Abstract

One of the efforts to increase soybean production in Bengkulu is through the use of coastal land. Coastal land improvement is carried out by adding compost fertilizers. In order to meet the nutrient needs for soybean plants in coastal lands, a combination of compost and urea is needed. This study aims to determine the performance of soybean in the application of various types of compost and doses of urea and determine the type of compost and the best dose of urea in coastal lands. The study was conducted in July-August 2020. The study used a 2-factor and 3-replications in Completely Randomized Block Design, the first factor was the type of compost: P1 = Widelia trilobata; P2 = Tithonia diversivolia; P3 = oil palm empty bunches, P4 = water hyacinth. The second factor is the dose of Urea: N0 = 0 kg.ha-1, N1 = 25 kg.ha-1, N2 = 50 kg.ha-1, N3 = 75 kg.ha-1. The soybean used was the variety of Direng 1. The results showed that the type of compost and the dose of urea were not significantly different in the soybean plant performance variables. The application of 4 types of compost as much as 10 tons ha-1 in coastal lands showed poor growth and yield a little. Thitonia compost gives the highest yields of 0.5 ton.ha-1 and 0.48 ton.ha-1 when giving urea 75 kg.ha-1. Soybean yields are still very low, so it is necessary to double the dose of urea in coastal lands. Keywords: Coastal Land, Direng 1, Compost and Urea.

Abstract

Efforts to fulfill food demands for Indonesian to comply with population increases endorse to extend production areas to marginal lands. Sorghum which has an ability to adapt with less favourable growing environments almost has nutritional values as good as corn, but this crop is less cultivated by farmers. Adaptation mechanisms of sorghum to environmental stresses are by producing natural allelopathies. Those allelochemicals could be properly managed as natural herbicides for sorghum production in swamplands. This review aimed to describe the potential uses of allelochemicals produced by sorghum for sustainable sorghum production in swamplands. Reviews concluded that (1) sorghum is most likely suitable for swamplands due to its wide range abilities to cope biotic and abiotic stressors, (2) sorghum is able to increase the production of sorgoleone, dhurrin and phenolic allelochemicals, and (3) those allelochemical extracts could be developed as bioherbicide compounds for sustainable production of various crops.

Abstract

Soybean is one of the secondary crops that has a good economic value. Soybean needs are increasing with increasing population, but production is not sufficient. Extensification programs can be carried out in sub-optimal swamp swamps with water saturated cultivation technology. Low pH and high Al and Fe are the main obstacles. One of the strategies taken is the provision of coral ameliorants. The aim of this study was to obtain information on the effectiveness of coral reefs to improve the cultivation of black soybean in swamp swamps. The study was conducted in March - May 2018 at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ratu Samban Arga Makmur Bengkulu Utara. The study used a randomized block design with factorial patterns. The first factor in the dose of ameliorant per plant consisted of: P0: control, P1= 5 g, P2 = 6 g, P3= 7 g, P4= 8 g, P5= 9 g, P6= 10 g. The second factor when the ameliorant application consists of: W1= 4 weeks before planting (MBT), W2 = 3 MBT, W3 = 2 MBT, W4 = 1 MBT, W5= when planting, W6= 1 weeks after panting. The results showed that the treatment of the dose and time of application of coral ameliorants had a very significant effect on plant height and number of leaves. There is no real interaction between the dose and time of ameliorant application to all variables. The best dose of ameliorant treatment is 9 g per plant and can increase the height and number of leaves per plant. When the application of 1 MBT and 1 MST is able to produce the best height and number of leaves.

Abstract

Abstract

Currently, the use of social media as a marketing tool is carried out by Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to promote fishery products.
