Abstract

This paper critically examines the Islamic civilization from two distinctive yet complementary perspectives: Ahmad Syalabi's historical approach and A. Malik Fadjar's educational reorientation framework. Ahmad Syalabi provides a comprehensive historical narrative of Islamic civilization, emphasizing the periodization and cultural achievements of Muslim societies. Meanwhile, A. Malik Fadjar offers a progressive educational paradigm through his concept of "Reorientasi Pendidikan Islam," which integrates traditional Islamic values with modern educational needs. This study employs a qualitative library research method to synthesize both perspectives and their implications for contemporary Islamic education, particularly within the Muhammadiyah context. The findings reveal that understanding Islamic civilization through historical lenses while simultaneously embracing educational innovation represents a balanced approach toward achieving "Islam Berkemajuan" (Progressive Islam) in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the problems in the literacy and numeracy skills of students at the elementary school level and the factors that affect them in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Data were collected through learning observations, in-depth interviews with classroom teachers and students, and documentation studies on learning outcomes and learning tools. Data analysis techniques are carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by applying data validity tests through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of this study show that the literacy and numeracy skills of elementary school students are still relatively low, especially in the aspects of reading comprehension, mathematical reasoning, and the application of concepts in the context of daily life. The main causative factors include low interest in reading, limited variety of learning methods, lack of use of innovative learning media, and lack of support for the learning environment at home. This research has an originality value in mapping literacy and numeracy problems comprehensively based on the context of learning in elementary schools. The findings of this research are expected to be the basis for educators and policy makers in designing learning strategies that are more contextual, innovative, and oriented towards strengthening students' literacy and numeracy skills in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative force in education globally, including in Indonesia, by offering solutions to improve teaching, learning, and education management. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the application of AI in Indonesian education through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach combined with bibliometric analysis. This study identifies the various applications of AI used in Indonesian education, the challenges faced in their implementation, and the direction of research and policy development that can strengthen the integration of AI in the education sector. Based on an analysis of 74 articles published between 2022 and 2026, key findings show that generative AI, such as ChatGPT, is becoming one of the most widely applied technologies in higher education, particularly in language learning and academic writing. The main challenges faced are infrastructure gaps, the digital readiness of teachers, and policies that are not comprehensive. Future research is suggested to focus on national policy development, practice-based training for teachers, and the development of more adaptive and inclusive AI technologies. This study provides important insights for policymakers and education practitioners in designing more effective AI adoption strategies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze how AI affects the Islamic education curriculum and identify the ethical challenges that arise in the process. The approach used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA guidelines by searching literature through the Scopus database using a combination of keywords "Islamic education", "Artificial Intelligence", "ethics", "technology", and "curriculum". Of the initial 49 articles, there were 8 articles that met the inclusion criteria analyzed thematically. The results of the study show that the integration of AI has driven the transformation of the Islamic education curriculum at three main levels: epistemological, pedagogical, and institutional. AI strengthens reflective and metacognitive learning models through adaptive learning systems and supports a digital-integrated curriculum that combines technology with Islamic values. However, significant ethical challenges also arise, such as data privacy issues, algorithmic bias, plagiarism, as well as the potential erosion of the authority of clerics and the value of spirituality in education. In addition, there is still a gap between the adoption of technology and the readiness of ethics and governance in accordance with the principles of maqāṣid al-sharī'ah. The practical implication is that Islamic educational institutions need to develop curriculum policies based on digital ethical literacy, AI capability building, and civilized data governance so that AI is not just a tool of efficiency, but a means of tazkiyat al-'aql wa al-nafs purification of reason and soul in modern Islamic education.
