Abstract

The Community Service Program entitled “Improving Product Quality and Production Technology Training for Onion Crackers to Increase the Income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency” was implemented to address issues related to low product quality and inefficient production processes among partner MSMEs. Field observations identified several problems, including manual production methods, inconsistent product quality, and limited packaging and marketing strategies. The implemented solutions included training in the use of simple production technologies such as dough mixer machines, automatic cutters, and controlled-temperature frying. In addition, participants received training in modern packaging and digital marketing through social media platforms. The program outcomes indicated increased production efficiency, more consistent product quality, and wider market reach. The partners showed strong enthusiasm in applying the introduced technologies, and the program successfully met its intended objectives.

Abstract

Writing is a fundamental yet demanding competency for university students in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. This research aims to explore the writing experiences of EFL students at Universitas Serang Raya, specifically focusing on the challenges they encounter and the strategies they employ to overcome these difficulties. To address this objective, the study formulated a central question: How do students perceive their writing process and what strategies do they utilize in developing their academic writing skills? This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected from eight English Education students through semi-structured interviews, reflective writing essays, and document analysis of student work. The participants were selected using purposive sampling based on their completion of Academic Writing courses. The findings, derived through thematic analysis, revealed three primary themes: (1) significant linguistic and affective challenges, including limited vocabulary, grammatical errors, and low self-confidence; (2) a reliance on compensatory strategies such as digital tools and translation from the native language; and (3) a preference for process-oriented and interactive learning environments. The results suggest that while students are proactive in using digital resources, their dependence on translation indicates a need for more integrated strategic training. This study provides practical implications for educators to design more responsive, process-based writing instructions that address both the cognitive and affective needs of EFL learners.

Abstract

This study analyzed the conditions and behavior of staple food diversification, examined the influence of harvested area and the productivity of staple food crops based on local potential on food security, and explored the efforts that should have been undertaken by the government and local communities to successfully implement the staple food consumption diversification program in Banyumas Regency. This study employed a quantitative method and used panel data from 2020 to 2023 collected from 27 districts in Banyumas Regency. The dependent variable in this study was food security, while the independent variables included harvested area, rice productivity, corn productivity, cassava productivity, and sweet potato productivity. The results of this study showed that, partially, the variables of harvested area, rice productivity, and sweet potato productivity had a positive and significant effect on food security in Banyumas Regency. However, the productivity of corn and cassava did not significantly affect food security in the region. The feasibility test results indicated that the variables of harvested area, rice, corn, cassava, and sweet potato productivity were significant predictors of food security. The implications of this study emphasized the importance of increasing the harvested area and preventing agricultural land conversion to support food security in Banyumas Regency.

Abstract

Mathematics is often perceived as a difficult and abstract subject by elementary school students, which can lead to low learning interest and motivation. This condition is reflected in the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results, which indicate relatively low mathematical proficiency among students in Indonesia. Previous studies have explored educational games for mathematics learning. However, limited research explicitly integrates strategic turn-based mechanics with graded mathematical difficulty levels to encourage reflective decision-making among elementary students. This study aims to develop an Android-based educational game entitled Petualangan Ksatria as a supplementary learning medium for fourth-grade elementary mathematics learning. The game development process followed the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) instructional design model and was implemented using the Unity game engine. Functional validation was conducted through black-box testing to ensure that all game modules and features operated in accordance with predefined specifications. Furthermore, the evaluation stage employed User Acceptance Testing (UAT), involving 31 students and one fourth-grade teacher. The results indicate a student acceptance score of 85%, classified as Very Satisfactory, and a teacher evaluation score of 80%, categorized as Satisfactory. These findings indicate that Petualangan Ksatria is aligned with the Kurikulum Merdeka in Indonesia and shows potential as an engaging supplementary learning medium for mathematics education in elementary schools.

Abstract

The Indonesian government has introduced the possibility of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)-based financing through Government Regulation Number 24 of 2022 as part of its efforts to stimulate the growth of the creative economy. The regulation provides a legal framework for utilizing IPR as collateral in creative economy financing schemes through fiduciary security arrangements. Despite this regulatory advancement, its practical implementation remains constrained by various challenges. This study aims to analyze the legal and institutional obstacles that hinder the effective use of IPR as loan collateral within financial institutions. Employing a normative juridical approach and drawing upon Lawrence M. Friedman's legal system theory, which encompasses legal structure, legal substance, and legal culture, this research identifies three principal issues. First, from the perspective of legal structure, the absence of specialized IPR valuation institutions, secondary markets for collateral execution, and intermediary institutions limits the operational feasibility of IPR-based financing. Second, regarding legal substance, there is a regulatory inconsistency between Government Regulation Number 24 of 2022 and Bank Indonesia Regulation Number 14/15/PBI/2012, which does not explicitly recognize IPR as an acceptable form of collateral. Third, in terms of legal culture, limited public awareness of the economic value of IPR, coupled with the prudential principles adopted by financial institutions, generates reluctance to accept IPR as security for credit facilities. The findings indicate that without regulatory harmonization, the development of supporting infrastructure, and broader public awareness initiatives, the potential of IPR as a driver of creative economic growth will remain underutilized. Therefore, this study recommends the establishment of standardized IPR valuation guidelines, revisions to banking regulations, and the designation of selected financial institutions as pilot projects to accelerate the implementation of IPR-based financing schemes.
