Abstract

Pelaksanaan pembelajaran di sekolah dasar idealnya melibatkan siswa secara aktif dalam membangun pemahaman, mengemukakan ide, berdiskusi, menjelaskan, dan menciptakan produk pembelajaran. Namun dalam praktiknya, proses pembelajaran masih sering didominasi oleh guru, sehingga siswa menjadi pasif dan kesulitan memahami konsep abstrak, termasuk materi gaya dan gerak. Untuk mendukung pembelajaran yang aktif dan bermakna, guru kelas IV di SDN 2 Pusakasari mengimplementasikan model RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) yang dipadukan dengan asesmen portofolio sebagai alat penilaian proses. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana peran asesmen portofolio dalam mendukung implementasi model RADEC , serta mengidentifikasi tantangan dan daya tariknya dalam pembelajaran IPA. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian implementasi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi portofolio siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa portofolio asesmen mendukung setiap tahapan pembelajaran RADEC dengan mendokumentasikan proses dan produk belajar siswa secara autentik. Tantangan yang muncul mencakup keterbatasan literasi awal dan partisipasi siswa, namun portofolio membantu guru memadukan perkembangan dan mendorong refleksi belajar siswa secara berkelanjutan. Abstract

This study aims to improve elementary school students' systems thinking skills through sustainable development-oriented learning. This research method uses an experiment with a quantitative approach to test the effectiveness of developing elementary school students' systems thinking skills. The learning prepare expressly employments the STEL (System Thinking & ESD Learning) learning show which is taken after by 19 basic school understudies in Tasikmalaya City, West Java. The instrument used is an essay test consisting of 8 questions with an assessment rubric made on a scale of 1-3, then the value processing is converted into a maximum score of 100 so that it is easier to analyze the value of elementary school students' systems thinking skills. Information collection was carried out some time recently and after the execution of learning utilizing the STEL model. Generally, the comes about of the pretest-posttest think about of students' systems thinking abilities experienced an insignificant increment. These results provide an overview that elementary school students' systems thinking skills can be developed, only the pretest results of 37.47 and posttest of 49.89 certainly show the results of an increase in students' systems thinking. An important note from the results of this study provides information that systems thinking skills can be developed gradually and sustainably. The learning process through the STEL learning model will prepare understudies to discover the center of environmental issues efficiently and empower understudies to pay more consideration to the affect of each of their exercises and take more mindful activities as it were for environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze elementary school teacher’s perceptions of the use of This study investigates elementary teacher’s perceptions of STEM based performance assessment and examines how these perceptions vary between urban and rural school settings. The study adopts a descriptive mixed methods design in which quantitative survey findings serve as the main source of analysis and qualitative input is used to clarify contextual differences across geographical locations. A total of 52 teachers completed a 12 item questionnaire measuring awareness, familiarity, and fluency, followed by short interviews with a purposive sample to explore the reasons behind emerging patterns. The results show that all three aspects fall within the high category, indicating that teachers view STEM based performance assessment as valuable for supporting critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem solving. Fluency receives the highest mean score, suggesting that many teachers feel reasonably confident implementing STEM assessment, although the qualitative data reveal gaps in rubric design and project based assessment skills. The comparison across locations shows that rural teachers consistently report higher perceptions than urban teachers. Rural teachers describe more contextual and community oriented experiences, while urban teachers highlight administrative barriers and limited access to technical training. The findings underscore the need for professional development that is sensitive to geographical conditions and supports teachers in designing authentic, integrated STEM performance assessments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis etnosains dalam meningkatkan literasi sains siswa sekolah dasar melalui konteks pembuatan gula merah sebagai bagian dari budaya lokal. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah 31 peserta didik kelas IV dan V di SD Negeri 3 Sindangasih. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes literasi sains yang disusun berdasarkan indikator PISA 2018, dan data dianalisis menggunakan pemodelan Rasch dengan teknik racking dan stacking. Hasil analisis racking menunjukkan bahwa seluruh butir soal mengalami penurunan tingkat kesulitan pada posttest, yang menunjukkan perubahan positif. Sementara itu, hasil stacking diperoleh nilai rata-rata pretest 0,90 logit dan nilai rata-rata posttest 2,46 logit. Kemudian diperoleh nilai prob 0,000 dimana 0,000 < 0,05 maka terdapat peningkatan signifikan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran etnosains efektif dalam meningkatkan penguasaan konsep sains dan menjadikan pembelajaran lebih bermakna. Oleh karena itu, pendekatan etnosains dapat dijadikan strategi pembelajaran alternatif yang mampu mendukung penguatan literasi sains di sekolah dasar, khususnya melalui pemanfaatan potensi budaya lokal yang relevan dengan kehidupan peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with ethnoscience in improving elementary school students’ scientific literacy. The research employed a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants were 31 fourth-grade students from SDN 1 Cintaratu and SDN 1 Cintajaya. Data were collected through a scientific literacy test covering three main indicators: explaining scientific phenomena, designing and evaluating scientific investigations, and interpreting and using scientific information for decision-making. The findings revealed an increase in the average score from 65.68 (pretest) to 84.29 (posttest), with a moderate improvement category based on the N-gain analysis. Normality and homogeneity tests confirmed that the data met the requirements for parametric analysis. The paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. It is concluded that the application of the PBL model integrated with ethnoscience is effective in enhancing students’ scientific literacy, providing meaningful learning experiences that are contextual and relevant to local wisdom.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited availability of contextual and culturally relevant learning resources in elementary science education, particularly for teaching ecosystem concepts that are often perceived as abstract by students. The lack of integration between scientific concepts, local wisdom, and interactive digital media has contributed to passive learning practices and low conceptual understanding. This research aims to develop an interactive e-module based on ethnoscience by integrating the local wisdom of Tri Tangtu Kampung Naga as a learning resource for ecosystem topics in elementary schools. The study employed a Design-Based Research (DBR) methodology, which involved iterative stages of problem analysis, design and development of the e-module, implementation in real classroom settings, evaluation, and refinement. The research was conducted with fifth-grade elementary school students and involved expert validation as well as user practicality testing by teachers and students. The results indicate that the developed ethnoscience-based interactive e-module is valid, practical, and suitable for use as a learning resource. The integration of Tri Tangtu Kampung Naga successfully contextualized ecosystem concepts, enhanced student engagement, and supported meaningful learning experiences. These findings suggest that interactive e-modules integrating local wisdom can serve as effective instructional media to improve conceptual understanding while fostering environmental awareness and cultural appreciation among elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate ICT-based interactive PowerPoint media focused on the topic of types of waste and waste management for use in primary school learning. The purpose of the development was to provide teachers with effective instructional tools and to foster student engagement and understanding of environmental science content. The development process followed the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The Define stage included a needs analysis through classroom observation and media usage evaluation. During the Design and Develop stages, an interactive PowerPoint was created, incorporating text, audio, video, and interactive quizzes. Expert validation was conducted involving four experts: a subject matter expert, instructional design expert, media communication expert, and an end-user (classroom teacher). Validation results indicated that the media was highly valid, with expert scores ranging from 86.67% to 90%. Student responses were also positive, with a satisfaction score of 86.66%, demonstrating high levels of interest and motivation during the learning process. The media successfully delivered educational content on classifying and managing waste in a visually appealing and accessible manner, allowing students to engage in independent learning with embedded navigation instructions. In conclusion, the developed ICT-based interactive PowerPoint media is considered valid and effective for elementary education and is recommended for broader classroom implementation to enhance environmental literacy and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and assess the feasibility of a creative thinking skills test instrument for fifth-grade elementary school students. The instrument was constructed based on four core indicators of creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration, and consists of eight essay-type items. A quantitative approach with a descriptive method was employed in this research. The instrument trial was conducted with 41 fifth-grade students from an elementary school in Ciamis Regency during the 2024/2025 academic year. The instrument was evaluated through content and construct validity analysis, reliability testing, item discrimination, and difficulty level analysis. The results of the validity test showed that all items were valid, with r calculated values exceeding the r table (0.3081). Reliability testing using Cronbach’s Alpha yielded a coefficient categorized as moderate, indicating sufficient internal consistency. The item discrimination analysis revealed that most items were in the good and acceptable categories, although two items required revision or replacement. In terms of difficulty level, seven items were classified as moderate and one as easy. These findings suggest that the developed instrument possesses adequate psychometric properties and is suitable for measuring elementary students’ creative thinking skills. Furthermore, it offers potential as an alternative assessment tool for evaluating higher-order thinking skills in primary education contexts.

Abstract

Miskonsepsi merupakan ketidaksesuaian konsep yang dipahami dengan konsep yang sebenarnya, sehingga menyebabkan kekeliruan pada pemahaman konsep peserta didik. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh penemuan yang menunjukkan adanya miskonsepsi pada peserta didik di Sekolah Dasar. Hal ini didukung oleh hasil survery dari PISA dan TIMSS yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan literasi sains di Indonesia masih tergolong rendah. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah karena adanya miskonsepsi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat kategori miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh peserta didik kelas VI, sekaligus faktor-faktor yang menjadi penyebab munculnya miskonsepsi pada materi sistem peredaran darah manusia. Metode peneltian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa miskonsepsi yang dialami oleh peserta didik kelas VI pada materi sistem peredaran darah manusia termasuk kategori sedang yaitu sebesar 40% pada materi ciri-ciri pembuluh darah arteri dan 40% pada materi proses peredaran darah besar dan peredaran darah kecil. Beberapa faktor yang menjadi penyebab terjadinya miskonsepsi adalah karena konteks, penggunaan bahasa yang jarang diengar oleh peserta didik dan materi yang abstrak membuat peserta didik kesulitan memperoleh gambaran dari materi yang dipelajari. Selain itu penggunaan metode dan media pembelajaran yang kurang sesuai membuat pembelajaran menjadi kurang maksimal.)

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping a generation capable of addressing global challenges, including environmental issues such as waste management. This study aims to analyze the need for the development of an electronic module (e-module) based on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in elementary school science (IPAS) lessons, particularly in the topic of waste management using the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The ESD approach is considered essential to instill environmental sustainability awareness from an early age. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method conducted in two elementary schools in Tasikmalaya City: SDN Panglayungan and SDN Galunggung, involving fifth-grade teachers and students as subjects. Data collection techniques included document analysis of teaching materials and in-depth interviews with teachers to identify the availability, use, and need for ESD-based learning resources. The findings reveal that while digital learning facilities are adequately available, teachers’ understanding of the ESD approach and the availability of interactive e-modules remain limited. Therefore, the development of engaging, interactive, and contextual ESD-based e-modules is urgently needed to enhance learning quality and embed sustainability values in students.
