Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable test to measure the critical thinking skills of the high school students of class XI on reaction rate subject matter using the Danczak – Overton – Thompson test framework (DOT test). The research method used in this research is development and validation. In this article, there are three stages of test development, namely the analysis of KI and KD in Chemistry of 2013 curriculum, analysis of the DOT test framework, and the preparation of the test predictions. The development stages produce a draft instrument that is ready to be validated. The developed instrument consists of 30 test questions. The validation stage includes the content validity test by 5 expert judgments. In the validity test, the calculated CVI value is 0.97 so that the instrument is valid. Based on the analysis of research data, it is concluded that the chemistry test based on critical thinking skills that was developed had a good validity value to measure students' critical thinking skills on the reaction rate subject matter.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the growth of students' creative thinking skills in the implementation of learning sharing & jumping tasks in the buffer solution material. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted in one of Bandung's high school students of class XI with a total of 24 students. The instruments used for data collection were interview guidelines, audio and video recordings through zoom meetings and observation sheets. The collected data were analyzed based on Transcript Based Lesson Analysis (TBLA). The results showed that in the sharing task all aspects of creative thinking skills emerged during the learning process, namely in the aspects of fluent thinking, flexible thinking, original thinking, elaborative thinking, and evaluative thinking. Meanwhile, in the jumping task, there is one aspect that does not appear, namely the aspect of original thinking.

Abstract

This study evaluates the alignment of the curriculum with national policies and global environmental challenges, assesses the availability of resources and teaching strategies, and measures students' learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. Using a mixed-methods approach within the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, and Product) evaluation model, the study involved the program chair, two-course instructors, and 26 students from a public university in Aceh. Research instruments included questionnaires, observation sheets, interview guides, and test items. The findings indicate that the curriculum is relevant to global issues and supports the development of students' critical thinking skills. However, limited laboratory facilities, insufficient funding, and a lack of support for environment-based projects pose significant challenges to optimal curriculum implementation. Additionally, the program effectively enhances students' understanding of global environmental issues and their relevance to the SDGs but requires stronger integration of practical applications and explicit connections to SDG targets. Recommendations include project-based learning innovations, cross-sector collaborations, and improvements in facilities and funding to holistically enhance students' environmental literacy and prepare them as sustainability change agents.

Abstract

The independent learning curriculum that is currently implemented requires adjustments in the learning process, one part of which is assessment. This study aims to create an assessment model in the independent learning curriculum in the Mass Conservation of Law practicum using Moodle. The assessment model created is in the form of a performance assessment that uses Moodle media as a platform. The method used is descriptive statistical method. The sample used was 14 students of class X IPA one off SMAN Kota Bandung. The instrument used is an observation sheet rubric and task containing aspects of performance skills in the Law of Conservation of Mass practicum. The results obtained are the chemistry practicum assessment model using Moodle LMS, which can describe students' performance abilities in real practicum. Thus the assessment model using the Moodle LMS can be used as an alternative in assessing the performance student of the mass conservation law practicum in the independent learning curriculum in high school.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the learning programme of the Introduction to Environmental Chemistry course of the Chemistry Education study programme in one of the public universities in Bandung City. This study needs to be evaluated and improved because there are still aspects that are not in accordance with 21st century learning as evidenced by document analysis and learning observations. The method used is a qualitative approach and the CIPP (Context, input, process, Product) evaluation model as a tool to evaluate and improve the lecture programme which focuses on the Context aspect in the form of document analysis of the Semester Learning Plan (SLP), the Input aspect in the form of lecturer interviews and the Process aspect in the form of learning observations. The results obtained from the analysis show that there are several findings that need to be evaluated due to the incompatibility of aspects in the SLP document update such as administrative completeness, the General Skills Aspect (GSA) 1 listed is not in accordance with the Context of Learning Outcomes (CLOs), based on interviews with teaching lecturers it is stated that problem-based learning (PBL) with the context of validated environmental issues in relevant theoretical content and in the aspect of the learning observation process it was found that there were aspects of learning practices that were not in accordance with the SLP document reference. The evaluation also highlighted the importance of updating and adjusting learning media to be more interactive and relevant to the context of environmental issues. The assessment of the last three years shows the potential to further develop programmes can to improve students' higher order thinking skills

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the alignment of the Chemistry Education Study Program curriculum documents at University X with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy, evaluate its implementation, and assess lecture and student perceptions regarding MBKM’s impact on prospective teachers’ competencies. A case study approach was employed, utilizing analysis of curriculum document, observation of course, questionnaires, and interviews. The results indicated that the curriculum documents were aligned with the Higher Education Curriculum Development Guide-MBKM, including the formulation of graduate profiles, learning outcomes, curriculum maps, and course plans. These elements supported prospective teachers in developing competencies relevant to field demands and enabled student participation in MBKM activities. The MBKM implementation in this study program showed active involvement of lecture and students in activities such as ‘Kampus Mengajar’ and ‘Wirausaha Merdeka’, which positively impacted prospective teachers' competencies. Institutional support was a key factor in the program’s success. However, areas for improvement remained, particularly in the use of innovative learning methods such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PjBL), Discovery, and Inquiry to help enhance prospective chemistry teachers' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Water is one of the most fundamental basic needs for human life. However, disparities in the availability of clean water remain a significant challenge in Indonesia. This study aims to develop a water purification device to address this issue. The research method employed was the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages, with this study focusing on analysis, design, and development, which serve as scope of this study. The result of a water purification, named HydroTechPure, utilizes a dual filter system with high quality absorbent materials and is constructed from acrylic materials, enhanced by 3D design technology and Arduino integration. The development of this device aligns with the sixth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which emphasizes ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all. HydroTechPure was developed at FabLab Edu UPI. Beyond its primary function, HydroTechPure is envisioned as a tool for integrating STEM based learning, aiming to foster students’ motivation and environmental awareness.

Abstract

Formative assessment strategies in chemistry classrooms are essential for enhancing learning, identifying misconceptions, increasing student engagement, promoting metacognition, and supporting differentiation in the classroom. This study employs a systematic literature review (SLR) method to examine formative assessment strategies in high school chemistry classes. The review process follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Eleven articles were assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), focusing on empirical studies published between 2019 and 2023. The article selection process utilized two databases: Scopus and Google Scholar. The key findings identified four main themes related to formative assessment in chemistry classrooms: implementation effectiveness, relationships, technology, and challenges. Further research recommendations include exploring various formative assessment methods and integrating innovative assessment tools with technology to enhance self-assessment and improve student outcomes.
