of classical completeness reaches at least 80%. The results show that there is a consistent and significant increase. The average score of students’ speaking skills in the pre-action stage only reaches 55.00, with a very low percentage of classical completeness. After the implementation of language games in Cycle I, the average score increases to 72.50 (65% completeness). Through corrective actions in Cycle II, the average score increases again to 85.00, and the classical completion percentage reaches 90%. This improvement is also accompanied by increasing students’ activity and confidence in speaking in class. Based on these results, this study concludes that the language game learning method is effective and successful in developing Indonesian speaking skills. This method has been proven to create a fun, interactive learning environment and motivate students to dare to speak, so the action hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to optimize the forecasting of the Net Value of Indonesia's mineral fuel exports using the Attention-based Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model, supported by Dropout and Recurrent Dropout techniques that are combined to produce an optimal model. Methods: Modeling uses an LSTM architecture equipped with an Attention mechanism, as well as Dropout and Recurrent Dropout. The research procedure uses the CRISP-DM (Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) methodology. The research material used is the Indonesian mineral fuel export dataset with HS code 27 from 2014 to 2025. Model was built using the Random Search method to optimize hyperparameters such as the number of neurons (units), activation functions (Tanh, ReLu), and optimizers (Adam, Nadam, RMSprop). Result: The Attention-based LSTM model with Dropout and Recurrent Dropout techniques achieved a MAPE of 7.76%, which was better than the other models tested. Attention analysis shows that lag 12 has the greatest dominance, while lags 11 to 10 also contribute significantly, indicating an annual seasonal pattern. Projections for the next 12 months show a moderate decline in Net Value, in line with seasonal trends and historical data. Novelty: The main contribution of this research is the optimization of an Attention-based LSTM model using a combination of Dropout and Recurrent Dropout techniques, which is effective in forecasting Indonesia's mineral fuel export values because it is able to capture annual seasonal patterns, thereby improving the accuracy and stability of the forecast results.
