Abstract

This study examines how a love-based curriculum is institutionalized within Islamic education management to develop a humanistic school culture. The research addresses the persistent gap between value-based educational leadership discourse and its practical implementation in institutional management, particularly in faith-based schooling contexts. This research employed a qualitative interpretive case study design conducted at MAN Kotawaringin Timur, Indonesia. Data were collected from 24 participants, including school leaders, teachers, staff members, students, and a school committee representative, through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and analysis of institutional documents. Data were analyzed using iterative thematic coding to identify patterns of value integration across management practices. The findings reveal that the love-based curriculum functions not only as a pedagogical approach but also as an organizational governance framework embedded in four interconnected managerial dimensions: value-oriented strategic planning, empathetic-participatory leadership, dialogical learning practices, and continuous character-oriented evaluation. These dimensions collectively form an integrative Islamic education management model that transforms ethical values into institutional drivers shaping relational trust, psychological safety, and student social-religious engagement. Theoretically, this study contributes to value-based educational leadership and school culture research by conceptualizing love as an institutional governance mechanism within Islamic educational management.

Abstract

This study examines gender bias in elementary school Islamic Religious Education (IRE) textbooks under Indonesia’s Merdeka Curriculum. Although gender representation in textbooks has been widely studied, research integrating Critical Discourse Analysis with Islamic feminist perspectives in the context of religious education remains limited. This study aims to identify forms of gender bias, analyze the discursive strategies that reproduce them, and interpret their implications for the construction of religious authority. The research employed qualitative document analysis using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). Data were collected from 214 textual units and 96 visual illustrations in elementary-level IRE textbooks, complemented by semi-structured interviews with four Islamic education teachers in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan. The analysis focused on actor representation, distribution of social roles, grammatical structures, and the construction of religious leadership. The findings reveal a significant gender imbalance. Men appear as 61.7% of the main subjects and dominate 78.8% of religious leadership roles. Male characters are more frequently associated with active grammatical structures (68.2%), while women appear more often in passive constructions and domestic activities (67.8%). These patterns contribute to what this study conceptualizes as the masculinization of religious authority, where religious leadership and moral authority are discursively associated with male figures. Teacher interviews indicate awareness of this imbalance, although textbooks still strongly influence students’ perceptions of gender roles. The findings highlight the need for gender-responsive revisions of religious education materials to promote more inclusive representations.

Abstract

Background: Studies on the Islamization of knowledge have been widely developed within Islamic education, particularly in relation to epistemological and pedagogical frameworks. However, empirical research examining how Islamic values are integrated into the management practices of government bureaucracy remains relatively limited, especially from the perspective of Islamic educational management. Purpose: This study aims to analyse how Islamic values in knowledge are integrated into the management of the civil service (ASN) from the perspective of Islamic education management in East Kotawaringin Regency. Method: This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with civil servants, observations of organizational activities, and analysis of policy documents related to ASN management. The data were analysed thematically through the processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings: The findings reveal that the integration of Islamic values in ASN management is reflected in leadership practices emphasizing trustworthiness and responsibility, the development of civil servant competencies based on Islamic work ethics, and the formation of organizational culture through spiritual guidance activities in the workplace. However, the internalization of religious values within bureaucratic governance remains largely normative and has not been fully institutionalized in organizational management mechanisms such as performance evaluation systems, organizational regulations, and bureaucratic accountability frameworks. These findings indicate a gap between the discourse of religious values in bureaucratic leadership and their structural implementation in governance systems.

Abstract

Abstract

Hadiths concerning conjuring or ruqyah constitute a significant theme in hadith studies, particularly regarding issues of authenticity in both isnād and matn. Divergent perspectives between classical and modern scholars on the validity of these traditions underscore the necessity for a more nuanced and critical analysis. This study investigates the origin and transmission of the jampi-jampi (incantation) hadiths using the isnād-cum-matn analytical framework pioneered by Harald Motzki. Employing a qualitative methodology through literature-based research, data were sourced from canonical hadith collections such as Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, and Sunan Abī Dāwūd, along with contemporary scholarship in hadith criticism. Through descriptive-analytical techniques, this study maps the transmission chains (asānīd), evaluates narrator reliability, and compares textual variants of the matn. The findings reveal that while variations exist in wording, the jampi-jampi hadiths possess multiple strong lines of transmission. Motzki’s method proves instrumental in uncovering the historical strata of hadith development, demonstrating that the majority of ruqyah-related traditions can be traced reliably to the generation of the tābi‘īn. This study contributes to the field of hadith methodology by reinforcing the importance of integrated textual and transmission analysis and offers deeper contextual insight into the normative role of ruqyah within Muslim religious practice.[Hadis-hadis tentang jampi atau ruqyah merupakan tema penting dalam studi hadis, khususnya dalam hal keotentikan baik dari sisi sanad maupun matan.
