Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies employed by Islamic Education (PAI) teachers to foster Islamic character values among middle school students through multimedia-based extracurricular activities. Specifically, it investigates how interactive digital tools, reflective exercises, and contextualized learning experiences contribute to the internalization of core values such as honesty, responsibility, empathy, and discipline. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected at SMP Hidmatul Hikam Alassumur through direct observations of extracurricular sessions, in-depth interviews with teachers, and document analysis including lesson plans and student portfolios. Findings indicate that multimedia integration significantly enhances student engagement, comprehension, and practical application of Islamic character values, with students demonstrating increased moral awareness and consistent ethical behavior. Teachers’ deliberate planning, continuous feedback, and reflective facilitation were identified as critical success factors. The study highlights the pedagogical potential of technology-enhanced activities in moral education and provides practical guidance for educators seeking to strengthen character development. The results suggest that integrating multimedia thoughtfully into extracurricular programs can foster sustainable moral growth and active value internalization among adolescents.

Abstract

Digital transformation in Islamic boarding schools requires integrating learning organization models with adaptive learning to address the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and society 5.0. This article aims to analyze the construction of the integration of the two concepts in the context of digitization of students in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools. The study focuses on a technology-based adaptive learning model associated with the five Senge disciplines in pesantren governance. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol, based on 35 Scopus- and Sinta-indexed articles published between 2015 and 2025. The results of the study show that the integration of learning organization and adaptive learning forms four dimensions of transformation, namely modernization of data-based curriculum, strengthening the digital capacity of ustadz and students, system-based governance, and preservation of Islamic values. These findings confirm that the Islamic boarding schools that have succeeded in transforming are those that make collective learning a culture and personalize learning as a strategy. It is concluded that the Senge-Adaptive Learning hybrid framework is feasible as a model for digital pesantren governance.

Abstract

The decline of student discipline and the limited integration of spiritual development in primary education highlight the need for holistic educational approaches, particularly in Islamic school contexts. This study investigates the role of congregational Dhuha prayer habituation in fostering students’ discipline and spiritual intelligence in an Islamic elementary school. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving one principal, two teachers, and eleven sixth-grade students selected purposively based on their direct and sustained participation in the program. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis, and analyzed using the interactive qualitative model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings indicate that the congregational Dhuha prayer program functioned as a structured institutional routine that supported punctuality, procedural readiness, behavioral responsibility, emotional calmness, intrinsic religious motivation, and growing spiritual competence. Students’ repeated participation in communal worship fostered both observable disciplinary behaviors and internal spiritual development within a supportive educational environment. This study contributes a co-emergence perspective, demonstrating that discipline and spiritual intelligence may develop simultaneously through a single embodied religious practice rather than as separate educational outcomes. The findings suggest that structured spiritual habituation may serve as a meaningful pedagogical strategy for holistic character formation in Islamic primary education
