Abstract

Introduction: The waste management in the Bengawan Solo River basin in Indonesia leaves a feeling of profound sadness as the river is filled with waste and is very dirty. It decreases the quality of the river water and the environment around the river basin. This research aims to analyze the implementation of waste management around the Bengawan Solo River basin. This was a type of sociological legal research, i.e., research which utilized data from the field. This was descriptive qualitative research, meaning that it describes the policy on waste management in the Bengawan Solo River basin and the authors selected qualitative data to be analyzed. The authors conducted the sociological approach which was obtained from respondents through interviews and observation in the field. The data were processed and analyzed qualitatively. Then, the authors drew a conclusion. Results and Discussion: There is a very high volume of pollution and waste in the Bengawan Solo River as society lacks environmental awareness, making them not think twice about littering in rivers. Apart from that, the government does not carry out enough systematic efforts by educating society, implementing legal sanctions, or cleaning the river, worsening the condition of this river. Conclusion: The government needs to show a firm attitude in law enforcement by imposing sanctions on pollution and littering perpetrators in the Bengawan Solo River as well as increasing the budget and apparatus to carry out river cleaning activities.

Abstract

Humility is a leadership model inherent in Asian culture and is believed to impact employees' productive behavior and attitudes positively. By examining how leader humility affects the workplace's civility climate and innovative work behavior (IWB), the current study seeks to address the scarcity of studies on these relationships. We also posited that the perceived civility climate mediated the relationship between leader humility and IWB and examined the role of job insecurity as a boundary condition. PLS-SEM was applied to test hypotheses from data on 328 employees in various sectors in Jakarta. The analysis results indicate humility could promote perceived civility and innovative work behavior. In addition, we discovered that civility climate acted as a mediator in leader humility and IWB relationship. Moreover, we empirically reveal unique findings regarding the role of job insecurity as a moderator in the leader-humility-IWB and civility climate-IWB relationship. The present study is the first attempt to explore the role of intermediate civility climate in the relationship between leader humility and IWB. Moreover, we add job insecurity as a boundary condition to provide new insights into explaining IWB

Abstract

This quantitative correlational study examined the relationship between reading ability and popular article writing performance among Medical Laboratory Technology undergraduates at Universitas Binawan, Jakarta. Using purposive sampling, 120 students from semesters 4–6 (GPA ≥ 2.75) participated in the study. Data were collected through a 60-item reading comprehension test measuring literal (40%), inferential (35%), and evaluative (25%) comprehension levels (Cronbach's α = .87; M = 74.6, SD = 8.2) and an analytic writing rubric assessing content, organization, language use, and audience engagement (ICC = .89; M = 76.2, SD = 7.9; maximum score = 100). Simple linear regression analysis conducted via IBM SPSS 27.0 (α = .05) revealed that reading ability significantly predicted popular article writing quality (B = 0.68, t = 9.71, p < .001), explaining 46% of variance in writing performance (R² = .46, Adjusted R² = .45, F (1,118) = 94.25, p < .001). Students with higher reading proficiency demonstrated superior writing coherence, content accuracy, and audience adaptation. These cross-sectional findings, collected in May 2025, support the integration of reading-writing pedagogy in health sciences communication training within Indonesian higher education, particularly in programs aligned with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka curriculum framework.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to explore the dynamic relationship between customer incivility and employee silence in the hospitality sector over time. In addition, turnover intention as an outcome of workplace incivility and employee silence is also analyzed. The data was collected from two waves of 226 frontline employees from six hotels to test the proposed model. PLS-SEM analysis revealed a stable relationship between workplace incivility and employee silence at Time 1 and 2, respectively. This study also shows that workplace incivility is positively related to employee silence, and in the future, employee silence is also positively associated with customer incivility. Furthermore, both workplace incivility and employee silence are predictors of turnover intention. This study offers theoretical and practical implications for future researchers and practitioners to study employee silence and incivility in the hospitality sector.

Abstract

This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach to examine fear-driven decision-making in cyber risk management and digital transformation within the banking sector. The review follows the PRISMA framework and analyzes 25 peer-reviewed journal articles selected from Scopus and Web of Science databases published between 2020 and 2025. The findings reveal that fear operates as a latent psychological mechanism influencing strategic decision-making, particularly through risk amplification, regulatory pressure, and trust concerns. Fear-driven responses often lead to conservative strategies, delayed innovation, and excessive risk aversion, which may affect organizational resilience and governance effectiveness. This study contributes to the literature by explicitly conceptualizing fear as a central construct in cyber risk management and digital transformation, providing both theoretical insights and practical implications for banking institutions.

Abstract

The rising divorce rate in Indonesia demands optimizing the role of mediation in court as a non-litigation effort to reconcile the parties. Mediation is a mandatory procedure under Supreme Court Regulation (PERMA) No. 1 of 2016, but its success in preventing divorce remains fluctuating. This article examines the effectiveness of mediation in mitigating domestic conflict and identifies factors that hinder the success of the peace process in court. This research uses a normative-empirical method with a sociological-legal approach, drawing on literature and case statistics. The results of the study indicate that the mediator's competence strongly influences mediation effectiveness, the parties' good faith, and the duration of the mediation process. Although procedurally implemented, mediation often becomes merely an administrative formality because the parties' firm desire for divorce has already hardened. Therefore, strengthening the role of professional mediators and adopting a deeper psychological-religious approach are needed to increase the success rate of peace settlements substantially.
