Abstract

Background: Breast milk is a natural food to fulfill the nutritional needs of infants during the first 6 months of life. Nutrition is one of the factors that influence milk production. Protein is one of the most important nutrient factors needed by nursing mothers to increase milk production. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of giving goat milk to increase breast milk production.Subject and Method: A randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted in Madiun, East Java, in October 2019. A sample of 100 lactating mothers who had infants aged 1-3 months was selected by purposive sampling and divided into 2 groups. The dependent variables were an increase in milk production and protein intake. The independent variable was the effectiveness of giving goat milk. The data were collected by observation and 24-hour food recall sheets. The data were analyzed by t test run on Stata 13 program. Results: After having goat milk, the average of breast milk production in the intervention group (Mean= 121.5; SD= 12.81) was higher than in the control group (Mean= 97.06; SD= 13.59), (ES= 0.81; p<0.001). Protein intake after having goat milk was higher in the intervention group (Mean= 92.60; SD= 4.54) than control group (Mean 83.36; SD= 4.26), (ES= 2.10; p < 0.001).Conclusion: Goat milk is effective for increasing milk production and protein intake in lactating mothers. Keywords: goat milk, breast milk, proteinCorrespondence: Prita Alvina Reviana, Masters Program in Public Health, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Jl. Abstract

Background: Work safety and health is one of the efforts in preventing work accidents. One of the protective measures for factory workers is to use personal protective equipment (PPE) when carrying out work activities in the workplace. In the production of plywood wood dust exposure and formaldehyde can cause acute irritation to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract can also be associated with chronic respiratory symptoms. Awareness of the use of personal protective equipment needs to be instilled in every factory worker. This study aims to analyze the determinants of the behavior of the use of personal protective equipment in plywood factory workers.Subjects and Method: This study was conducted using a cross sectional research design. This was done at the plywood factory of PT Mustika Buana Sejahtera Lumajang, East Java, in December 2019. Sampling was carried out by 200 factory workers using simple random sampling. The dependent variable is the behavior of using personal protective equipment. The independent variables are motivation, training, attitude, outcome expectation, perceived benefits, vicarious experience, observational learning, obedience to regulations on the use of PPE, and reinforcement. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by path analysis run on Stata 13.Results: The behavior of using personal protective equipment on workers directly increased with high motivation (b= 2.65; 95% CI= 1.36 to 3.95; p<0.001), observational learning (b= 3.82; 95% CI= 2.25 to 5.39; p<0.001), vicarious experience (b= 2.19; 95% CI= 0.90 to 3.48; p= 0.001), positive attitude (b= 2.38; 95% CI= 1.02 to 3.73; p= 0.001), obedient to the rules (b = 2.16 ; 95% CI= 0.83 to 3.49; p= 0.001), and experienced a strengthening (b= 2.64; 95% CI= 1.34 to 3.93; p <0.001). The use of PPE on workers was indirectly influenced by outcome expectation, perceived usefulness, and training. Conclusion: PPE use directly increases with high motivation, observational learning, vicarious experience, having a positive attitude, obeying the rules, and experiencing reinforcement. The possibility of using PPE indirectly is influenced by outcome expectation, perceived usefulness, and training. Keywords: PPE, factory workers, social cognitive theory, health belief modelCorrespondence: Bayu Putra Dewantara. Abstract

Background: Smoking is a well-known major risk factor for premature death from cancer, cardiovascular disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. When a pregnant woman smokes, she puts herself and her baby at risk. This is because the developing fetus / baby in the mother's womb is in contact with the mother's bloodstream. Any chemical that the mother inhales or swallows can affect the fetus. This study aims to analyze the magnitude of the effect of active smoking on pregnant women with preterm labor by means of a meta-analysis study.Subjects and Method: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis carried out by follow

Abstract

Background: SARS-CoV-2 is a new type of coronavirus that has never been previously identified in humans. In severe cases of COVID-19 it can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death. Hypertension causes a number of pathophysiological changes in the cardiovascular system such as left ventricular hypertrophy and fibrosis. This can make a hypertensive heart particularly vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2. This study aims to analyze and estimate the effect of comorbid hypertension on mortality in COVID-19 patients.Subjects and Method: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis conducted with PRISMA flow diagram. Article searches through journal databases include: Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, and Springer Link by selecting articles published in 2020 and 2021. The keywords used are “Hypertension” OR “Hypertensive Patient” OR “Blood Pressure”, “Systolic Pressure” OR “Diastolic Pressure” AND “Mortality”, OR “death” OR “loss” AND “COVID-19” OR “SARS-COV-2” OR “coronavirus” AND “multivariate”. The inclusion criteria were full paper articles with observational research methods, the results of the analysis used the aOR value, the exposure given was comorbid hypertension, the research subjects were COVID-19 patients, with mortality outcomes. Eligible articles were analyzed using the Revman 5.3 app. Results: A meta-analysis of 18 articles showed that confirmed COVID-19 patients who had comorbid hypertension had a 1.27 times risk of mortality compared to those without comorbid hypertension and were statistically significant (aOR= 1.27; 95% CI= 1.14 to 1.41; p <0.001).Conclusion: Comorbid Hypertension affects the mortality of COVID-19 patients.
