Abstract

Learning motivation is influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic factors; gifted children quickly get bored with activities that do not match their abilities and need higher challenges to stay motivated. This study used the systematic literature review (SLR) method. Data collection used literature studies. The number of analyzed documents was 25 from highly reputable journals (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 and Sinta 2) obtained through Scopus, Springer, Eric, Sciendirect, Doaj, Taylor, and Google Scholar. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive qualitative analysis with the help of NVIVO software 12. The study results showed that the intrinsic learning motivation of gifted and talented children was more dominant than the extrinsic one. It includes liking challenges, high curiosity, creativity and innovation, and liking exploration. Strong learning motivation in gifted and talented children aligns substantially with Islamic values. The encouragement to continue learning, exploring knowledge, innovating, and exploring one's potential is an integral part of the implementation of Allah's command to seek knowledge and utilize the intellect that He has given. This not only contributes to the achievement of academic and professional success but also deepens their faith and piety in God Almighty. This research could contribute to understanding learning motivation from the Islamic perspective and increase the learning motivation of gifted and talented children based on Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Background: Gifted children possess heightened emotional and social sensitivity, which makes them more vulnerable to psychological pressure amid changing interaction patterns driven by digitalization. This phenomenon, as articulated in The Anxious Generation, suggests that excessive digital exposure can fundamentally alter the dynamics of children’s social-emotional development. Objective: This study aims to analyze the social-emotional crisis experienced by gifted children in the digital era by integrating Jonathan Haidt’s theoretical framework to elucidate emerging vulnerability mechanisms and identify relevant directions for intervention. Method: This research employed a Systematic Literature Review of 80 national and international publications addressing giftedness and digitalization. Qualitative analysis was conducted to identify thematic patterns and examine intervariable relationships within the context of gifted children’s social-emotional development. Result: The analysis revealed three major patterns: (1) heightened emotional sensitivity increases the risk of anxiety resulting from intensive digital interactions; (2) the phenomenon of great rewiring shifts real-life social experiences toward more passive digital activities; and (3) social isolation and identity dilemmas emerge as consequences of the imbalance between advanced intellectual abilities and emotional maturity. Conclusion: Digitalization intensifies the social-emotional challenges faced by gifted children. Therefore, educational policies and psychological strategies are needed to balance cognitive stimulation with emotional well-being in order to support healthy child development in the digital era.

Abstract

Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in elementary schools plays a crucial role in helping students understand natural and social phenomena in an integrated manner. However, the implementation of IPAS learning still tends to be textual and textbook-centered, with limited connections to students’ real-life experiences, thereby failing to support deep learning fully. This study aims to analyze the forms of contextualization of IPAS materials, examine their implications for deep learning, and identify obstacles to their implementation in elementary schools. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using the PRISMA approach to analyze articles published between 2021 and 2025. A total of 1,301 articles were initially identified from the Google Scholar, Scopus, and Crossref databases using the Publish or Perish application, of which 14 relevant articles were selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings indicate that the contextualization of IPAS materials is implemented through several approaches, including the use of visual and interactive media, environment-based and experiential learning, problem-based and inquiry-based approaches, the integration of local potential, interdisciplinary learning, and multimodal representation. These approaches contribute to improving students’ motivation to learn, conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, learning autonomy, and metacognitive awareness, which are key indicators of deep learning. However, challenges remain, particularly related to limited teacher pedagogical competence, insufficient contextual learning media, and structural constraints within the education system. Therefore, strengthening teacher competence, developing contextual learning designs, and enhancing institutional support are essential to promote meaningful and sustainable IPAS learning in elementary education.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: Mto analyze the application of the social emotional learning (SEL) model, the integration of local cultural values in social emotional learning (SEL), and the competence of teachers in implementing social emotional learning (SEL) in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Methodology: This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, the literature used between 2021-2025 sourced from scientific databases in the form of Scopus, ERIC, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. This research utilizes the Publish or Perish 8 software. Main Findings: The study found that the integration of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah becomes effective when local cultural values are internalized through collaborative, reflective, and contextual learning such as storytelling, traditional games, the use of regional languages, and mutual cooperation activities. This approach improves self-awareness, empathy, social skills, and responsible decision-making. The success of implementation is also influenced by teachers' competence in understanding SEL, building relationships, managing emotions, applying holistic pedagogy, and having cultural sensitivity so that SEL is integrated into school culture inclusively. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study lies in the development of a learning model in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah that not only forms intellectual intelligence, but also balances the social-emotional and moral-spiritual aspects of students. This research is a guideline in designing learning based on the integration of local cultural values to foster empathy, social intelligence, and self-control.

Abstract

The teaching of the Quran requires teachers to master fundamental instructional skills comprehensively, as they are not merely transmitters of sacred texts but also facilitators of effective, interactive, and meaningful learning processes. Such mastery enables teachers to foster students’ motivation, improve the quality of recitation, and cultivate an emotional connection with the Quran. This study aims to examine the concept and practice of nine essential teaching skills in Quranic instruction and to explore how these skills are implemented in classroom settings. Employing a qualitative content analysis approach, data were drawn from theories, expert opinions, and the review of 120 relevant scholarly articles. Thematic analysis was conducted using NVivo 12 software. The findings highlight nine core teaching skills that Quran teachers must acquire both theoretically and practically: i) openings and ii) closures enhance attentiveness and reflection, iii) explanation and iv) questioning strengthen comprehension and critical engagement, v) reinforcement and vi) variation sustain motivation, while vii) classroom management, viii) group discussions, ix) and individualized teaching foster discipline, collaboration, and inclusivity. This study contributes theoretically by strengthening the conceptual framework of basic teaching skills within Islamic education, and practically by offering insights for teacher training, curriculum development, and policy initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of Quranic pedagogy in Islamic educational institutions.
