Abstract

The rapid growth of online scientific publications presents challenges in efficiently filtering relevant information. Many search systems still rely on keyword matching, which is often ineffective in understanding the context of user queries. This study develops a chatbot system based on BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) for scientific article retrieval and automatic summarization. The system is designed to comprehend user intent and generate summaries of relevant articles. The evaluation was conducted on a dataset of 506 scientific articles, assessing search accuracy based on topic, abstract, author name, and time range. Results show 100% accuracy in searches by author and abstract, with varying performance in topic-based and time-based searches. This system is expected to enhance the efficiency and relevance of scientific literature retrieval and support the productivity of researchers across various fields.

Abstract

This study compares two feature extraction techniques, namely Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) and Word2Vec, in the sentiment classification of comments related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict using Support Vector Machine (SVM). The dataset consists of 1000 YouTube comments and 158 news paragraphs, categorized into pro and con Palestinian sentiments. The preprocessing process includes casefolding, special character and stopword removal, lemmatization, and tokenization. The results show that SVM with Word2Vec has better performance than SVM with LSA in the classification of positive and negative comments. SVM model with Word2Vec recorded a precision value of 92% and F1-Score of 93% on negative comments. Meanwhile, SVM with LSA recorded 90% precision and 92% F1-Score. On positive comments, SVM with Word2Vec recorded 92% recall and 93% F1-Score. While SVM with LSA recorded 89% recall and 91% F1-Score. Word2Vec's strength lies in its ability to capture word context and nuance more effectively, thanks to training using richer contextualized comment and news data. In conclusion, although both methods show good ability in sentiment classification, the use of Word2Vec provides more consistent and accurate results. This research contributes to the advancement of sentiment classification methods in the context of complex socio-political issues and can serve as a reference for applying machine learning to more accurate and contextual public opinion analysis.

Abstract

Purpose – This study addresses persistently high stunting rates in South Sulawesi, Indonesia, which remain above national targets despite declining trends. We developed a clustering model to overcome limitations of traditional methods in handling complex health data with overlapping characteristics, aiming to identify priority regions requiring targeted interventions. Methods – Using 2,267 structured records from Satu Data Indonesia covering maternal and child health indicators, we implemented Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) algorithm with systematic preprocessing, optimal cluster determination via Elbow Method, and quality validation using Silhouette Coefficient.Findings – Analysis revealed three distinct clusters for pregnant women (representing good, moderate, and low service coverage areas) and three corresponding clusters for infants. Validation showed Silhouette values ranging from 0.204 to 0.645, indicating variable cluster separation quality with Cluster 0 pregnant women achieving highest cohesion (0.638) and Cluster 2 infants showing strongest separation (0.645).Research limitations – Data quality limitations affected cluster cohesion in some areas, particularly Cluster 1 infants (0.204 Silhouette value), constraining generalizability. The FCM approach accommodates real-world data complexity better than rigid clustering methods but requires high-quality input data.Originality – This research contributes an adaptive framework for evidence-based stunting prevention through sophisticated data-driven segmentation. Findings offer immediate practical value for health policymakers in resource allocation and intervention planning, with potential adaptation to other regional contexts facing similar public health challenges.

Abstract

The rapid adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in education requires teachers to strengthen their competencies in producing accurate, ethical, and safe learning media. This community engagement program was conducted in a secondary education institution to enhance teachers’ AI literacy and ability to apply structured prompting using the CRISP-EDU framework. The training emphasized fact-checking, credible source attribution, bias mitigation, and student data protection principles. Evaluation results demonstrate improvements across all competency dimensions: understanding of CRISP-EDU fundamentals (+42%), AI licensing and ethics (+32%), classroom AI-related standard operating procedures and risk awareness (+26%), generative AI utilization (+15%), and practical application of CRISP-EDU (+23.66%). These findings indicate a shift in teachers’ roles from passive users to critical and ethical content curators capable of producing safe and contextually appropriate AI-based learning materials.

Abstract

The Community Service Program aims to improve ethical competency among student mentors through a structured training program that focuses on five key areas: confidentiality, ethical communication, communication style, professional boundaries, and respecting mentee diversity. A total of 31 mentors participated in pre- and post-test assessments, allowing for a measurable analysis of knowledge development. The training was delivered online using Zoom and included interactive discussions, scenario analysis, and self-reflection sessions. Results showed significant improvements in all five indicators, particularly in understanding ethical communication (from 32.3% to 77.4% selecting the highest score), and appropriate communication style (from 41.9% to 80.6%). Even dimensions with high baseline scores, such as confidentiality (74.2%), experienced positive growth. The findings confirm that the training successfully improved participants’ ethical sensitivity, practical communication skills, and preparedness for real-world mentoring situations. This initiative contributed to the development of a responsible mentoring culture that aligns with the values of empathy, professionalism, and inclusion. Future programs should consider expanding to include peer mentors from other faculties and provide ongoing support mechanisms to strengthen ethical mentoring practices.

Abstract

In the era of project-based learning (PjBL), the quality of student learning is a primary concern. However, often the quality of user interface (UI) in these projects is neglected. Therefore, we conducted intensive training using Figma to enhance UI quality in PjBL projects. With a practical approach, students were encouraged to become more engaged and understand UI design concepts better. The results were surprising: there was a significant improvement in the quality of student project UIs. Not only were they more actively involved, but they were also able to apply good design principles. These findings offer new hope in curriculum development and teaching practices for the future, reinforcing Figma's contribution to enhancing student learning quality.
