Abstract

The increasing use of chemical ingredients in cosmetic products poses a risk of long-term adverse effects on skin health, prompting a return to the utilization of natural ingredients. This community service activity aims to provide education and hands-on practice in making herbal face toner for students of SMAS Al Washliyah 3 Medan. The main ingredients used are cucumber (Cucumis Sativus L) and aloe vera (Aloe Vera L), which are known for their moisturizing, soothing, and cooling properties for the skin. The activity methods include material presentation, a question-and-answer session, and toner-making practice to enhance participants' understanding and skills. Through this program, it is expected that adolescents will gain awareness of the importance of safe and synthetic-free skin care, be able to create natural care products independently, and become wiser in choosing environmentally friendly cosmetic products.

Abstract

Most drugs on the market contain multiple active ingredients, each of which is intended to enhance the drug's therapeutic effect and ease of administration. Determination of the levels of efficacious substances in drug preparations is essential for agencies that conduct drug determinations, such as the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and the drug industry; therefore, a rapid and dependable analytical method, as well as relatively inexpensive and easily accessible tools and operational costs, are required. In practice, however, it can produce accurate and precise results. This research will be conducted by optimizing the solvent and simultaneously analyzing the levels of Vitamin C and Zinc in the tablet preparation without any separation step using visible spectrophotometry. Vitamin C and Zinc were found to be soluble in a mixture of methanol and water with a ratio of 50:50 after a single examination with the addition of the complexing agent dhitizon at a concentration of 0.1%, which produced a pink color. Calculation of Vitamin C and Zinc's linearity. The linearity value described is the correlation coefficient value for both Vitamin C and Zinc, which is very close to one, indicating an excellent relationship between the drug concentration and the absorbance value. This also suggests that absorbance will increase as concentration increases. The method validation requirements for linearity, accuracy, and precision as well as the limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) were met by the analytical method validation with promising results.

Abstract

Abstract Bidara plants have many benefits in the treatment of sore skin, ulcers, and burns. Burns are a form of tissue damage or loss caused by contact with a heat source such as fire, hot water, electricity, radiation, or corrosive substances. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the ethanol extract of bidara leaf in healing burns in male rabbits compared to bioplacenta. This study used an experimental method of maceration extraction using 96% ethanol. To test the effect of burns, 15 test animals were grouped into five groups, each of which used three test animals. The treatment group was a gel-based negative control group, a positive bioplacenta control group, and a treatment group with bidara leaf ethanol extract at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. The results of the research on the effectiveness of healing burns in the three formulations, namely a concentration of 15%, showed faster healing of wound diameter in male rabbits compared to concentrations of 5% and 10% but were not more effective when compared to bioplacenta ointment. Abstract

Antalgin (metamizole sodium) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic widely used in pain management. Quantitative determination of antalgin in pharmaceutical preparations is essential to ensure patient safety and drug quality. This study aimed to determine the maximum absorption wavelength, establish a calibration curve, and quantify antalgin content in generic tablet preparations using ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometry. Standard solutions were prepared in 0.1 N HCl at concentrations of 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24 μg/mL. The maximum absorption wavelength was determined at 255 nm. The calibration curve yielded a linear regression equation of y = 0.0271x + 0.0031 with a correlation coefficient r = 0.9994, satisfying the acceptance criterion of r ≥ 0.995. Quantitative analysis of six replicate samples yielded a mean antalgin content of 82.78% (range: 77.55–88.00%), which did not meet the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia VI requirement of 95.0–105.0%. The substandard content may be attributed to excipient interference, procedural errors, and improper storage conditions. UV spectrophotometry demonstrated acceptable linearity and precision for antalgin determination.

Abstract

Upaya peningkatan imunitas masyarakat merupakan langkah preventif penting dalam menekan angka kejadian penyakit infeksi. Indonesia memiliki potensi buah lokal yang melimpah dan kaya akan zat gizi serta senyawa bioaktif yang bermanfaat bagi kesehatan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat Desa Ngombakan dalam memanfaatkan buah pisang, nanas, dan buah naga sebagai minuman imun booster dan antibakteri alami. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyuluhan, demonstrasi pembuatan produk, serta evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 22 November 2025 dengan sasaran ibu-ibu kader Posyandu. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta yang ditunjukkan oleh kenaikan nilai post-test dibandingkan pre-test. Selain itu, peserta mampu mempraktikkan pembuatan minuman smoothies berbahan buah lokal secara mandiri. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa edukasi dan pelatihan pengolahan buah lokal efektif dalam mendukung upaya peningkatan imunitas masyarakat serta berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai produk kesehatan berbasis sumber daya lokal.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas peternak dan petugas teknis melalui Bimbingan Teknis (Bimtek) Manajemen Peternakan dan Kesehatan Hewan yang diselenggarakan oleh Balai Besar Veteriner Maros di Gedung Pertemuan, Kantor Bupati Halmahera Selatan, Kecamatan Weda, Kabupaten Halmahera Tengah, pada tanggal 20 Juli 2023. Kegiatan ini menghadirkan narasumber dari Program Studi Peternakan, Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Khairun, Kepala Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Halmahera Tengah, narasumber dari Dinas Pertanian Provinsi Maluku Utara, Bupati Halmahera Tengah, dan anggota DPR RI Maluku Utara. Materi meliputi kebijakan peternakan sebagai penopang ketahanan pangan, manajemen pemeliharaan ternak ruminansia potong dan unggas, biosekuriti, pencegahan penyakit hewan menular, serta peningkatan produktivitas berbasis kesehatan ternak. Metode pelaksanaan berupa ceramah, diskusi interaktif, dan studi kasus lapangan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap praktik manajemen kandang, deteksi dini penyakit, serta penerapan prinsip kesejahteraan hewan. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi pada pemahaman petani peternak, penguatan sistem peternakan daerah, dan mendukung program penyediaan ternak ruminansia potong dan unggas secara berkelanjutan

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menetapkan kadar dietilen glikol (DEG) pada sirup anak yang beredar di apotek menggunakan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis, sekaligus memvalidasi metode tersebut. DEG dikategorikan sebagai zat berbahaya yang dapat menyebabkan gagal ginjal akut, dengan batas aman tidak boleh melebihi 0,1%. Sampel diambil secara purposive sampling dari tiga merek sirup yang paling banyak dibeli di Apotek Deli Tua. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan panjang gelombang maksimum DEG adalah 625 nm , dengan operating time optimal 15 menit. Kurva kalibrasi menunjukkan linearitas tinggi (R2=0,999). Kadar rata-rata DEG pada sampel A, B, dan C berturut-turut adalah 0,08756%, 0,16138%, dan 0,1334%. Dua dari tiga sampel tersebut melebihi ambang batas aman 0,1% yang ditetapkan BPOM, mengindikasikan potensi risiko kesehatan. Validasi metode menunjukkan akurasi (80-120% recovery) dan presisi (%RSD < 2%) yang baik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian lanjutan dengan metode analisis lain dan analisis toksikologis direkomendasikan.

Abstract

Vitamin C merxupakan vitamin yang penting xuntxuk txubxuh. Vitamin C mxudah larxut dalam air dan yang paling tidak stabil karena mxudah rxusak oleh panas dan penyimpanan. Vitamin C banyak terkandxung dalam berbagai sayxuran dan bxuah-bxuahan segar. Salah satxu bxuah yang mengandxung vitamin C adalah bxuah pir. Txujxuan dari penelitian ini adalah xuntxuk mengetahxui pengarxuh lama penyimpanan pada sxuhxu dingin terhadap kadar vitamin C bxuah pir. Penelitian ini menggxunakan metode ekperimental yaitxu xuntxuk menentxukan kadar vitamin C dalam sampel. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitxu didapat kadar awal tertinggi pada pir centxury (1,611 mg/g). Namxun setelah 6 hari terjadi penxurxunan kadar secara signifikan 0,880 mg/g (±45%), pada pir xiangli hari 0 didapat kadarnya 1,362 mg/g, pada hari ke-6 penxurxunan kadar vitamin c menjadi 0,518 mg/g (±62%). Pada pir jambxu kadar vitamin C awal sebesar 0,814 mg/g. Setelah disimpan selama 6 hari menxurxun menjadi 0,330 mg/g (±59%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terjadi penxurxunan kadar vitamin C pada ketiga jenis bxuah pir secara signifikan dikarenakan vitamin C mxudah sekali teroksidasi, baik oleh temperatxur, cahaya maxupxun xudara sekitar sehingga kadar vitamin C tetap berkxurang walaxupxun disimpan dalam sxuhxu dingin. Kesimpxulannya, terjadi penxurxunan kadar vitamin C pada ketiga jenis bxuah pir secara signifikan dikarenakan vitamin C mxudah sekali teroksidasi, baik oleh temperatxur, cahaya maxupxun xudara sekitar walaxupxun disimpan pada sxuhxu dingin.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the acrylamide levels in animal-based (grilled chicken and grilled fish) and plant-based (grilled Cilembu sweet potato) foods using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. Acrylamide is a carcinogenic compound formed in foods heated to high temperatures. The samples were tested qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative tests confirmed the presence of acrylamide in all three samples. Quantitative measurement was performed at a maximum wavelength of 267 nm and showed the average acrylamide levels in grilled Cilembu sweet potato, grilled chicken, and grilled fish were 51.3964 mcg/g, 38.1875 mcg/g, and 32.1383 mcg/g, respectively. The highest level was found in the grilled Cilembu sweet potato due to its higher carbohydrate content. Although the detected levels are below the daily toxic limit set by BPOM, excessive long-term consumption is not recommended. The method validation test showed results that met the requirements for linearity (r = 0.995) , accuracy (recovery range 101.58% - 106.33%) , and precision (RSD < 2%) , with LOD and LOQ values of 0.4111 and 1.3703, respectively. It was concluded that the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method is effective for the analysis of acrylamide in grilled food samples.

Abstract

This study evaluated the potential of pedada leaf extract (Sonneratia alba Sm.) as an active ingredient in a facial cleansing gel preparation. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH method and the gel's physical characteristics were assessed. The results indicate that pedada leaves have potential as a natural antioxidant in gel-based facial cleansing cosmetic formulations. This study used an experimental method with a laboratory approach. Ethanol extract of pedada leaves was obtained through maceration and then formulated into facial wash gels at various concentrations. Evaluations were conducted on the physical properties of the preparation, such as pH, homogeneity, adhesion, spreadability, and viscosity. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH method to determine the IC₅₀ value. The results showed that the facial wash gel preparation with pedada leaf extract met good physical standards, such as pH, viscosity, and homogeneity. The best antioxidant activity was obtained at a specific concentration with an IC₅₀ value of 50 ppm, indicating very strong antioxidant activity and potential for use in natural skin care products. The conclusion of this study indicates that pedada leaf extract can be formulated into a facial wash gel that meets physical standards and has very strong antioxidant activity. This study recommends the use of pedada leaves as a natural active ingredient in cosmetic products, and the need for further research to test long-term stability and safety of use.
