Abstract

This study aims to develop and measure the effectiveness of early reading enrichment books that integrate humanist values, 21st-century skills, and entrepreneurial dimensions for primary school students. Based on needs analysis, the enrichment books are designed not only to improve reading skills but also to support the development of critical thinking, collaboration, empathy, and creativity. The results from the pretest and posttest show a significant improvement, with an average pretest score of 45.50 and a posttest score of 75.10, showing a difference of 29.60 points. Analysis using the paired t-test produced a t-value of -10.99 with a significance value (p-value) of 0.000, indicating that the difference in learning outcomes is statistically significant. This research is also supported by several recent literatures that highlight the importance of integrating 21st-century skills, entrepreneurial dimensions, and humanist values in learning. Although the results of this study are positive, there are some limitations, such as the limited sample size and focus solely on reading skills. Further research is recommended to expand the range of skills measured, as well as to link the use of technology, local culture, and examine the long-term effectiveness of these enrichment books.

Abstract

Gender equality has been an issue in many societies. It becomes a highlighted issue, and novels Larung and Cantik itu Luka offer the reader insight into the issue. This research compared two novels that talk about gender issues, especially how women are represented. The research found that inequality occurs in a society because of factors of Power and Resistance from the superior and inferior groups. Using Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis Framework, the researcher uncovers how the novel’s writer shares their thought about the gender issue. The analysis also integrates Halliday's Transitivity theory to parse clauses and Mills' theory of sexism to deconstruct discourse practices. The result is the gender issue that happens when there is inequality in the Proportion of chance and the dynamic role of gender in a society. This research reveals how both novels address the issue with a different approach to introduce a society that focuses on women’s perspectives of gender inequality and domination.

Abstract

Abstract

While the digitization of academic editing is often considered to linearly improve performance, the internal mechanisms that differentiate the impact of tools and learning processes are rarely explored. This study aims to analyze the effects of using the Track Changes feature on editing accuracy and its relationship to metacognitive regulation and cognitive load of aspiring editors. Using a quasi-experimental Non-equivalent Control Group Design, this study involved aspiring student editors divided into an experimental group (Track Changes) and a control group (conventional). Data were collected through an editing accuracy test and analyzed using Normalized Gain and Cohen's d effect size. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significant increase in editing accuracy (g = 0.53) compared to the control group (g = 0.19). Inferential analysis yielded a Cohen's d value of 1.18, indicating a large effect of tool use on editorial performance. These findings demonstrate that Track Changes functions as a cognitive scaffold that reduces external cognitive load, particularly on surface-level errors such as mechanics and typography. However, improvements in logic and discourse were limited, suggesting that this technology is more effective as a metacognitive mediator than as a substitute for higher-order linguistic reasoning. The unique contribution of this study lies in the empirical separation of the tool's technical impact from natural learning progression, which provides a theoretical basis for integrating technology into professional editing education curricula.

Abstract

This study analyses women's resistance and the ideology of patriarchal hegemony as narrated in Ayu Utami's novel Larung. The main issue raised is the mechanism by which female characters negotiate their identities and build counter-consciousness within a patriarchal social structure, especially after the New Order. The objective of this study is to provide an in-depth explanation of this process. This study employs Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) framework, integrated with Antonio Gramsci's theory of hegemony, as its analytical basis. This qualitative study utilizes the text Larung as primary data. The analysis is conducted through Fairclough's three-dimensional model, covering text, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice, to comprehensively map the complex relationship between language, ideology, and power. The findings show that women's resistance is manifested through linguistic, narrative, and symbolic strategies, which collectively serve to redefine women's bodies and sexuality as autonomous realms of consciousness and agency. The discourse practices in Utami's work explicitly highlight solidarity among women and offer a sharp critique of patriarchy's limitations. In conclusion, language in literary works is a strategic arena for ideological struggles that enable women to reclaim discursive authority, and the combination of CDA and hegemony theory approaches has proven highly valid for interpreting the dynamics of power and feminist resistance.

Abstract

This study explores the characteristics of speech disorders in children with ADHD and examines effective intervention strategies, including technopreneurial solutions, and parental language practices to support their communication development. The research aims to bridge the gap in current intervention models by integrating traditional speech therapy with innovative, technology-driven approaches, such as AI-powered diagnostic tools and digital platforms. Using a qualitative case study method, data were collected through structured clinical observations, speech sample analysis, and in-depth interviews with pediatricians, child psychologists, speech therapists, and parents of children with varying types of ADHD. The results reveal that children with ADHD commonly experience articulation difficulties, disfluency, and impairments in receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language skills. A novelty of this study is the development of a structured intervention model that combines conventional speech therapy with ADHD-sensitive techniques, including behaviour management, visual aids, and environmental adaptations, alongside AI-driven diagnostic tools and digital platforms to enhance accessibility and engagement. Additionally, a practical guide to language parenting was designed to empower parents and caregivers to actively support therapy outcomes by using consistent communication strategies at home. The study also produced a comprehensive database of speech characteristics in Indonesian children with ADHD, serving as a foundation for further research and development of more effective assessment instruments. This research underscores the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and parental involvement in addressing speech disorders in children with ADHD, aligning with SDGs 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDGs 4 (Quality Education).

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of cyberbullying against people with disabilities in the comment column of the TikTok platform through a forensic linguistic perspective. The focus of the research is directed at the form of speech used by the perpetrator in carrying out verbal attacks. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach based on John Searle's speech action theory. Data was collected from comments that contained indications of cyberbullying and analyzed based on speech categories. The results showed that cyberbullying was dominated by assertive (22 findings) and expressive (14 data) speech, with the category of insults as the main instrument of verbal attack. The dominance of assertive speech and expressive insults proves that the perpetrator consciously uses statements to demean people with disabilities, either through derogatory jokes or with explicit intent to insult. These findings confirm that language in the digital space not only serves as a means of communication, but can also be an instrument of symbolic violence that impacts the dignity of the individual. This research is expected to contribute to the development of forensic linguistic studies and become the basis for efforts to prevent and handle cyberbullying against vulnerable groups on social media.
