Abstract

This study aims to uncover the impact of leadership and motivation on employee performance at PT. Multi Alfa Mandiri. The primary issue addressed is the need to improve employee performance at the company, as well as the lack of previous scientific research on this topic at PT. Multi Alfa Mandiri. The research method employed is quantitative causal, with leadership and motivation as the independent variables and employee performance as the dependent variable. The population of this study consists of 150 employees, with a sample of 110 individuals selected using probability sampling with the simple random sampling technique. The results of the study indicate that leadership and motivation have both partial and simultaneous effects on employee performance at PT. Multi Alfa Mandiri. Based on these findings, recommendations are provided to the management of PT. Multi Alfa Mandiri to offer additional leadership training, implement open and honest communication with supervisors regarding team feelings when mistakes occur, enhance motivational aspects related to salary satisfaction by adjusting salaries to industry standards and employee performance capabilities, and provide regular training on the effective use of technology to increase work efficiency and prevent the misuse of technology for non-work-related purposes.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of brand image and brand awareness on consumer purchasing decisions at the "Persiapan Masuk Universitas Impian" (PMUI) tutoring center in Depok. In the face of increasing competition in the tutoring industry, a deep understanding of how brand image and brand awareness influence consumer purchasing decisions is crucial. The research employed a quantitative approach involving 95 respondents. The study population consisted of all consumers who registered at PMUI Depok between November and December 2023, totaling 125 individuals, with a sample selected using probability sampling, specifically simple random sampling. Data were collected via an online questionnaire distributed through Google Forms and analyzed using multiple regression analysis with SPSS version 25. The results indicated that brand image and brand awareness have a significant impact on consumer purchasing decisions at PMUI Depok. A positive brand image, particularly related to the quality of instructors, enhances consumer confidence. However, diversification of learning programs is necessary to meet the needs of a larger number of consumers. Brand awareness, especially in terms of brand recognition, plays an important role, while brand recall needs to be strengthened through active promotion on social media and collaboration with influencers. Price is also a key consideration in purchasing decisions, so PMUI should offer competitive pricing or discount programs. Loyalty programs and reward schemes can further enhance consumer purchasing decisions. By strengthening brand image, brand awareness, and considering price factors, PMUI can improve its competitiveness and position in the market.

Abstract

Fruit flies remain a persistent threat to horticultural production, especially in tropical regions where seasonal shifts can significantly affect their population dynamics. This study investigated the species composition, diversity, and environmental drivers of fruit fly populations infesting Capsicum annuum and Solanum lycopersicum over a one-year period in Batu City, Indonesia. Using weekly sampling across four seasonal phases—dry-to-rainy transition, rainy season, rainy-to-dry transition, and dry season—fruit fly specimens were collected, reared, and identified. Environmental variables, including temperature, humidity, rainfall, light intensity, and pesticide application frequency, were monitored and analyzed in relation to fruit fly abundance using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and multiple linear regression. A total of four species were recorded: Bactrocera carambolae, Bactrocera dorsalis, Atherigona sp, and Silba sp, with the latter representing a new regional record for East Java. Population peaks occurred during the rainy season and its transitional periods, while significant declines were observed during the dry months. Regression models revealed that temperature and humidity supported population growth, whereas pesticide use had a consistently suppressive effect—particularly for B. dorsalis and Atherigona sp. However, the models explained only 20–50% of the variation, suggesting that additional ecological factors may be at play. These findings deepen our understanding of fruit fly ecology in tropical systems and highlight the importance of integrating climatic and agronomic data in pest management strategies. The discovery of Silba sp. further enriches current biogeographical knowledge and signals the need for adaptive, interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable pest control.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) connects electrical appliances that enable data transfer for communication without human intervention. IoT has evolved, and its implementation has been extended to residential areas. It can be said that all residents use fans as cooling appliances. In Malaysia, having a fan is not sufficient due to its hot temperature throughout the year. Therefore, most of the residents use air conditioners as an additional cooling appliance. Using air conditioners regularly could contribute to high energy consumption. Furthermore, excessive energy consumption occurs when an occupant of a residential building forgets to switch off electrical appliances such as fans and air conditioners. In addition, leaving electrical appliances turning on when nobody is at home just wastes energy. This work aims to develop an IoT-based smart home controlling system for minimizing energy consumption. This system enables automatic control that depends on room temperature and motion detection. Various types of sensors, such as temperature sensor, humidity sensor, and motion sensor, are used to switch on/off the air conditioner and fan. The air conditioner and fan will be alternately switched on and off depending on the ideal room temperature. The testing results show a significant reduction in energy consumption and a promising decrease in the electricity bill. Future works should be focusing on determining the over limit energy consumption. On top of that, this research would be best to try on simulation to get better results.

Abstract

Examining ethnobotany in mountainous regions established as popular hiking destinations is essential for conservation initiatives. In this study, we aim to explore the ethnobotanical knowledge of the indigenous communities and to analyze the plant diversity in the ecotourism corridor to Mount Prau in Purwosari Village, Central Java, Indonesia. Ethnobotanical data was collected through semi-structured interviews with informants recruited via purposive sampling. An exploratory approach was used to inventory plant diversity along the ecotourism corridor of Mount Prau in Purwosari village. Our key informants comprised village officials, community leaders, Mount Prau caretakers, and basecamp managers. The findings indicated that the informants explained a total of 68 plant species, which were utilized by the community for various purposes. These plants served as valuable food sources, medicinal ingredients, and economic value, and they were also used for fodder, building materials, shade, and conservation purposes. In the ecotourism corridor in Purwosari village, which serves as the conservation trail for Mount Prau, a total of 117 plant species were identified through an inventory in this study. Finding some invasive alien plant species, such as Acacia decurens and Clidemia hirta, and an endangered species, Castanopsis argentea, highlights the importance of conservation efforts for protecting and preserving the diverse plant species found along the conservation trail to Mount Prau.
