Abstract

Tanaman Libo (Ficus variegata Blume) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan liar khas Kalimantan Timur sebagai sumber bahan larvasida dan antioksidan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui komponen senyawa aktif antioksidan dalam fraksi n-heksana daun Libo dengan metode GC-MS. Interpretasi spektrum GC-MS dilakukan menggunakan database standar National Institute Standard and Technology (NIST). Komponen mayor fraksi n-heksana yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan antara lain: cyclotetracosane; 1-heneicosanol; 1-docosene; 1,2-benzenedicarboxilic acid; 1-heptacosanol; octacosanol; dan cyclooctacosane.

Abstract

The chalcone compound is a precursor of flavonoid and pyrazoline compounds. Chalcone has two aromatic rings (A and B) and one ?,?-unsaturated carbon atom. Chalcone compounds can be synthesized via the Claisen Schmidt condensation reaction. Chalcone synthesis uses the basic ingredients of alpha tetralone and benzaldehyde analogues. In this research, chalcone synthesis took place for 48 hours at room temperature. Synthetic materials using ethanol solvent and sodium hydroxide catalyst, as well as basic ingredients alpha tetralone, 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 4-methoxybenzaldehyde. Characterization of synthesized compounds using spectroscopic methods, including 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and mass spectroscopy. Characterization results using spectroscopic methods showed that the two chalcone analogue compounds were successfully synthesized with yields above 70%. Both chalcone compounds showed low activity against MCF-7 cancer cells. Molecular docking simulations showed that both chalcone analogues produced energy levels and intramolecular interactions that were no better than 4-hydroxytamoxifen. Keywords:          chalcone analogues, alpha tetralone, cytotoxic   Abstrak Senyawa kalkon merupakan salah satu prekursor dari senyawa flavonoid dan pirazolina. Kalkon mengandung dua cincin aromatis (A dan B) dan satu atom karbon ?,?-tak jenuh. Senyawa kalkon dapat disintesis melalui reaksi kondensasi Claisen Schmidt. Kalkon disintesis menggunakan bahan dasar alfa tetralone dan analog benzaldehida. Dalam penelitian ini senyawa kalkon disintesis selama 48 jam pada suhu ruang menggunakan pelarut etanol dan katalis natrium hidroksida serta bahan dasar alfa tetralone, 3,4-dimetoksibenzaldehida dan 4-metoksibenzaldehida.  Senyawa hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan metode spektroskopi meliputi 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) dan spektroskopi massa. Karakterisasi menggunakan metode spektroskopi menunjukkan kedua senyawa analog kalkon berhasil disintesis dengan rendemen diatas 70%. Hasil pengujian sitotoksik menunjukkan bahwa kedua senyawa analog kalkon tidak aktif terhadap sel kanker payudara MCF-7. Simulasi penambatan molekuler menunjukkan bahwa kedua analog kalkon menghasilkan tingkat energi dan interaksi intramolekuler yang tidak lebih baik dibandingkan dengan 4-hidroksitamoksifen. Abstract

Practicum serves as the main support for organic chemistry learning, enhancing both conceptual comperand strengthening students' practical skills through learning experiences. The purpose of this study is to analyze students' learning experiences and the effectiveness of project-based learning (PjBL) in organic chemistry practicum on chalcone synthesis experiment. This study used a mixed method that included both quantitative and qualitative data. The study's findings indicate that project-based learning significantly improves student learning outcomes, as evidenced by an N-Gain of 0.92 and a presentase of 91.97%, as well as an effect size that indicates a significant impact of project-based learning on student learning outcomes. Qualitative data from student surveys also indicated that PjBL not only improved understanding and practical skills, but also added fun to the learning process. This research confirms the importance of innovation in teaching methods to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Miskonsepsi materi kimia di Sekolah Menengah Atas seringkali terjadi di setiap sekolah, salah satu penyebab miskonsepsi tersebut adalah kurangnya pemahaman siswa terkait materi yang diajarkan. Kajian literatur ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pandangan mengenai penggunaan multimedia dalam mengatasi miskonsepsi pada materi kimia sebagai upaya peningkatan pemahaman siswa. Metode yang digunakan pada penulisan kajian literatur ini adalah metode narrative literature review (NLR) dengan mengumpulkan data berupa artikel terkait miskonsepsi materi kimia yang diterbitkan dalam kurun waktu 2016-2023. Beberapa studi menunjukkan efektivitas multimedia dalam mereduksi miskonsepsi serta meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep-konsep kimia. Berdasarkan hasil kajian literatur tersebut menunjukkan bahwa miskonsepsi masih menjadi subjek penelitian saat ini dan masalah miskonsepsi kimia masih sering terjadi pada siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas. Penggunaan multimedia sebagai media pembelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Atas telah terbukti sangat efektif untuk mengatasi miskonsepsi dan meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang materi kimia.

Abstract

Penerapan konsep kimia hijau dan tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan (Sustainable Development Goals) dalam pembelajaran kimia menjadi sangat penting untuk menghadapi tantangan global saat ini, seperti pemanasan global dan kerusakan lingkungan. Kajian literatur ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi prinsip-prinsip kimia hijau yang dapat diintegrasikan ke dalam kurikulum pendidikan, sehingga meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang dampak kimia terhadap keberlanjutan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah narrative literature review yang mengumpulkan dan menganalisis berbagai sumber literatur terkait penerapan kimia hijau dan SDGs dalam pendidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan dalam pembelajaran kimia tidak hanya mendorong praktik pendidikan yang inovatif dan interdisipliner, tetapi juga memungkinkan pendidik dan peserta didik untuk berkontribusi secara aktif dalam menciptakan solusi berkelanjutan. Dengan demikian, pengembangan kurikulum yang relevan sangat diperlukan untuk memastikan generasi mendatang lebih sadar akan isu-isu keberlanjutan.

Abstract

Ulap Doyo is a traditional woven fabric of the Dayak Benuaq tribe in East Kalimantan. Ulap Doyo is made from doyo (Curculigo latifolia) leaf fibers with the base color of whitish cream. Natural dye is used to create patterns. Ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) leaves contain tannins that can be used as natural dyes. This study aimed to determine the color change of doyo leaf fibers dyed using aqueous ketapang leaf extract. The natural dye was extracted by decoction technique with distilled water as solvent. Tannin content was analyzed using phytochemical tests and permanganometric titration. The dyeing process used the dye bath technique at 92°C of dyeing temperature, 1:100 (w/v) of MLR, and 135 minutes of dyeing time. Before dyeing process, the extract and fibers were treated using 5 mL of 1 M acetic acid (AA) and 5 mL of 1 M ammonia (Am). The color change of the dyed fibers: untreated fiber - untreated extract (UF-UE), treated fiber - untreated extract (TFAA-UE, TFAm-UE), untreated fiber - treated extract (UF-TEAA, UF-TEAm), and treated fiber - treated extract (TFAA-TEAA, TFAm-TEAm) were measured using ImageJ application and shown in term of ∆I. This research results shows that the extract was dark brown solution with 0,280 ± 0,001 % (w/w) of tannin content. The color shade of the dyed doyo leaf fibers is pale brown to brown. The treatment of the extract using acetic acid (UF-TEAA) produce the highest colour shade and ∆I value. This study shows that the ketapang leaf extract can be used as dye for ulap doyo. Abstract

Scientific writing training is an important means of student self-development, especially in terms of writing skills and critical thinking skills. This community service activity aims to provide scientific writing training to students of State Senior High School 1 Sangasanga. This training was held for two days, Wednesday and Thursday, September 25-26, 2024 at State Senior High School 1 Sangasanga starting at 08.30 WITA until finished. The training participants were 50 students from grade eleven (XI). The methods used in this training activity include providing materials, intensive guidance, and direct practice in compiling scientific papers. The results of this training showed a significant increase in students' abilities in compiling scientific papers systematically, critically, and based on facts obtained in the field. In addition, this training also motivated students to be more courageous in conveying creative and solution-oriented ideas. Thus, this training makes a positive contribution to improving students' academic quality. The results obtained after the end of this training were to provide input to participants, namely students, in writing scientific papers by training students' writing and critical thinking skills, as well as encouraging creative and innovative attitudes.

Abstract

Chalcone is one of secondary metabolites included into the class of flavonoid. Chalcone can be obtained from isolation plant and have various biological activities. Abstract

Skin wrinkles are caused by the cleavage of collagen fibers by the major collagenase enzyme matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1). Peptide-based matrix metalloproteinase-1 inhibitors present a potential new therapeutic strategy to prevent MMP-1-mediated collagenolysis, which is induced by UV-induced MMP-1 overexpression. This in silico study investigated the MMP-1 inhibitory capacity of carefully selected and well-designed hexapeptides. A molecular docking method was employed to screen 14 hexapeptides. The target ligands were observed to interact non-covalently. The LYYYGP peptide sequence was found to form three hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) with amino acid (AA) residues in the catalytic domain of MMP-1. Additionally, hydrophobic interactions between these peptides and the protein were observed at certain sites. The maximum binding affinity was observed for the LYYYGP sequence (binding free energy, ?G = -9.00 kcal/mol). These sequences exhibited binding energies comparable to those of the LSYYGP sequence (-8.48 kcal/mol) and YSGYYP sequence (-8.27 kcal/mol). The YSGYGY sequence demonstrated a lower binding affinity for the target receptor, with ?G = -5.59 kcal/mol. This study indicates that specific peptide sequence components are crucial for forming hydrogen bonds that link proteins to peptides. Further investigation, encompassing chemical synthesis and laboratory experimentation, is requisite to substantiate the efficacy of the two hexapeptides.

Abstract

Pembelajaran kimia di sekolah sering kali menggunakan teknik asesmen yang kurang tepat untuk mengukur hasil belajar. Pendidik memerlukan asesmen yang tepat untuk mengevaluasi hasil belajar peserta didik yang ingin diukur. Tujuan kajian literatur ini untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis asesmen dalam pembelajaran kimia. Metode yang digunakan ialah narrative literature review. Terdapat 6 jenis asesmen yang dapat digunakan dalam mengevaluasi hasil belajar dalam pembelajaran kimia. Jenis asesmen tersebut yakni asesmen formatif, sumatif, diagnostik, autentik, teman sejawat, dan diri. Setiap asesmen dapat mengukur hasil belajar yang berbeda-beda. Penggunaan teknik asesmen yang tepat dapat membantu pendidik dalam mengevaluasi kelebihan dan kekurangan selama proses pembelajaran kimia sehingga ketercapaian tujuan pembelajaran kimia dapat dievaluasi
