Abstract

The low critical thinking ability of elementary school students in the subject of IPAS (Integrated Science and Social Studies) is attributed to teaching methods that primarily emphasize rote memorization without incorporating problem-solving activities, particularly those related to real-life environmental issues. This study aims to develop interactive learning multimedia based on the problem-based learning (PBL) model with a focus on Balinese local wisdom to enhance the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade elementary school students in the topic Indonesiaku Kaya Alamnya (My Indonesia, Rich in Natural Resources). The research follows the ADDIE model. Data collection methods employed in this study include tests and questionnaires. The findings of the media validation test indicate a feasibility index of 4.73 for media quality and 4.6 for content quality, both of which fall into the "very good" category. Additionally, the analysis conducted by expert practitioners revealed that the practicality scores obtained were 94% for teachers and 94.4% for students, categorizing the multimedia as highly practical. The effectiveness test results showed a significance level of < 0.01, indicating a significant difference in students' critical thinking abilities before and after using the multimedia. Thus, it can be concluded that the interactive learning multimedia based on the PBL model, incorporating Balinese local wisdom, is both feasible for classroom use and effective in helping students connect conceptual material with real-world situations in their environment.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines digital technology-based policy approaches to enhance the quality and access of primary education in developing countries, a critical issue given the persistent disparities in educational equity and the urgent need for inclusive solutions. Despite the transformative potential of digital technologies, their implementation often fails due to infrastructure deficits, low teacher digital literacy, and contextual barriers. Analyzing 40 peer-reviewed articles (2019–2024), the study reveals a stark policy-implementation gap: while 68% of national policies prioritize infrastructure (e.g., internet connectivity), 70% of local challenges stem from infrastructure gaps and 65% from low teacher readiness. Successful cases, such as China's 85% school digitalization rate, underscore the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration and balanced budgeting (e.g., 30% infrastructure, 40% teacher training). However, rural areas lag significantly, with only 15% adoption in Albania due to electricity shortages. The findings highlight the limitations of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in addressing contextual challenges such as teacher technophobia (40%) and curriculum misalignment (55%). The study's implications are vital for policymakers: (1) adaptive policies must balance infrastructure investment with human capacity building; (2) hybrid learning models can bridge urban-rural divides, as proven by blended learning's 30–50% participation increase in remote areas; and (3) localized strategies, including culturally responsive teacher training, are essential for equitable adoption. The urban-centric data bias (80%) and pandemic-era context further necessitate longitudinal research in low-resource settings. By advocating for holistic frameworks that integrate infrastructure, pedagogy, and inclusive governance, this review provides a roadmap for sustainable digital education transformation in developing nations

Abstract

Although mathematics learning at the Elementary School level has undergone various innovations, many students still have difficulty understanding mathematical concepts. To overcome this problem, a learning media is needed to stimulate students' cognitive activities, such as E-LKPD (Electronic Student Worksheet) based on APOS Theory (Action, Process, Object, Schema), which emphasizes the stages of students' mathematical thinking development. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of E-LKPD based on APOS theory (Action, Process, Object, Schema), which is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' adaptive reasoning. The development model used is the ADDIE model. The subjects of this study were 30 fourth-grade students. The trial subjects included lecturers, teachers and students. The data collection methods and instruments used were interviews, observations, questionnaires and tests. Data analysis techniques included quantitative, qualitative and inferential descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that E-LKPD media based on APOS theory effectively improves students' adaptive reasoning on mathematical material, picture patterns, and number patterns in fourth-grade students. Based on APOS theory, this study implies that E-LKPD can be an alternative digital learning media that supports meaningful learning and the development of high-level thinking skills from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of self-efficacy and work motivation on the performance of Guru Penggerak (Driving Teachers) in elementary schools in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara. The background of this research is grounded in the essential role of Guru Penggerak in driving educational transformation, a role that demands high competence, strong work ethic, and a high level of self-confidence in carrying out professional responsibilities. This study employed an ex-post facto design involving N = 69 Guru Penggerak across various elementary schools in Kupang City as respondents. The sample was selected using a cluster sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 27.00 with simple and multiple linear regression techniques. The results indicate that self-efficacy significantly affects the performance of Guru Penggerak, with an R-squared value of 12.3%, indicating that self-efficacy contributes 12.3% to performance outcomes. Similarly, work motivation showed an R-squared value of 34.5%, indicating a greater contribution to performance. Furthermore, the simultaneous effect of self-efficacy and work motivation on teacher performance was statistically significant, as indicated by an Fhit= 18.257 and a significance level of 0.001. Thus, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. These findings suggest that higher levels of self-efficacy and work motivation lead to better performance among teachers in fulfilling their roles as agents of change in the school environment.

Abstract

The low science learning outcomes of elementary school students remain a significant problem in Education, particularly in subjects that tend to be passive and lack active student involvement. Furthermore, low levels of student self-efficacy contribute to the suboptimal understanding of science concepts. This study aims to determine the effect of the Process-Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) Model and self-efficacy on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The study population was 192 fifth-grade students. A sample of 106 students was selected through a multi-stage random sampling technique, divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through a self-efficacy questionnaire and a multiple-choice learning outcome test. Data analysis using two-way ANOVA shows that: there are differences in science learning outcomes between students who follow the POGIL model and conventional learning, there is an interaction between the POGIL model and self-efficacy on science learning outcomes, students with high self-efficacy get better results with the POGIL model, and students with low self-efficacy also get better results with the POGIL model. In conclusion, the application of the POGIL model can improve science learning outcomes for both students with high and low self-efficacy. The implications of this study suggest that the application of the POGIL model can be an effective alternative learning strategy for improving science learning outcomes among elementary school students, regardless of their level of self-efficacy.
