Abstract

School and classroom are not merely educational spaces but act as dynamic arenas where social structures are reproduced and contested. While schools are expected to promote equality, sociological perspectives reveal their latent role in sustaining social inequalities. This study aims to explore how classrooms function as sites of social integration, reproduction of inequality, and identity formation. Using a qualitative library research method, this paper analyzes theories from Durkheim, Bourdieu, Foucault, Mead, and others to examine classroom dynamics. Findings show that education often legitimizes dominant cultural capital, perpetuates labeling practices, and imposes subtle disciplinary power. Classrooms become microcosms of society where power, norms, and ideologies are constructed and negotiated. The study concludes that critical awareness among educators and policymakers is vital to transform classrooms into inclusive and democratic spaces. Future studies should empirically investigate strategies that resist structural inequality within educational institutions.

Abstract

This research explores the role of logic in the understanding of truth in educational settings, using a hermeneutical-philosophical approach. Logic, as a rational thinking tool, serves to develop students' critical and analytical thinking abilities, while science, through empirical methods, provides an evidence-based framework that supports the understanding of truth. However, the application of logic is often limited to theoretical aspects without a practical context, and science education tends to emphasise memorisation over process exploration. This paper proposes the integration of logic and science through an integrated curriculum, project-based approaches and the use of technology to create a holistic education that supports students' character and critical reasoning. This integration creates harmony between rationality and local values, relevant for 21st century education that respects cultural diversity. This research highlights the challenges of creating an inclusive yet value-based education and offers practical recommendations to improve the relevance of logic in learning.

Abstract

This study examines the humanistic approach in Arabic language learning through the perspective of a love-based curriculum as an alternative paradigm that is more holistic, meaningful, and humane. The humanistic approach positions students as subjects with a natural potential to develop optimally, integrating the principles of Western humanistic psychology with Islamic educational values (tarbiyah). This research employed library research methodology using a descriptive-analytical approach. Data and data sources consisted of literature on Arabic language teaching methodology (ṭuruq tadrīs al-lughah al-'arabiyyah), as well as secondary sources including accredited international and national journals, conference proceedings, previous research findings, and scientific articles discussing related themes. Data collection technique used documentation by reading, identifying, classifying, and analyzing relevant literature through purposive sampling based on criteria of relevance, source credibility, and contribution to research concept development. Data analysis employed content analysis with a hermeneutic approach to understand the deep meaning of various concepts studied, involving data reduction, thematic categorization, interpretation through comparison of theoretical perspectives, and source triangulation for validation. The findings indicate that the humanistic approach through a love-based curriculum offers fundamental solutions to Arabic language-learning problems by fostering a supportive psychological environment, reducing language anxiety, increasing intrinsic motivation, and developing communicative competence holistically. This approach not only produces linguistically competent graduates but also individuals with noble character, deep love for the Arabic language, and commitment to lifelong learning.

Abstract

Background: Arabic vocabulary instruction in Islamic elementary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) is often hindered by low student motivation and a reliance on rote memorization, which is particularly ineffective for concrete themes like diseases (al-amrāḍ). This highlights a critical need for developmentally appropriate visual media. Aims: This research aims to: (1) design thematic flashcard media on al-amrāḍ for third-grade students, (2) evaluate the media's validity through expert judgment, and (3) assess its practicality and impact on student engagement. Methods: Employing a Research and Development (R&D) framework, this study utilized the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). The process began with a needs analysis through observation and interviews, followed by the design and validation of flashcards by experts in Arabic language education, media, and linguistics. A limited trial with 22 third-grade students at MI Miftahul Akhlaqiyah, Semarang, was conducted to evaluate practicality and student perceptions through observation and response questionnaires. Results: The flashcards achieved high validity scores from experts: 88% (content), 83% (linguistics), and 75% (media). Student responses were exceptionally positive, with an overall practicality rating of 95%, particularly appreciating the visual appeal, ease of use, and increased motivation. The findings indicate that the flashcards effectively facilitate vocabulary acquisition by creating clear visual-lexical connections. Implications: The al-amrāḍ flashcards are a valid and practical learning medium that effectively addresses pedagogical gaps in elementary Arabic instruction. This research underscores the importance of integrating visual design with linguistic accuracy for young learners. Practically, the flashcards offer an engaging, interactive alternative to traditional methods. Theoretically, it contributes to the discourse on multimedia design for early language acquisition within religious education contexts.

Abstract

The high urgency of mastering Arabic, especially mufrodat, in Fadhlul Fadhlan Islamic Boarding School encourages systematic efforts in the learning process. The Tikror method, with an emphasis on intensive repetition, is believed to be a key strategy to strengthen the memorization and application of mufrodat in the daily interactions of the students. This study aims to evaluate the vocabulary learning program through the tikror method at Pondok Pesantren Fadhlul Fadhlan Semarang. Vocabulary learning is a key component in Arabic language instruction, designed to enrich students' vocabulary and improve their understanding of the language. The tikror method, which focuses on word repetition, is expected to help students effectively memorize and comprehend vocabulary. This research employs a qualitative approach, with the subjects being teachers and students at Pondok Pesantren Fadhlul Fadhlan Semarang. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted using Miles and Huberman's model with data collection, data reduction, and conclusions. The findings show that the application of the tikror method is effective in improving students' ability to memorize and understand vocabulary. Repeating words during lessons helps students better retain the vocabulary taught. However, some challenges were found, such as a lack of variation in repetition techniques and limited time for optimal repetition. Despite these challenges, the tikror method has a positive effect on students' motivation to learn Arabic. Therefore, it is recommended that the tikror method be improved and combined with other teaching methods to enhance the effectiveness of vocabulary learning at this pesantren.
