Abstract

Kata kunci: Sawit, Karet, Fermenter, Pupuk Cair ABSTRACT Jambi Province has a significant role in the plantation sector because it has several superior commodities such as oil palm and rubber plantations. In 2016, Bungo District had rubber plantations covering 98.220 hectares and oil palm plantations 97.630 hectares. The simultaneous use of land in oil palm plantations will reduce the quality of the soil, thus having an impact on the quality of the palms produced. Usually, synthetic fertilizers use to increase production yields. The continued use of synthetic fertilizers will harm the soil and the environment, so that community skills are needed to produce natural-based (organic) fertilizers by utilizing agricultural waste. The Karya Mukti cooperative reports that rubber seeds are agriculture waste that has not to use appropriately. Rubber seeds are known to have local microorganisms that are probiotic as a fermenter in the fermentation reaction to produce organic fertilizer. Community service in processing this potential is needed to apply appropriate technology for farmers and to apply an organic farming system to create quality and healthy agricultural products and to create one of the environmentally friendly liquid organic fertilizers. This program aims to provide training and competence to the community in processing plantation waste to produce liquid organic fertilizer, which uses the decomposer to improve the quality of plantation products and also improve community skills to make quality and competitive products. Abstract

This study aims to examine the quality of cooking coconut oil (CCO) and virgin coconut oil (VCO). The analysis was carried out as a physical parameter test including organoleptic and density while the chemical parameter test was: free fatty acid (FFA) peroxide number and test of saponification number. The sample oil used comes from coconut oil made traditionally by virgin coconut oil or commonly abbreviated as VCO, which is coconut oil which passes through a different extraction process with ordinary coconut oil so it is believed to have higher quality and provide more benefits. Samples derived from coconut oil traditionally processed in Beji Village, Boyolangu District with the brand "MALIKA". It was found that both oils had relatively the same physical parameters, the difference in density on VCO and CCO: 0.88 g / ml and 0.82 g / ml. As for the chemical parameters of free fatty acids, peroxide numbers, and saponification numbers of the VCO and CCO comparisons: 0.165: 0.207; 0.54: 0.68; 203: 321, so that the overall VCO has good quality, while CCO has an unfavorable saponification number.

Abstract

Mangrove plants are one of the most extensive biodiversity in Jambi. Besides functioning as a coastal ecosystem protector, it also has any potential of its chemical content. The study of mangrove’s bioactive compound is important to generate a new therapeutic agent. This study aims to obtain chemical compounds that have cytotoxic activity, reveal the chemical formula and molecular structure of that active compound, and determine the cytotoxic activity level of active compound from perepat (Sonneratia alba) root extract. The extract was isolated and purified using Liquid Vacuum Chromatography, Graphitation Column Chromatography, and Thin Layer Chromatography. The isolate was characterized using FT-IR spectrophotometry. Our result found that it corresponds to the β-sitosterol compound group with a high similarly chromophore. Furthermore, both of the extract and isolate was tested for toxicity activity using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method using Artemia salina shrimp larvae. Herein, we reported that acetone isolated extract possesses lower cell death average 100% (start 200 μg/ml) than isolate extract 80% (50μg/ml). Furthermore the toxicity of total extract has LC50 23,98 (μg/ml), while Isolate 10,04 (μg/ml). From the LC50 value, it can be concluded that the toxicity of the extract lower than the isolate, and both were classified as very toxic compounds, and very potential to be developed into anti-cancer drug compounds.

Abstract

Infection is the process of entering and reproducing microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites that cause tissue injury. Some of the common types of bacteria that play a role in wound infection are Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus epidermis. The antibacterial able to inhibit bacterial growth by inhibiting cell wall biosynthesis, increasing the permeability of the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane, and interfering with the normal bacterial protein synthesis. The aim of this review article is to conduct a study of nanocellulose as an antibacterial hydrogel conjugate. The method used is to summarize information from various recent journals related to nanocellulose, nanocellulose modification, nanocellulose-based hydrogels, and their application as antibacterial. Some journals from primary sources such as the PMC system (PubMed Central), National Library of Medicine (NIH), Science Direct, Elsevier, Nature, ACS Chemical Society, and several other sources. Nanocellulose consists of β-1, 4-glucose, and there are three hydroxyls active at the C2, C3, and C6 positions of the pyranose attachment. Nanocellulose can respond by the reaction of oxidation, esterification, or etherification, by adding a new functional group. Nanocellulose can become nanocellulose nanocrystals (CNC), cellulose nanofibers (NFC), and nanocellulose bacteria (BNC). Nanocellulose formulated in the form of hydrogels and combined with antibiotics will increase the effectiveness in reducing the risk of infection that is resistant to antibiotics.

Abstract

Abroma augusta is a bush plant that lives on the edge of the river. This plant is commonly used as an anti-inflammatory drug for joints and broken bones. It contains several secondary metabolites, such as alkaloids, triterpenoids, steroids, and flavonoids, which exhibit anti-inflammatory activity. UV-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry of isolate 1.3 indicated absorption at a maximum wavelength of 282 nm. The wavelength suggested that the electron transition π–π* is the absorption of UV spectra typical for triterpenoid compounds that have chromophores in the form of non-conjugated double bonds. FT-IR spectrophotometer characterization data from isolate 1.3 revealed the presence of triterpenoid compounds having carboxyl groups C-O (ester), C-(CH3)2 (gem-dimethyl), carbonyl C = O esters, and C-H (alkyl). Analyses of UV-Vis, FT-IR, GC-MS, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR spectra showed that the compound obtained was the triterpenoid β-amyrin. Activity test demonstrated that isolate 1.3 with a 10 mg dose showed stronger anti-inflammatory activity than the positive control of sodium diclofenac.
