Abstract

The importance of this research is to get to know the students’ perceptions and motivation of the prospective chemistry teachers in facing online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research design used was descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted on students of the Chemistry Education Study Program FKIP University of Lampung in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Data collection was carried out by using a questionnaire by means of google form and learning record data in the online data-log mode edusmart.fkip.unila.ac.id. and vclass.unila.ac.id. The results indicated that (1) the interaction pattern between the lecturers and students was quite good in terms of giving assignments and discussions. In terms of feedback and learning reflection, it, however, needs to be improved (2) Students' perception of online learning is less positive, this is indicated by the number of students who are disappointed because of learning methods un-interactive, (3) students are still not motivated yet to take online lectures due to limitation of internet signals and seem to consider it as assignments only. Keywords: COVID-19 pandemic, online learning, motivation, perception. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v22i1.pp77-89

Abstract

This study aimed to describe teacher's perception toward usage of interactive e-books based Problem Based Learning (PBL) to Envhance Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The research was conducted in 50 junior high school science teachers. The method used in this research is a mixed method with Sequential Explanatory Design. The method used in this study is a mixed method with Sequential Explanatory Design. Data is retrieved using questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The survey results show that students have a positive perception of interactive e-books based PBL. The results of the analysis of e-books, most eachers have not used interactive e-books with a PBL approach to provide an understanding of science. E-books that have not trained students' HOTS are also included in the low category because teacher has not set strategies, methods, models and lack of knowledge about technology. It can be said that interactive e-book based PBL are needed by teachers and students to improve students’ HOTS.Keywords: teacher perception, interactive e-books, problem-based learning, higher order thinking skills.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i1.pp234-243

Abstract

Enhancing students’ activity and science concept mastery using guided-inquiry based practical manual. This quasi-experimental research aimed to understand the effectiveness of guided-inquiry based practical manual for improving students’ activity and concept mastery of science. Sixty students from SMP Negeri 1 Natar were selected as research samples in this study. This research used two types of data that is quantitative data (pretest, postes, and n-gain) and qualitative data (learning observation and student activity). The results showed that high n-gain score (0.70) for both experimental class 1 and 2. In addition, the assessment of student activity in experimental classes 1 and 2 is also quite good with the score is 86.44% and 85.84%, respectively. Therefore, the use of guided inquiry based practical manuals is highly recommended to improve students’ learning activities and mastery of the science concept. Keywords: Practical manual, guided inquiry, students’ activity, science concept master DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v8.i1.201801

Abstract

Islamic-Based Leadership in Education: A Literature Review. From an Islamic perspective, leadership issues receive considerable attention, because in Islam leadership is considered the most important instrument for the realization of an ideal society. Objectives: This article aims to examine the urgency of leadership in Islam, the concept of Islamic-based leadership in education and the implementation of Islamic-based leadership in education from various literature. Methods: This article uses a literature review method to find answers to scientific questions posed to help achieve the article's objectives by searching databases from Google Scholar and ScienceDirect with literature for the last 10 years regarding Islamic-based leadership, resulting in 27 international and national articles. Findings: The research results show that leadership is an important element in the core of Islam. Islam has provided special guidelines for selecting leaders and guiding leaders so that they can carry out their mandate to achieve the blessing of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. Islamic leadership is leadership based on the Al-Qur’an and hadith. In its implementation in education, Islamic leadership emulates the characteristics of the Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam with the main characteristics, namely: shiddiq, amanah, tabligh and fathanah. Islamic leadership in education integrates moral, spiritual, and professional growth, aligning worldly goals with worship to achieve holistic development. Conclusion: Islamic leadership is a concept rooted in the principles of the Qur'an and Sunnah, emulating the character of Prophet Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam. This leadership approach focuses not only on achieving organizational goals but also on seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty. Islamic leadership in education includes three key dimensions: as a parent (care, commitment, responsibility), an educator (teaching with knowledge and understanding), and a leader (guiding with values and wisdom). Keywords: islamic leadership, islamic-based leadership in education, islamic perspective of leadership, prophetic leadership.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024142
