Abstract

Gadget addiction is often associated with poor social interaction skills, anxiety, and physical health. However, few studies have addressed the issue of gadget addiction in early childhood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate a family counseling model that internalizes values from ancient Javanese texts to reduce gadget addiction in early childhood. The ancient Javanese text used was Kakawin Sutasoma, which describes the meaningful journey of Prince Sutasoma. This study was an experiment with a single-subject ABA design. The results showed positive developments in all three cases. In Case 1, reducing gadget time resulted in improved social skills in the subjects. In Case 2, limiting gadget time resulted in improved sleep quality in the subjects. In Case 3, reducing gadget use combined with prosocial skills training reduced aggressive behavior and improved emotional regulation skills. Thus, it can be concluded that internalizing the values of Kakawin Sutasoma in family counseling is effective in reducing gadget use, thus impacting social skills in early childhood. Recommendations for future researchers include involving adequate samples and using experimental designs to increase the generalizability of the research results.

Abstract

Happiness is something that every individual desires. Happy Feelings Refer to well-being of mental health. Not students at school. High academics that are not in accordance with abilities and good self-management can lead to unhappy conditions. Happiness (happiness) is synonymous with the term emotional well-being (EWB). Emotional well-being (EWB) or emotional well-being is an individual's state consisting of life satisfaction and positive feelings. The problem that occurs is that students feel less happy when they are at school because they do not immediately take perspective on a situation. For example, feeling that school is a place full of burdens, school is a boring place, and so on. The reframing technique is one of the techniques of cognitive therapy that aims to reorganize the desired emotional content and direct/reframe it towards a rational mind, so that the counselee can have various points of view on the self-concept/cognitive concept in various situations. This research method is literature study. Analysis of the data used is content analysis. The result of this research is the elaboration of theoretical studies on reframing techniques in cognitive therapy approaches that can be used to achieve students' emotional well-being.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to strengthen the competence of school counselors in Malang Regency through the socialization of the Harmoni Counseling Model. The model was developed to enhance students’ career decision-making skills using a contextual approach that integrates cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions. Its novelty lies in the application of life-value-based principles to support counselor professionalism in addressing student challenges in the era of disruption. The implementation involved needs assessment, material design, focus group discussions, practical simulations, and participant reflection. Eleven vocational school counselors participated, selected purposively through the regional counseling teachers’ association. Evaluation was conducted through questionnaires and observations, analyzed using Aiken’s V to assess understanding levels. The results indicated strong engagement, with 90.9 percent of participants showing enthusiasm for the model’s application. The analysis revealed high validity (≥0.83) across six understanding aspects, with two aspects achieving a perfect score of 1.00. Counselors demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the model’s rationale, objectives, and implementation guidelines, though the concept of student career development tasks required refinement. Overall, the program effectively enhanced counselor competence and confirmed the Harmoni Counseling Model’s relevance as a research-based approach for professional development and sustainable counseling practice.
