Abstract

This research aims to create a PjBL-STEM-based learning e-module that can improve student creativity and communication skills on motion and force materials. This research method uses Research and Development (R&D), ADDIE design which consists of 5 stages (Analiysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Class VII students were involved as research subjects taken with purposive sampling technique. Research data were collected through creativity test, performance test, student response questionnaire and observation sheet. Data processing techniques for the improvement of creative thinking and communication skills used paired sample t-test and then N-Gain test. The results of the analysis showed that after using the PjBL-STEM-based learning e-module there was a significant increase in creative thinking with an N-Gain value of 60% in the medium category and an N- Gain value of 61% for improving communication skills. Student testing of creative products based on display criteria, functional prototypes and technological accommodations fall into the good category. In addition, students gave a positive response to the learning e-module of 47.79% for very good criteria and 45.6% for good criteria. Thus, the PjBL-STEM-based learning e-module with Jigsaw strategy can be used in science learning in grade VII to improve students' creativity and communication skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the needs in the development of teaching materials on low carbon education, which is still rarely delivered at the VII grade secondary school level. This research uses the Mix Method. Quantitative data collection with a total of 100 respondents located in Bogor regency in the 2024/2025 academic year using assessment questions on the level of knowledge, low carbon competencies, and environmental care attitude questionnaire. Meanwhile, qualitative data were generated from observations of climate resilience based on the geographical location of the education unit. The results of this study show that students still need improvement in knowledge, low carbon competency, and environmental care attitude. The climate resilience analysis shows that the school conditions have the potential to implement learning that raises environmental issues to be used as topics in learning, and the use of social media. Therefore, the need for the development of teaching materials includes learning that contains videos or images, case studies with local issues, accompanied by group assignments that integrate social media as a medium for campaigns to protect the environment, so that it accommodates learning that forms an attitude of environmental care.

Abstract

STEM learning has increasingly been implemented in higher education, particularly in science education programs. In the aftermath of the global health crisis, the learning process has transitioned to a new normal, significantly different from pre-crisis practices. Numerous changes and challenges have emerged in science learning, particularly in fostering collaboration among prospective teachers in higher education. This research explores the nature of collaboration among prospective science teachers through the integration of STEM learning, employing a qualitative research method with in-depth observation as the primary data collection technique. Observations were conducted directly and supported by video recordings to ensure comprehensive data collection, with collaborative practices assessed using collaborative learning rubrics. The findings reveal that science education students have improved their collaboration skills through STEM learning integration, showing greater comfort in direct discussions and hands-on investigative learning activities, although some topics still require online discussions facilitated by e-learning platforms. Consequently, a blended learning approach is identified as the most effective method for integrating STEM learning in the current era to enhance collaboration in science education. Future research could further investigate the integration of STEM learning using hybrid learning models to promote collaboration among students.

Abstract

The idea of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is very developed lately. However, many people do not understand what, why and how ESD is. Therefore, the current article discusses obvious issue as an area for attention and related to ESD, why ESD should be, and how ESD is implemented in education, especially in science education, as well as efforts that can be made to make the implementation of ESD successful. This research is included in the parameters of the content analysis theme. This research-based paper uses literature review from various journals, articles and other text books. ESD is a new approach in the world of education. ESD consists of three dimensions, economic, social and environmental. ESD is incredibly important to apply in science learning for the success of the SDGs. There are several notable elements in the implementation of ESD in science in Indonesia, namely the government (P4TK IPA), Professional Associations such as the Indonesian Science Educators Association, Science Subject Teachers' Conferences, and Communities in the midst of society. Keywords: education for sustainable development (ESD), sustainable development goals (SDGs)

Abstract

Food waste contributes significantly to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reflects low sustainability awareness, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. This study aimed to assess the level of sustainability literacy, comprising knowledge, skills, and values, among vocational high school students in Bogor City within the context of food waste. Using a descriptive quantitative method with 125 respondents, data were collected through a 21-item questionnaire and were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings show that while students demonstrated good sustainability skills (76.95%) and values (73.63%), their sustainability knowledge was only fair (57.81%), indicating a cognitive-behavioral gap. Spearman's correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between sustainability knowledge and skills (ρ = 0.109, p = 0.226), reinforcing the need for holistic and integrative learning interventions. These results underscore the importance of developing interactive, value-driven educational media, such as e-books, to enhance students' environmental literacy and foster sustainable behavior. This preliminary study serves as a foundation for designing contextually relevant educational strategies to support food waste reduction and sustainability education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Food waste poses a serious environmental challenge that requires not only conceptual awareness but also practical sustainability competencies. This study aims to profile vocational high school students sustainability literacy in the skills domain of food waste education as a preliminary step toward developing interactive learning media. A total of 36 Grade X students in Bogor participated in a field trial using a prototype e-book entitled Awas Food Waste. Students were assigned to solve a contextual case, design digital posters, and present their solutions in class. Poster texts (365 words) were analyzed through word-frequency techniques, while oral presentations were assessed using a rubric adapted from Murray and Cotgrave. Results showed that frequently used terms indicated both problem recognition (e.g., sisamakanan [food leftovers], food waste, sampah [waste]) and proposed solutions (e.g., kompos [compost], maggot, organik [organic]). The presentation scores averaged 3.53 (median = 3; mode = 3), categorized as sufficientgood, with 22.2% of students achieving a very good level. These findings reveal that students are able to identify and communicate practical strategies to reduce food waste, although the depth and innovation of solutions remain limited. The study highlights a gap between awareness and applied action, underscoring the importance of scaffolding through interactive e-books and other digital media. This preliminary evidence serves as a baseline for designing pedagogically grounded interventions to strengthen vocational students sustainability skills and foster responsible environmental behavior

Abstract

This article aims to picture the environmental literacy of the pre-service science teachers at Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI). The highlighted environmental literacy consists of aspects of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of students related to environmental issues which are also part of the two themes of Educational for Sustainable Development (ESD), namely the theme of water and the theme of energy. Data were obtained through validated test items and questionnaire instruments. The results of this study obtained that students' environmental literacy was in the sufficient category, with an overall average percentage of environmental literacy for prospective science teacher students of 59.19. In addition, it was also obtained that the average percentage of environmental literacy of female students for the three aspects was higher than that of male students, although statistically it was concluded that there was no difference in environmental literacy of male students compared to female students. These results indicate that it is necessary to innovate lectures so that students' environmental literacy increases. One of the potential courses is Environmental Education which can be implemented on a project basis in accordance with the issues or themes in ESD.
