Abstract

Has been studied composition of mountain salt from Krayan, Nunukan, East Kalimantan. This study aims to determine the composition of the minerals contained in the mountain salt. Mountain salt is obtained from wells Krayan District residents were further prepared for analysis using a technique using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), further by looking at the pattern of X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron microscopic (SEM). Based on the results obtained AAS has identified mineral deposits include: Na, K, Mg, Al, Cu, Zn, Fe, Ba, and Sr. From the results of XRD shows that the main peak of the salt Krayan shows major peaks for NaCl crystals with impurities such as KCl, CaCl2, MgCl2, and AlCl3. SEM observation showed that morphology of Krayan salt have cube shape which is the shape of NaCl crystals with space group Fm3m and lattice parameter (a) 5.620 Ã… Keywords : Mountain Salt, krayan, AAS, XRD, SEM Abstrak Telah dilakukan penelitian analisis kandungan garam gunung asal Krayan Kabupaten Nunukan Kalimantan Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi mineral yang terkandung dalam garam gunung. Garam gunung diperoleh dari sumur warga Kecamatan Krayan yang selanjutnya dipreparasi untuk dianalisis dengan menggunakan menggunakan teknik Spektrometer Serapan Atom (SSA), selanjutnya dengan melihat pola Difraksi Sinar X (XRD), dan Scanning Elektron Microscopy (SEM). Berdasarkan hasil SSA telah diidentifikasi diperoleh kandungan mineral antara lain: Na, K, Mg, Al, Cu, Zn, Fe, Ba, dan Sr. Dari hasil XRD terlihat bahwa puncak utama dari garam krayan tersebut menunjukkan puncak utama untuk Kristal NaCl, dengan impurities antara lain KCl, CaCl2, MgCl2, dan AlCl3. Selain itu hal ini didukung pula oleh pengamatan SEM, bahwa morfologi SEM garam krayan memperlihatkan bentuk kristal kubus yang merupakan bentuk dari Kristal NaCl dengan grup ruang Fm3m dengan panjang kisi kristal 5,620 Ã…. Abstract

The research of Immunoglobulin M (IgM) activity of Theobroma cacao peel extract has been done to 20 rats. The parameter is agglutination between serum of rats and antigen. Rats were grouped to 4 group, which are group of negative control and 3 groups as experiment groups those given by extract in 250, 500 and 700 mg doses of rats. On the first day was given SDMK 2% by Intraperitonial and after 5 day the serum taken and tested. The data of agglutination then analyzed by Anova. The experiment showed that Theobroma cacao peel extract has activity as immunostimulant in 500 mg doses of rats effective dose. Keywords: Theobroma cacao peel extract, agglutination, immunostimulant, Immunoglobulin M (IgM) ABSTRAK Penelitian Aktivitas Imunoglobulin M (IgM) Ekstrak Kulit Buah Kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) telah dilakukan terhadap 20 ekor tikus uji. Parameter yang diamati adalah terjadinya aglutinasi antara serum tikus yang telah diberi perlakuan dengan antigen. Tikus putih dikelompokkan menjadi 4 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif diberi Na CMC 0,5%, serta 3 kelompok uji yang diberikan ekstrak dengan konsentrasi 250, 500 dan 700 mg/200 g BB Tikus. Perlakuan secara per oral diberikan selama 5 hari. Pada hari ke-1 diinjeksikan Sel Darah Merah Kambing (SDMK) 2% secara intraperitonial dan setelah perlakuan, yaitu hari ke-7 serum diambil dan dilakukan pengujian dengan metode titer antibodi. Data hasil pengamatan aglutinasi di analisis menggunakan Anova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak kulit buah Kakao memiliki aktivitas sebagai imunostimulan dengan dosis terbaik 500 mg/200 g BB tikus. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the major health problems, every year the number of patients keep increase. DM can cause chronic complications, will degrade the quality of human resources. Drug interactions occur when the effect of a medication change because other drugs, food, or beverages. The best therapeutic treatment concerning the selection and administration of drugs is very beneficial for the patient. This study aims to determine the type and prevalence of DM, characteristics, and use of medications, and potential drug interactions in the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus. Observational study was conducted using retrospective data DM medical records of all patients in Panglima sebaya Paser’s hospital. Then the data are taken randomly 30 patients for further analysis. The Most type of Diabetes Mellitus is NIDDM ( Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Melitus) as much 1.148 patients, the most characteristic is patients aged 45-59 years (76.66%), female (66.64%), primary school education (34.6%), and not work (86.9%), and has a family history of diabetes (55.6%). The most used drug in the treatment of diabetes is metformin (32.5%) of the biguanide class. Drug interactions are the most common is Insulin with captopril (46%). Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, patient characteristics, drug use, drug interactions ABSTRAK Diabetes mellitus (DM) merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan yang besar, setiap tahunnya jumlah pasiennya terus meningkat. DM dapat menyebabkan komplikasi kronik, akan menurunkan kualitas sumber daya manusia. Interaksi obat terjadi jika efek suatu obat berubah akibat adanya obat lain, makanan, atau minuman. Terapi pengobatan yang baik dan benar terkait pemilihan dan pemberian obat sangat menguntungkan bagi pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tipe dan prevalensi penyakit DM, karakteristik, dan penggunaan obat, serta potensi interaksi obat pada terapi penyakit DM. Penelitian dilakukan secara observasional menggunakan data retrospektif rekam medik seluruh pasien DM di Rumah Sakit Panglima Sebaya Paser tahun 2013. Kemudian diambil secara acak data 30 pasien untuk dianalisis lebih lanjut. Tipe DM yang terbanyak adalah DM tipe 2 sebanyak 1.148 pasien, dengan karakteristik terbanyak adalah pasien berusia ≥45 tahun (76,66%), berjenis kelamin wanita (66,64%), berpendidikan Sekolah Dasar (34,6%), dan tidak bekerja (86,9%), serta memiliki sejarah keluarga pengidap DM (55,6%). Obat yang paling banyak digunakan pada terapi DM adalah Metformin (32,5%) dari golongan biguanid. Interaksi obat yang paling banyak terjadi yaitu Insulin dengan captopril (46%). Abstract

Research about chromatographic profile of antioxidant and antibacterial compounds in n-hexane fraction of Libo leaves (Ficus variegata Blume.) has been done in order to know the form of chromatographic profile of antioxidant and antibacterial compounds in n-hexane fraction of Libo leaves. Extraction was done by maceration using methanol. Isolation was done by 2 methods, vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC) then followed by conventional column chromatography. Eluent used are n-hexane-ethyl acetate and methanol-chloroform. The results based on conventional column chromatography are as many as 10 fractions. The fractions are being conducted then by a qualitative testing of the antioxidant activity using DPPH method and antibacterial activity test using bioautography TLC method. The results formed as a chromatographic profile of fraction that contain antioxidant and antibacterial activity, which are as many as 5 fractions (NHB1, NHB3, NHB4, NHC1, NHC3) active as an antioxidant and 4 fractions (NHB1, NHC1, NHC2, NHC3) which are active as an antibacterial. The secondary metabolite contents of the fractions are alkaloid, flavonoid and steroid/terpenoid.

Abstract

Drugs used with foods or drinks can affect the drug effects. This study aims to observe the effect of papaya juice (Carica papaya L.) to the pharmacokinetics profile of cimetidine in white rats. The animal were randomly in three group. Group 1 (cimetidine) was given a single oral cimetidine 3,6 mg/200gBW. Group 2 (cimetidine and papaya juice dose I) was given cimetidine 3,6 mg/200gBW together with papaya juice 4,5 g /200gBW. Group 3 (cimetidine and papaya juice dose II) was given cimetidine 3,6 mg/200gBW together with papaya juice 9 g /200gBW. The serial blood was collected for 4 hours on lateralis vein of rats tail. Determination of cimetidine in plasma performed by spectrophotometer UV. The pharmacokinetic parameters of cimetidine were calculated by regresi linear method and recidual method and were analyzed by One Way ANOVA using 95 % confidence interval. Based on research results showed that the group II and group III increased of ka, Cpmaks, tmaks, Cl, AUC and decreased ke, t½ab and t½el. Group III provides the most affect the cimetidine pharmacokinetics profile with decreased absorption and elimination and increased metabolism of cimetidine in rat.

Abstract

Sunscreen can protect the skin from the UV radiation. One of the plants that have the potential to be utilized as active ingredients of sunscreen lotion is miana leaves (Coleus atropurpureus Benth). Lotion made in 3 formulas F1, F2 and F3. Lotion tested its stability with a freeze-thaw method, and evaluated organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity and scatterness and tested sunscreen activity of lotion preparation. The preparation shows good homogeneity, and has oleum rosae odor and a thick consistency with the lotion color is brown (F1), dark brown (F2) and slightly greenish brown (F3). Spreading, viscosity, and pH of the lotion meet the Indonesia Standart requirement. The lotion formula comes in the category of fast tanning (F2) and extra protection (F3) sunscreen.

Abstract

Tumbuhan Libo (Ficus variegate Blume) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan liar, dan bagian daunnya tidak pernah dimakan oleh ulat. Pada Tahap ini dilakukan optimalisasi teknik ekstraksi dan menguji metabolit sekunder daun libo. Optimalisasi dilakukan dengan mengubah berbagai variabel yaitu metode ekstraksi, variasi jumlah pelarut, dan lamanya waktu ekstraksi. Efektivitas ekstraksi dilihat dari %rendemen yang dihasilkan. Metode yang digunakan adalah maserasi dan soxhlet, sedangkan pelarut yang digunakan adalah metanol dengan variasi jumlah pelarut 1:10, 1: 20, 1:30 serta variasi waktu ekstraksi (1,2,3 4 dan 5 hari untuk maserasi dan 1,2,3,4 dan 5 siklus untuk metode soxhlet). Hasil yang didapat dari penelitian ini adalah metode terbaik untuk ekstraksi daun libo adalah metode soxhlet dengan % rendemen 34,00 dengan perbandingan pelarut 1:30 dengan lama ekstraksi sebanyak 5 siklus. Dari pengujian metabolit sekunder diketahui daun Libo ini mengandung fenol, flavonoid dan alkaloid.

Abstract

Two fatty acid derivatives, 2-octenoic acid and 2-hexenoic acid were isolated from the extract of n-hexane of the Piper betle L. Var. Nigra (Piperaceae). The chemical structures were identified on the basis of spectroscopic evidence and compared to previously reported spectra. These isolated compounds appear for the first time in the plant.

Abstract

Libo fruit (Ficus variegata Blume) has activity as a sunscreen. Topical form of certain pharmaceuticals can be used to protect the skin from sun exposure. This study aims to determine the best gel-emulsion formula from the libo’s N-Hexane fraction, its stability, and its sunscreen activity. The formula was consist gelling agents variations type and concentration, i.e.  carbopol 940 and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). The best formula were chosen based on physicochemical characteristics. the freeze-thaw test deployed to check the stability, and the sunscreen activity was tested using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The results showed that the best formula was formula 1 with carbopol 940 (1%), there were no changes in physicochemical characteristics during the stability test, and experienced a decrease in sunscreen activity after the stability test.

Abstract

Kulit buah kakao mengandung senyawa polifenol dan flavanoid. Senyawa polifenol dan flavanoid ini memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Senyawa aktif yang diekstraksi dari kulit buah kakao baik dari buah yang masak maupun yang masih muda ditentukan aktivitas antioksidannya menggunakan metode DPPH. Aktivitas antioksidan kulit buah kakao masak yang tertinggi diperoleh dari fraksi etil asetat, dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 0,9 ppm.
