Abstract

Plastic pollution has become pervasive in aquatic environments, emerging as a significant ecological concern over the past decade. Plastic debris varies in size, from large fragments to microplastics—particles less than 5 mm in diameter—that result from the primary (manufacturing production) and secondary (degradation from larger plastics) sources. In aquaculture systems, these microplastics can accumulate in both the environment and within aquatic organisms, as their decomposition is a prolonged process. The persistence of microplastics poses risks to biota, including potential physical harm and chemical exposure. This review discusses current research on the presence and impact of microplastics in aquaculture, highlighting the negative effects observed. The findings indicate that microplastics represent an escalating threat to aquaculture systems, necessitating periodic monitoring and the standardisation of analytical methods to manage and mitigate their impact effectively.

The purpose of this study was to determine the magnitude of the influence of the principal's instructional leadership and school climate together on the quality of learning. The research approach used was quantitative. This type of research uses correlation research. The population of this study was 281 teachers and the research sample was 165 teachers. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. The data analysis techniques used in this study were descriptive data analysis, prerequisite tests including normality tests, multicollinearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests, linearity tests and hypothesis tests including simple and multiple linear regression. The results of the study showed that: (1) the correlation of the principal's instructional leadership on the quality of learning was 0.677. The influence of the principal's instructional leadership had a significant effect on the learning quality variable by 65.8%. (2) The correlation of school climate on the quality of learning was 0.672. The influence of school climate had a significant effect on the learning quality variable by 65.1%. (3) The significant influence of the principal's instructional leadership and school climate on the quality of learning with the equation Ŷ = 8.390 + 0.612 X1 + 0.488 X2. Then the correlation coefficient value r is 0.759. The result of the coefficient of determination of the influence of variables X1 and X2 on Y is 77.5%.

Abstract

Gross motor skills training on cognitive function in early primary schoolBackground: Low gross motor skills are associated with low physical activity in preschool and elementary school children. Children's gross motor skills are correlated with obesity and contribute to physical activity participation and physical, social, and cognitive growth. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of gross motor skills training intervention on the cognitive function of early elementary school children. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest with a control design. The study involved first-year children from two elementary schools in Pleret, Bantul, DIY, with a total of 90 participants (49 boys, 41 girls) and a mean age of 7 years. The intervention consisted of motor skills training, including obstacle courses and walking on a balance beam, with each session lasting 15 minutes and conducted once a week for nine weeks. Cognitive function in terms of memory and attention abilities was assessed using the Stroop test (Stroop color and word test) and the digit span test (forward and backward)—data analysis using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test.Results: The study's results indicated a significant difference in the mean scores of the Stroop test for both the intervention and control groups and the digit span test for the intervention group. The findings suggested that motor skills training intervention significantly positively affected children's cognitive function, particularly with the Stroop test. Conclusions: Gross motor skill training can enhance the cognitive function of children aged 6-7. Motor skill instruction should be incorporated into preschool and early elementary school programs to help narrow the academic achievement gap.
