Abstract

Many children only want to eat the foods they like, such as sweet, salty, or high-carbohydrate foods, while vegetables and fruits are often ignored. This unbalanced diet can lead to children lacking essential nutrients needed to maintain immunity and optimal growth. "Isi Piringku" is a government program aimed at raising public awareness about balanced nutrition and healthy eating patterns. The activity aims to improve students' understanding in Desa Karang Bunga regarding the importance of a balanced diet through the "Isi Piringku" education program. This activity, conducted on June 27, 2024, utilized presentation media, demonstrations, and evaluations to measure the increase in knowledge and satisfaction. During the activity, students received explanations about the introduction of "Isi Piringku" in arranging a balanced diet, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, fruits, and vegetables, and demonstrations were conducted. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition, and satisfaction evaluations indicated positive responses from Desa Karang Bunga.

Abstract

This article aims to reduce the environmental impact of non-domestic waste by exploring various recycling and repurposing methods. It focuses on utilizing non-domestic waste as a base material for making kokedama, a Japanese planting technique that combines art and sustainability. The non-domestic waste selected includes industrial by-products such as coconut husks, used paper, and wood. The methodology involves collecting non-domestic waste from local communities, processing it into kokedama planting media, and providing training to the community on kokedama techniques. This training program is designed to enhance technical skills and environmental awareness among participants while creating new economic opportunities through the production and sale of kokedama. Research findings indicate that the training not only reduces waste volume but also empowers community members with new skills and increases their potential income. Active participation in the kokedama production process helps improve economic and social well-being and strengthens the sense of ownership towards environmental sustainability efforts. The study concludes that utilizing non-domestic waste in kokedama not only reduces waste volume but also offers an innovative and sustainable alternative in urban agriculture practices and has the potential to raise awareness about recycling

Abstract

Plososari Village in Grati Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency has abundant natural resources, especially in cassava production. Cassava grows well on the community's farmland, resulting in an abundant harvest every year. However, although the potential of cassava in this village is huge, its utilization is still far from optimal. Most people only sell cassava in its raw form at a relatively low price, so its economic value has not been fully maximized. Nevertheless, the community in this village has sufficient ability and skills to process cassava into more valuable products, such as chips, samiler, or other processed products that have a higher selling value. However, limited access to knowledge about cassava processing and marketing strategies is one of the main challenges faced. Therefore, this activity aims to increase the added value of cassava products through training in innovative packaging design and marketing strategy development. With the hope that it can positively impact the economic welfare of the village community

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze how the potential and methods of economic empowerment based on the Jami' Al-Umari Kelayu Mosque, East Lombok, NTB, in fighting loan sharks in the community. This study uses qualitative research using this approach to match empirical reality with applicable theories. The results of the study indicate that with the programs carried out by the mosque and the existing potential, this can provide or contribute to reducing and raising public awareness of the dangers of usury practices themselves. Because the practice carried out in the community is to provide financing to people who have businesses and need capital to develop their businesses themselves. The mosque provides loans with a qardhul hasan contract so that borrowers do not need to provide profit sharing and only return the capital they borrowed.

Abstract

Plasticis is one of the objects that is necessary in daily activities. This is because plastics makes it easier for humans to package goods. Its elastic and easy-to-use properties make plastic widely used by humans. However, on the other hand, plastic has properties that are difficult to decompose (non-degradable) so it is one of the biggest generators of waste that pollutes the environment. Biodegradable plastic or commonly called bioplastic can be an alternative product to reduce plastic waste because it is easily decomposed and more environmentally friendly. This research examines the influence of the type of starch (avocado seed flour, manga seed flour, banana peel flour, cassava peel flour) and plasticizers (glycerol, sorbitol, and polyvinyl alcohol) with beeswax additives on the characteristics of the resulting bioplastic. The best tensile strength value was found in a sample of mango seed flour, PVA type plasticizer, 0.04 gram beeswax, namely 11.35 MPa. The best elongation value was found in samples of mango seed flour, glycerol type plasticizer, 0.04 gram beeswax, namely 67%. The best percentage degradation value is bioplastic using cassava peel starch. The best swelling index value was found in samples of avocado seed flour, sorbitol type plasticizer, 0.1 gram beeswax, namely 20.16%. In terms of water content values, all samples are in accordance with SNI, namely below 20%.

Abstract

Water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) is an aquatic plant that grows very quickly in Indonesian waters and is classified as an invasive weed, so it can cause ecological problems. Water hyacinth stems have a high cellulose content of 28-39%. Extraction of cellulose from water hyacinth needs to be done to remove lignin content. The microwave delignification method has the advantage of a rapid increase in temperature so that the extract yield is greater. This study aims to determine the optimal operating conditions in the delignification process of water hyacinth stems using the Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE) method by examining the process variables: extraction time (5,10,15 minutes) and microwave power (400, 5000 and 600 watts). Based on the results of the study, the optimal operating conditions at a transmission time of 11.5 minutes and a transmission power of 530.5 watts, which were obtained in 20.25% of water hyacinth stems.

Abstract

Black tea theaflavins contain high antioxidants that can be protective agents against SARS-CoV-2. The relatively good process conditions in spray drying are predicted to be able to protect and maintain the storage stability of theaflavin bioactive compounds by encapsulation. Therefore, this study aims to obtain optimum process conditions in spray drying black tea theaflavin extract. The analyzed data were interpreted using response surface methodology (RSM) with the independent variables used including spray drying inlet air temperature (100 oC, 120 oC, 140 oC) and extract to maltodextrin ratio (1:0.40; 1:0.80; 1:1.20 (v/v)). The resulting black tea powder was analyzed for theaflavin content by UV-Vis spectrophotometer (380 nm), moisture content by moisture analyzer, particle size by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and yield. The optimum condition was reached at an inlet air temperature of 116oC and a ratio of black tea extract to maltodextrin 1:0.6627 (v/v) which resulted in R-square for yield, moisture content, and theaflavin content of 0.8946; 0.8016; 0.9324 respectively. The best theaflavin storage stability results were achieved in the seventh experiment with operating conditions of inlet air temperature 120oC and extract to maltodextrin ratio 1:0.23431 (v/v), obtained theaflavin content ranged from 0.37125% - 0.52650% from day 0 to day 30.
