Abstract

Abstract:Curriculum transformation that harmonizes the development of hard and soft skills is a strategic step in preparing individuals to face the demands of the global workforce. Hard skills, such as technical and analytical abilities, are needed to master specific jobs, while soft skills, such as communication, teamwork and adaptability, are key to success in a dynamic and collaborative work environment. This research aims to explore the principles, challenges and strategies of curriculum transformation that can integrate both types of skills in a balanced way. Through literature analysis and case studies, it was found that collaboration between educational institutions, industry and society is essential in creating a relevant and applicable curriculum. This transformational curriculum produces graduates who are not only technically competent, but also have strong interpersonal skills, making them ready to compete in the global job market. The results of this study contribute to the development of an inclusive and sustainable education model.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the challenges and opportunities faced by Islamic boarding schools in facing the communication crisis in the digital era, as well as how Islamic boarding schools can adapt digital technology in their education and preaching. The method used is a qualitative approach with case studies in several Islamic boarding schools representing various levels of technology adoption. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews with Islamic boarding school administrators, ustaz and Islamic boarding school students, as well as direct observation of activities in Islamic boarding schools and analysis of digital documentation such as social media and preaching videos. The collected data was then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify main themes regarding the use of technology, communication challenges and strategies implemented by Islamic boarding schools. The research results show that Islamic boarding schools face difficulties in adopting technology due to limited resources and digital skills, but also find opportunities to expand the reach of da'wah and education through digital media. This research suggests that Islamic boarding schools improve the digital skills of managers and students, and utilize technology effectively without reducing the traditional values taught. These findings provide recommendations for developing digital communication in Islamic boarding schools so that they remain relevant in the digital era.

Abstract

This research explores leadership strategies in Islamic boarding school education management in the digital era, with a focus on the Darussalam Blokagung Islamic Boarding School. Researchers use Everett Rogers' (1962) Innovation Adoption theory. Because the theory is comprehensive and relevant for understanding the implementation of technology in Islamic boarding schools in the digital era. By understanding this theory, Islamic boarding school leaders can develop effective strategies for implementing technology and improving the quality of learning in Islamic boarding schools. A qualitative case study approach was used to understand the unique Islamic boarding school context and its challenges in integrating technology. Research findings show that the implementation of technology in Islamic boarding school education presents challenges and opportunities. The main challenges are the lack of adequate technological infrastructure, high implementation costs, and socio-cultural impacts. However, technology also offers opportunities to improve the quality of learning, such as developing relevant curricula, implementing learning methods that utilize technology, increasing student engagement, and preparing students to face global demands. Effective leadership strategies in managing Islamic boarding school education in the digital era include the use of technology, building a culture of collaboration between staff, students and parents, as well as evaluating and monitoring the progress of technology implementation. Implementing these strategies can help Islamic boarding schools to improve the quality of education, prepare students for the future, and preserve the Islamic values and identity of Islamic boarding schools in the digital era.

Abstract

This study explores the emergence of servant leadership as a transformative model in the context of Islamic educational leadership at the Darussalam Blokagung Islamic Boarding School. Guided by Greenleaf's servant leadership theory and integrated with Islamic leadership values (khidmah, amanah, and ukhuwah), this study analyzes how traditional authoritative leadership has evolved into a participatory and human-centered model that aligns with the moral and spiritual ethos of the Islamic boarding school. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven key informants (including kiai, teachers, and students), participant observation, and document analysis over a six-month period. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of change and meaning construction, while triangulation ensured contextual validity and depth. The findings reveal three main themes: (1) Transformation of leadership style from an authoritarian model to servant leadership; (2) Internalization of Service Values in Student Development; and (3 Changes in the Organizational Culture of Islamic Boarding Schools to be More Inclusive and Participatory. This transformation not only enriches the theory of servant leadership in Islamic education, but also offers practical insights for educational leaders and policy makers in designing leadership training and institutional reforms that are responsive to contemporary challenges.

Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the key components to mastering English. The school is a place where EFL students could start learning English. This study aimed to find out whether or not the word association recitation could enhance vocabulary acquisition among beginner-level EFL students at an Islamic junior high school. This quantitative study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design to investigate the effectiveness of the word association recitation technique in improving vocabulary acquisition among seventh-grade students at an Islamic junior high school. Conducted over two cycles between October and November 2024, each cycle consisted of three instructional sessions. A purposive sampling method was used to select Class 7A (N = 143), which consisted of students with varied levels of prior English exposure. The results indicated significant improvement in classroom engagement, with attention increasing from 46% to 67%, participation from 47% to 71%, and positive attitudes from 57% to 74%. Notably, post-test scores rose by 46.7%, from an average of 49.23 to 72.23, with substantial gains among lower-proficiency learners (up to 122% improvement). A paired samples t-test revealed a statistically significant difference between pre- and post-intervention scores (p = .000), confirming the positive impact of the technique on vocabulary learning. Future research is encouraged to explore the integration of communicative tasks, test the approach across broader EFL contexts, and incorporate digital tools to enhance vocabulary practice.
