Abstract

This study aims to describe Generation Z's perceptions of communication ethics in delivering messages on social media. Using a quantitative approach, the research was conducted with active students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). The study employed multistage sampling, selecting 394 students from eight faculties: FIPP, FISHIPOL, FIKK, FT, FMIPA, FBSB, FEB, and FV. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms. The validity test indicated that six out of 32 items were invalid, leaving 26 valid items for further analysis. The reliability test yielded a coefficient of 0.858, signifying high reliability. Descriptive percentage statistical techniques were used for data analysis. Results showed that 51% of students had a high perception of communication ethics, while 49% had a low perception. Key aspects of communication ethics assessed included politeness in language, avoiding emotional triggers, caution in posting information, refraining from offensive content related to ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations, and discretion in sharing personal photos. The study concludes that although most students display ethical awareness in their social media communication, nearly half still need improvement. It recommends enhancing educational programs and awareness initiatives to promote stronger ethical practices among Generation Z.

Abstract

This study analyzes the communication strategies of the Agency for Personnel and Human Resource Development (BKPSDM) of Yogyakarta City and their effects on improving the competencies of Civil Servants (ASN) through the Human Capital Development Plan (HCDP). The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, referring to Lasswell's formula and Organizational Communication Theory by Pace, Paterson, and Burnet. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation from September to November 2024. The findings reveal that BKPSDM's communication strategies involve coordination meetings, e-office applications, face-to-face meetings, and questionnaires. However, the manual management of HCDP data and unstructured training socialization schedules hinder optimal program implementation. The findings of this study indicate that BKPSDM's communication strategy has been functioning well; however, better digital data management and a more organized socialization schedule are needed to support the effective implementation of HCDP.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in elementary schools through a literature review. Using the Systematic Literature Review method, data were collected from relevant research journals published between 2023 and 2024. The data analysis technique used was the systematic review method. The analysis of ten journals indicates that the implementation of the PjBL model has a positive impact on improving student learning outcomes, including enhancement in critical thinking, creativity, collaborative thinking skills, and communication. The PjBL learning model has proven effective in various subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Art, as evidenced by a significant increase in the average scores of students after the implementation of PjBL. Additionally, PjBL encourages active student participation in the learning process through tasks and real-life projects that are relevant to daily life. However, its effectiveness is highly dependent on the teacher's competence in designing and managing the learning process. This study concludes that PjBL is an effective learning model for improving student learning outcomes and 21st-century skills in elementary schools, with the caveat that continuous evaluation is necessary to optimize its implementation.

Abstract

The RADEC learning model is an alternative learning model that can be used by educators in current teaching, in line with the demands of HOTS learning. However, this learning model has not yet been widely implemented in elementary schools, in particular. This learning model has several learning characteristics that align with the demands of 21st-century education, such as being able to motivate and actively involve students in the learning process, training students to learn independently, being able to contextualize a student's understanding of the material in relation to real life, being student-centered, and providing opportunities for students to understand and delve into the subject matter. Therefore, the application of the RADEC learning model can help an educator to facilitate the delivery of the material. This study aims to determine the effect of the RADEC learning model on students' critical thinking skills. This research uses a systematic literature review with 4 stages, namely the identification stage, selection stage, verification stage, and combination stage, followed by conclusion. The results of this study were obtained from the analysis of 10 articles relevant to the RADEC learning model published in the last 5 years. Based on the analysis of these 10 articles, it was concluded that the RADEC learning model has a positive effect on students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The critical thinking skills of elementary school students in mathematics learning, espe-cially fraction materials, are still a significant challenge. This study aims to identify and explore the application of metacognition-based learning that can improve students' criti-cal thinking skills. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method of 15 scientific articles, this research examines innovative learning models that integrate metacognition in fraction learning. The research findings show that the implementation of metacognition-based learning significantly improves students' critical thinking skills in several analyzed studies. Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Numbered Head Together (NHT), and STEM-PJBL approaches proved effective in facilitating the development of critical thinking skills. In addition, the use of technology-based interactive media, such as the “Merica” application, also contributed positively to students' understanding of the concept of fractions. The implication of this research is the need for curriculum develop-ment that is more integrated with metacognitive strategies, especially in mathematics learning at the elementary school level. This implication provides practical guidance for teachers and curriculum developers in designing more effective and targeted metacognition based learning. Thus, this research is expected to encourage the development of mathematics learning innovations that are more effective and student centered

Abstract

Interest in reading is a crucial foundation for achieving students' academic success, particularly at the elementary school level. However, in recent years, there has been a noticeable decline in reading interest among elementary school students, which has significantly impacted their academic performance. This study aims to analyze the inhibiting factors that affect students' interest in reading and their impact on learning achievement. The method employed is a literature review, gathering data from various studies published within the last five years. The findings indicate that low reading interest is caused by a lack of motivation, limited access to appropriate reading materials, and non-innovative learning approaches. Furthermore, the school and family environments also play a vital role in shaping students' reading habits. This research underscores the need for collaboration between schools and families to create an environment that fosters a habit of reading. By understanding the factors that hinder reading interest, it is hoped that improvements in students' academic achievement can be achieved, better preparing them for future educational challenges.
